Imperial Legion & Morag Tong advancement failure

I can't seem to advance any further in the Imperial Legion or the Morag Tong.

I'm at Associate in the Morag Tong, have completed all the regular writ quests and meet all the skill & attribute requirements, but when I ask Eno about advancement he just says I need to do more writs. I have accidently prematurely activated the Belt of Sanguine Swiftness Special Job as described elsewhere, but those threads don't describe an advancement problem as a result.

I'm at Knight Protector in the Legion, meet all the requirements and have done every Legion quest save the very last one where you duel Varus Vantinius, but when I ask for advancement he says if I follow orders I'll get all the advancement I deserve or something similar. If I ask for orders he says I need to be Knight Garland rank first. The other Legion quest givers just tell me to go to Varus if I ask them for advancement.

Any ideas or does it sound like I'm SOL unless I console it up?

If yes, type the following in console:

I used setvar to get all my attributes & skills up to 100 just to be sure, same results.

For Imperial Legion - you are

For Imperial Legion - you are promoted to the rank of Knight of the Garland when you returm Chrysamere during this quest. Have you done that?

For Morag Tong - how did you get to stage 10 ("I am eligible for promotion to the rank of Blind Thrall in the Morag Tong")? Did you use any console commands for this?

I have returned both the Mail & Chrysamere & the quest 'Lord's Mail' quest is in my journal as completed.

I haven't used any console commands for any quest related activities, Morag Tong or otherwise. The only thing odd I can think of is I asked Eno about Special Duties before becoming eligible for that quest line & he gave me the Belt of Sanguine Fleetness quest (that I can't finish yet because I can't advance) prematurely as described in other threads (the solution someone posted to this was just advance until eligible & it works itself out):

The second post down (Brainslasher) on the last one may be what causes the problem, I don't know enough of how the quest trees & triggers work to tell.

Hmm, so you didn't get promoted by the end of this quest? I can see this possibly happening if you didn't meet the skill requirement at the time.

No, I don't know what caused Morag Tong issue. You can force the next rank with "setstage fbmwMTAdvancement 11" and see if it works from there.
