Skill/Perk changes and the like

Submitted by TheHalbain on

In the FAQ i think there was a thing about changing the skill system or something to be kind of a midway between skyrim and morrowind (or at least thats how I read it, correct me if i'm wrong).

If this is the case will there be a version that doesn't do that? I quite like my already quite modded skill and perk system and I don't want it to conflict or anything.

Or I could just be being exceptionally ignorant about how its being done. That happens.

Hi!

Nice to see you, here.

Can you give link to your quite modded skill and perk system? And explain how it works.

Hey Haliban, the plan at this stage is indeed to create our own perk/skill/levelling system which incorporates more of Morrowind's ideas (albeit improved somewhat) into the system, seeing as we are trying to re-create and improve on Morrowind in a new engine.

There is yet to be a final decision if this overhaul will be a non-optional part of the mod, or if it will be standalone. If it is incorporated, your perk overhauls will probably conflict. I'm not 100% on that though.

We may incorporate aspects of some of the more popular Skyrim perk overhauls, so you may find it to be kind of enjoyable anyway.

I'm open to suggestions on what people would like to see in a perk overhaul for Skywind, so if you have any feel free to let me know.

I just would love it to be optional so I can figure out what conflicts or not when its out. I don't really know Morrowind's systems as I've only played it briefly once so I don't really know how it works or which I would prefer (Not that I'm overly bothered its just I have a few mods that affect different perk trees, not so much overhauls as tweaks that make the system that much better.. I've lost track which ones actually - too many mods, the number slowly rises too.. I'm at about 175. Used to have more =P)

Though it would be your decision ultimately and I'd just have to figure out what works and what doesn't I suppose. To incorporate anything - Anything that improves magic or stealth to make them actual working systems =P

For the record really looking forward to this. Been looking at it now and then (More Skyblivion than Skywind but hey both look awesome)

I think the biggest problem is that a few of the mechanics differ so drastically that they need to be tweaked (e.g. Smithing, as there are different materials in Morrowind) and playing the game without these tweaks won't make much sense.

I doubt the system would be optional since skywind has many changes to gameplay, which would require their own perks. Skywind is more than anything its own game, and I doubt mods for skyrim would work well when the two are introduced to one another.
