Main Quest [Dagoth Ur] Outcome

Submitted by PoVisko on

Hi there,

I've long since been a fan of Morrowind but one thing bugged me most in the main storyline. The end was anti-climatic. Not the conversation with the mad god himself, but rather the second fight section.

I was wondering if you guys (who organise the project) are considering something to alter the final encounter? Maybe, something like, after destroying the heart, you destroy the shield that protects Dagoth Ur, but you still have to fight Dagoth Ur himself.

Or maybe (not a very realistic one) during a conversation with Dagoth Ur, there would be a possibility (maybe if you previously met certain conditions) to join the sixth house and get a quest to kill Vivec, (maybe teleporting to alternate instance of Vivec, but without the ability to leave it for the quest or enter any of the quarters), Ordinators attack you, along with some different enemies like Temple priests you met earlier (temples will still be wiped out if you win this quest) and Ordinator Generals or something, maybe there's a barricade between st. Olms and st. Delyn. Some important character may be guarding it and required to be defeated in order to progress further (maybe through Vivec's Canals, which I thought were a bit underused in the original game). Then you meet Vivec himself and an epic battle insues (different from the one if you attack him not during this quest). Then if you succeed, Dagoth Ur replaces Vivec in the original instance, ordinators are replaces with sleeper guards, temples with sixth house shrines, new dialogue greeting lines (instead of "good" nerevarine one, you are greeted as an "evil" nerevarine by some, some don't care, some start worshipping sixth house, some might even find profit this way, etc.). The important character you defeated near barricades in no longer in the game, but maybe you are remembered about killim him/her through talking to certain NPCs.

I just thought this would be awesome. And I know that this does will be a conflict to the lore, but it would be an awesome way to write a new lore. Because the player will be the writer. The decider. His/her choices would shape the history of Morrowind. Think about it. :)

I'd like to see something along these lines with the ability to join the Sixth House. I know there used to be a mod for Morrowind called the Great House Dagoth that was very lore friendly and showed how there was no black and white in the storyline. Dagoth Ur was no more evil than the Tribunal was good, and we know how good the Tribunal was right?

It was something I always wanted incorporated into the game, and I feel it was odd that vanilla Morrowind didn't have the option to.

It would be cool to join house dagoth for sure. I think what the main quest ending lacked was "oomph" for the ending though, since the the buildup was fantastic and had a lot of gravitas.

Ill say spoiler alert but this whole thread is one big spoiler ;)

So when you walk into Dagoth Urs chamber with Akulakhan and destroy it, the extent of the act isss.. it falls down.

Good Job!! Hours of work and you did it!

I think with the skyrim engine something better can be done. There should be an Indiana Jones esque escape scene as your character runs for their life out of the chamber, as it crumbles away. And it should be suspenseful, and able to kill you. No screwing around here, you need to run for your life out of these ruins ;)

When you make your way back to the surface after sprinting out, you can look up at the clear skies above. You see a strange glow on the rim of the now eerily serene red mountain.. And see Azura to tell you you've won. You can see all of vvardenfell when she tells you, which if you ask me is a better view than a dingy torch-lit cave!

That would be great to make alternative endings. Though would be better if it will be adequate to after story in TES.
