I played this quest previously and it worked just fine, so I'll have to test your issue ingame first. I haven't had time to do it yet.

Hi. I'm also having the same problem.  Is there any way you could provide the code to advance the quest, in the mean time, so that I can continue with the rest of the quest-line?

I know this post is over 4 years old, but I'm having the same problem on v064? I meet Tarvyn Faren, tell him to follow me, he says to take him to Pelagiad, but then won't follow me. He even turns around and walks away. Let me know if you want me to gather anything, otherwise I'll just use the console to try and advance the quest.

Just to clarify, you are using the file posted in this thread?

The file won't download properly it just comes up as a bunch of characters.

Whenever you get a page of scrambled characters, go back to the previous web page, then Right-Click on the link and select "Save As Link" or "Save Target As".  This will happen most often when trying to download a filename that ends in ".esp".

BTW: I confirmed that this bugfix is not part of Morroblivion Unofficial Patch or the Unified Patch.  So I recommend everyone download and use it, until v065 comes out.

Ok, and now he follows me, but when I get the tavern nothing happens

Same thing happened to me.  Used the morrob_tarvyn_faren.esp file, took Tarvyn to Pelagrid, had him stand outside the tavern, then inside the tavern, but got no new dialog options either case and no way to advance the quest.  When he was inside, he still asked if he should wait or follow, but he would not move no matter what.  He was stuck at a spot inside the tavern, so it seemed the escort was done.  I went back to Edryno Arethi and she also had no new dialog option.  So I had to advance the quest with player.setstage fbmwHHEscortMerchant 70

Similar thing happened in Mages Guild's Escort Itermerel quest: the NPC followed me to the tavern but wouldn't let me advance.  I asked him for the notes but he said not until we arrived the tavern, which we already did.  So I just pickpocketed his notes and completed the quest.  No console was needed this time.

Use the fixes.  I recently completed the quest without difficulty.

Double checking this issue, seems people are still having it as of v066 with the updates in Dagger Galore Patch. It has been reported to the Bug Tab on Galore nexus page.
