missing textures and meshes...

Submitted by OpusToruk on

I recently install morroblivion and it was working fine till I wnt to balmora... The Hlaalu guards have miossing meshes for thier shields, and when I wear bonemold armor there's random pink or black tings spewing from my body in random directions... Also there's no icons for anything even though it says there are icons for items now and there's some missing textures on barrels and crates. I've tried reinstalling morroblivion AND all the required mods for it like VI. Also I can't get Ely's Silent voice to work no matter what I do...

Help please?

There are several extra downloads on the Project thread besides the three parts of the Complete Installation. You have not installed one or more of them. It would help if you were more descriptive than "Installed Morroblivion." You must use the OBSE Launcher provided with OBSE to get Ely's Silent Voice to work. There is an older thread on these forums that goes into this in detail. There is an Installation Guide that has a step for each required mod.

I did install everything that was listed in the required section. I installed Vvardenfel imports, I installed Elys Silent Voice, I installed UOP, and then I installed morroblivion. I tried downloading the Eloth's Magnificent Visual Overhaul but when I do I can't download part 4 and 11 for some reason and when I try to open part on it tells me it's not a valid zip file.

I don't know what's up with the visual overhaul what so ever...

I think it's firefox... FF4 just came out and it's having issues.. Maybe I'll try the visual overhaul downloads with Internet Explorer...

I also have the latest OBSE and Ely's silent voice installed the way I was told to install it in the readme..

You keep saying you "Installed Morroblivion" but this is not just a simple one-step process. Step 7 requres two "Additional Support Files" It also sounds like you have skipped steps 8 and 9. Please read and follow the Installation Instructions. There is a forum topic on troubleshooting Ely's Silent Voice. You MUST start Oblivion with the OBSE Installer.

I just uninstalled oblivion, morrowind, and all the mods I have, then reinstalled them with all the files required to run morroblivion correctly. I'm still having the same problems...

There are Nine downloads that consitute "Morroblivion." 1. Complete Installation Part 1 2. Complete Installation Part 2 3. Complete Installation Part 3 4. Additional Support Files 1 5. Additional Support Files 2 6. Miscellaneous Items & Ingredients by Eloth 7. Henshu Lute Music 8. Morrowind_ob.esm 9. MorrowObivion_World Transport (or Thermador's Alternative) Vvardenfell Imports is also needed in addition to the files listed above. There are other add-on's listed in the Installation Instructions, like UOP and Ely's.

Ely's Silent Voice
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16622
Requires OBSE: http://obse.silverlock.org/
>>> OBSE is also required for our Workaround Levitation Spell <<<

Have you installed the Oblivion Script Extender?

Edit: If you have OBSE installed, make sure you launch the game using obse_loader.exe and not oblivion.exe (both are found in your \games\oblivion\ folder ).

They're all installed correcly. I finally got it all to work but there are a fe wmissing textures here and there still nothing major. Als I can't pick up potions... I can't even grab them with Z...

you obviously need to carefully read the instructions again, and start from scratch.

Icons are included in "Additional Support Files 1" and "Additional Support Files 2". Potions are included in "Additional Support Files 2". Please download and Install both of these sets of files.

JEsus Christ... EVERYTHING is installed I've reinstalled it all like 3 times now and the only thing that I'm having a problem with now is being able to pick up and place potions... If I drop them they usually just float at an angle and all pre-placed potions are unable to be picked up.

@OpusToruk I had the exact same problem with potions. I couldnt figure out the problem for a while. I had only upgraded from a previous Morroblvion (v30->v31) and had followed the instructions as well, but my potions were still missing textures. I have Hashmi's textures (http://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/1151) and thought maybe the textures I needed were in Eloth's Visual Overhaul and nobody noticed they werent actually packed in with the upgrade because everyone else uses the overhaul. Which might explain why ur textures showed up:

"I just gor the eloths visual overhaul finally and it fixeed it all.. "

I also thought because in BASH the install order is higher for Hashmi's textures then Morroblivion (as it should be) that Hashmi might also have potion textures that were interferring with Eloth's included ones, preventing the game from applying any texture at all. Because Eloth uses new meshes for the bottles, he would have had to point to one texture for the glass part and one for the outside part. The game would show the glass texture for the part showing, but the texture for the outside of the bottle was missing. Because I installed Hashmi's textures AFTER Eloth's that are included with the game (Hashmi's had a higher install priority) the bottles didnt show Eloth's textures at all. To try and fix it, I didnt want his textures for everything, only for potions. So i decided to try installing Eloth's Misc Item Replacer v5 with a higher install priority then Hashmi's, which should have only replaced what I wanted replaced. Well when I did that all the correct textures showed up but then I had the physics problem you are having with the bottles. They were unpickable and just stuck in the air. However, I knew that I shouldnt really try to fix my missing textures this way because the item replacer is already part of morroblvion. Soooo I gotta ask....are you maybe running Eloth's Misc Item Replacer AND Morrowind_ob.esm v31? On the release thread it says to remove the Misc Item replacer because it has been "absorbed/replaced" by v31. This might be causing your physics problems as it did for me. As for the missing textures, I eventually just got them out of the morroblivion additional support file where they are located and inserted them directly into my data files folder manually, overwriting whatever was in there last.

@Everybody: I want to point out another possible reason my textures were not there. I noticed the "Additional Support Files 2" or whatever had the same exact name as a previous version of those files i had downloaded earlier in the month. I might have accidently copied over the older files and not the NEW "Additional Support Files". Anyway, once I re-created the Morroblvion BASH folder with the correct support files (i made a new folder called Morroblivion v31 and extracted all the complete installation files and all other required files as stated on the release thread and on the readme in the correct order to that folder), re-installed Morroblivion with BASH, and manually put Eloths potion textures to the data folder the potions were there, correct textures, and they were pickable. Guess then my advice to everyone is to rename the files you download to "FileName V31" where version 31 is replaced by whatever version u are downloading. That way you never get confused and accidently install the wrong files. Or maybe they could name the files specifically for each upgrade with the version number. I always keep older downloads in case i screw up my installation somehow. Also If youre missing textures the easiest solution might just be to go find them in the files you have downloaded and copy them over to the correct directory yourself. :)
