[WIP] Southern West Gash Revival

Submitted by iceflame542 on

Just got the OK, I'm back to working on Southern West Gash! Here's an early look:

This section will span from Balmora to Caldera, including the Caldera crater. I'm working on finishing up Caldera too, now that the rest of the assets for it are being worked on.

So far, I've been working on changing up the terrain a bit. The textures labeled scrub are true scrublands now, like RomanDubina's latest concept:

Glad to see from that concept that the southern parts of the Gash will keep those pleasant rolling hills from the original.

Minor update, a small spring outside of Caldera, and a pass into the Ashlands:

Looking back at Caldera, there's still some missing textures/assets that need to be replaced, but it's a start:

I like the somewhat "alien" look of this, don't want Morrowind to be similar to real world places.

Comparison shots, Morrowind (with MGE's distant terrain) to Skywind

Btw, don't go north caldera until next merge, might cause conflicts. I havent actually done any landscaping there, but I have deleted a bunch of old assets and retextured the ground.

Caldera update!

New buildings, new crater, no more old Morrowind meshes!

The caldera crater is no longer one big upscaled mesh. Rather, its outer shell is now host to many weathered rocks and ancient flows from past eruptions. Open landscaping of the crater walls allows for a layout that can better support the town below, as well, so I will do some rearranging to make the buildings clip less.

Your work is amazing.

I've done some fixing up in the Caldera crater, and got rid of the old blue flames in anticipation of the new blue fire lava rivers. Now I'd just like to get a recolored version of the billowing steam to look a bit more sulfuric, like so:

Try and keep all the smoke chimneys vertical, These do not naturally form on an angle and the assets were modeled for vertical use :)

Isnt Caldera mine supposed to use the ma sulfur assets, which are yet to be made?
