No movement during levitation

Submitted by bobg on

None of the motion keys (W,A,D,S or arrow keys) have any effect while levitated. The ini file is plain vanilla. Do I need to change settings or is there something else wrong? AFAIK I am running the current version of Morroblivion.

To be clear, I am running under Linux/wine. Everything has worked perfectly up to this point. My character is level 12 all done in Vardenfeld. I didn't try levitation until doing a Tribunal Temple pilgrimage quest that automatically levitated him. He ended up stuck in the air about 5 feet off the ground. After that I tried rising potions and a levitate spell with the same result.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this problem.

I did a search of the forum regarding levitate and did not find any posts matching the condition I am having. I did see where the solution used to be to toggle the camera movement but then a mod fixed that and was later merged into the main .esm file.

Well, you're the first person to report such problem. Are you using the latest version of OBSE?

If you do, the only thing I can think of is that OBSE can't detect keypresses under Linux for some reason. Nothing I can do about that.

I am using OBSE v21. Walking, running, jumping, swimming are all working perfectly using W,A,S,D,Q, shift, caps lock. it's only the levitate that doesn't respond to key presses. The figure actually rotates around using the mouse but won't move forward.back, etc. Just for haha's, I tried installing and activating the original levitate.esp with no effect. For the moment, I'll consider this a Linux/wine problem. It's no big deal since I can use the old standby of console tcl command. It's just that the shrine produces a very long lasting levitate and I'm stuck there waiting for it to wear off. Perhaps the script is getting stuck somehow. My character is in a posture of 'jumping'. Thanks for your prompt response. Now I know there is no pre-discovered fix, I can just work around it and go on.

Are you using the stable 1.6 or 1.7 dev wine version? Do you use playonwine? Which GNU/Linux distribution you are using? Which native overrides you istalled with winetricks? Did you searched for similar bugs in wine?
