Overall model is great. Maybe I am a bit picky but soul gems should have defined colors like in original. Just changing hue. Some colors like in this example
Moving on to Azuras Star. I know Ravanna made a sculpt of this but it was forever ago and he never did anything more with it beyond a concept. I talked with Eloth and he gave me the green light for it. I originally thought of completely redesigning the star but after some thought I decided to update the original found in both morrowind and oblivion for consistancy. The new star will look more like the pendant found in the second image.
Next update. The High Poly is almost done and the way that the low poly is working it will probably be done shortly after that. I really want to finish this phase so that I can much around in substance painter and give it a real spin.
Okay Im necroing this thread. I had to take a haitus for personal real life issues but Im back now and hopefully I can contribute more substantially. First topic is the bonemold guard. I know that someone else is working on the hlallu guard but I believe this one is okay for the time being.
I plan on making daily updates when possible to motivate me to stay on track. Feel free to paint over, improve, critique, etc.
This is looking great so far, except I can't help but feel it looks too close-fitting, anyone else getting that? I feel bonemold should be a chunkier armour than say steel - it's not such a hard, dense material and would need to be thicker to be effective - bone is quite porous and lightweight. Also such close fitting armour would just give the impression to me of something too tailored for a common guard outfit.
You have free/unprotected zone under shoulders.
You could use it for some bone/metal/cloth mark of distinction/personality (maybe specific for family/tribe alike fetish/talisman).
This could help to make guards not so generic.
It has come to my attention that another artist is working on bonemold armor so I have shelved the guard armor for the time being. In the meantime, I have talked with Ravanna and Dragomir and they think it would be best if I work on some of the alternative bonemold helmets instead. The concepts are from this first image. I will be working on number 1 and will go down the line as I finish each one in turn.
This is a three part side view that I will update as I go. Nexos, if you are reading this, I would like to do regular paint overs with you and make corrections/improvements to the designs to make them look better and be more proportionate to the base game body. Dont worry about color or fine details for now, we can worry about that when the high poly meshes are finalized and I move on to texturing and paint. Greyscale is fine for now.
Fur/Leather armor- Orcish Style? Maybe more of a kind of armor for scouts?

Maybe you could make it more "mineral"?

Todays update
Worked on the helmet today.
Worked on the chest plate and the helmet today.
True, it isn't the type of bonemold worn by any guards though.
More helmet work today.

My thinking is that since there are over 8 varients for the bonemold armor, this guard armor would be the base generic set.
Thickened the armor, increased the size of the pauldrons, proportion changes.

Updated helmet based on Nexos' new concept for helmet #1. Requesting paintover for fixing proportions, improvements, etc.
