Faction light color

Submitted by lukkar on

Well this is small play with ideas. What do you think of specific faction color light? Yay or Nay. Of course in not so brutal total way, only one color for one house faction but domination of one color in certain areas. Predominance of them in some proportions. Additional flavor to game.

To make them more consistent there could be some smaller hue differences or different proportions.

Nah, if anything, it could be used for the entrance to the council chambers.

I think this is a nice touch.

Oil fire light have pretty faint blue component.
But more sulfur flames is always nice.

@Smite: I meant only flame color. It can be some alcohol or carbon monoxyde flame.

But anyway sulfur burning can be used for rituals alike incense.
We are talking about dunmers, who evolved (or what tale said?) on volcanic landscape.
Sulfur dioxide (not hydrogen sulfide as you meant) must be OK for them.

It must be great to show other races people choking in sacred places of this Indoril people.

FYI, making different flame colors is very simple. Especially when you are Dunmer and you live on a volcanic island. Most of salts can be prepared in a way which allow them to burn for a long time.

For example blue light can be made from Copper(II) chloride. Just google it and you'll get a lot more ways to have red, yellow, purple...

What about f14800 for house redoran? In my opinion they should have more red color. Not only to get greater diversity but especially to show their temperament.

I'd save that kind of stuff for special buildings. Like the Mages Guild, the Morag Tong (which had this horrible red lighting http://www.uesp.net/w/images/6/61/MW-npc-Ethasi_Rilvayn.jpg ), some temples with weird relics and the strip club in Suran.

It should be punctual, for very special buildings. I'm a normal guy in my country, and I probably buy the very same light bulbs as everybody else in the world. If i had a BDSM dungeon, though, maybe i wouldnt.

But that's very low priority.

By the way. We're talking about a world in which fire comes from hands. Like regular 10-fingered hands. Stop worrying about chemistry. If it's cool, it's cool. Especially for Telvanni, who are mages, and Indoril, who have a god in their city. So if we want it cyan with a red glow at the center, yes, it's possible, no need for a PhD.

1) Magic comes from hands, yes, but it's unusable on economics/common_practice level (maybe in except disease-healing in Temples). Some chemistry and real world logic/science is ok. But how often anyone using this effect in reality? Pretty rare except fireworks. I am offering just ritualistic flames of common substance.

2) Red flames associated with house Dagoth already.

Ok, I took notes what dudes above have written, and this is final suggestion. Tips which could be useful to follow. Please use them wisely.
