THE VOICE ACTING PROCESS:

Auditions for Voice Acting roles should be posted in the APPROPRIATE RACE OR UNIQUE AUDITION THREADS. Try to pick what you feel you are most suited for accent wise and give it a go! Try to make sure you have a good level of audio quality when recording, but we are looking for accents and acting ability at this stage. There are sample lines available in the first post of each audition thread. All races are currently open. You will be contacted by PM if you are selected with more instructions. We recommend that you have your tesrenewal account linked to your email so that you will be easily notified. A recording guide can be found here for tips and tricks as well as microphone and software recommendations.

FOR ASSIGNED VOICE ACTORS ONLY:

Once you are selected, please download your scripts from this sheet HERE and then use the merge script program. This is absolutely mandatory and it will save you a lot of work and keep our audio file space requirements reasonable.
Then submit a sample of 3-4 recorded lines on this page (upload via dropbox or other hosting service) for review AND message Smitehammer so someone actually looks at it, before tackling all of your lines. At this stage we are looking at audio quality so follow the guide here and you will most likely be approved. Recording two sets of your lines, one at a normal talking volume level line and a second with reduced volume for your combat (loud) lines is what we like to receive. Please submit all recordings as raw/un-altered as per our recording guide as we will be doing all mixing for consistency.
Once you get approval of your sample, record all of your lines and then link them on this page for final tweaking and submission along with your merged script so we have something for the filecutter minions to work off of. Please record your lines in the order they appear on the script so it is easy for us to cut up. If you have any questions about pronounciation feel free to post in this thread and Smitehammer will get back to you shortly. If you have questions about your lines feel free to PM Taerkalith or post on the bottom of this thread.

NOTE: If you are having trouble opening the excel files, try changing your file extension from .xls to .xlsx. This seems to fix the problem for some people.

Are any Voice Acting auditions still open? Because according to "[READ FIRST] How to apply to join Skywind team" topic the VA is not listed anymore (there is a note that some departments are currently full instead), but the on "Voice Acting Hub and Instructional Guide" it is said all races auditions are open. I just wanted to make sure as I would like to apply but wouldn't like to waste time on recording samples for audition which is closed already.

Hi Borys. Yes, all auditions are still open. Va is not listed on the main volunteer hub because the department follows a different workflow. Follow the instructions in the Voice Acting Hub and Instructional Guide and you'll be good.

Yes, Borys, it was removed from the general form as some people weren't applying properly for VA, which requires a different system. If you read the volunteer page in chronological order you'll see a link to VA volunteering a sentence or two before to try to catch the VAs before they read about the general form.

Are you making a research for now and after some time you will pick one of the people who submitted or in case someone is considered as good enough, will be asked for participation right away?

Smitehammer goes through the audition threads every week or two and will contact voice actors that we want to assign roles to. He doesn't often contact voice actors that don't make the cut, simply because the amount of extra work that is. In short, you should hear back relatively soon if your accent is good and your sound quality is at least OK.

Hi everyone, I hope all are well! New here; sort of garnered up the courage to finally look into anything where any help might be needed! Is there any way to find out what roles/voices might still be needed/auditioned for (I know you've all been at this for some time so I wouldn't be sure where to start, exactly), and/or tips/tricks for auditions?

Auditions don't need to be too fancy (er, I'm sure in the tips/tricks they'd have where to start from the beginning/what starting equipment needed), do they? I might or might not be able to get access to a better recording area and equipment if I somehow match something you need. [External image]

For auditions, just post an auditions in the thread corresponding to the race you would like to voice. You will find tips on the opening post for each kind of voice in the voice acting division of the forum. Be sure to have good sound quality, for it is the first thing we listen to.

I'm thinking of volunteering

I'm thinking of volunteering on the project but first want to ask how many and which roles are there still to be covered by voice actors. I have to make sure that there are still interesting and suiting roles left, because I want to improve my set up. (At the time I have only a HyperX Cloud II Headset to record the sound.)
