Well I know it wasn't in MW but fits to imperial shrines.
This what I found on imperial library:
Some lore
Kneel down and pray to the Nine Divines. This is the most important religious order in Cyrodiil. It combines the eight Aedra with the god-hero Tiber Septim.
In Daggerfall, there were eight Divines. The five gods and three goddesses spread their influence throughout the area in individual temples. A person could join a specific temple and receive extensive and unusual services if the person successfully performed the assigned quests and patronized a particular God or Goddess.
In Morrowind, Tiber Septim was mysteriously (and inexplicably) combined with the eight Aedra to form the Imperial Cult. There were no longer individual temples to each deity. Imperial Cult priests provided worship and services for all these gods at Imperial Shrines.
This is how it looked in game:
Honestly I aim more in witcher direction, you will see why
example
So this is what I have already done. It needs a bit clean up, adding strength to particular lines (find better balance) and fill barren spaces with sth cool enough (or leave it empty). Now it is just done lineart. And off course I'm aware that some places need connecting (technology of stained glass). As any religious depiction it should contain a lot of symbolic stuff like for example Hieronymus Bosch paintings or Jan van Eyck.
all together
Good critique will be appreciate, especially if I treat it as portfolio piece. So best possible result in some reasonable timeline would be cool. Feedback will help me do it better, so thanks in advance. I don't mind of some overpainting also.
----------
It would be cool if critique in this thread will be divided on three categories:
Esthetics: well just look, and if you can recognize everything. And also anatomy, balance etc.
Symbolism: if used examples depict well enough some features. Lore etc.
Overall: Just overall direction in representation of this character. Overall impact. Do it more dynamic or static etc. and so on and so on.
Akatosh
Akatosh is the chief deity of the Nine Divines (the prescribed religious cults of Cyrodiil and its provinces), and one of two deities found in every Tamrielic religion (the other is Lorkhan). He is generally considered to be the first of the Gods to form in the Beginning Place; after his establishment, other spirits found the process of being easier and the various pantheons of the world emerged. He is the ultimate God of the Cyrodilic Empire, where he embodies the qualities of endurance, invincibility, and everlasting legitimacy.
Yeah, this one is quite WIP. It looks chaotic but I will give a weight to several lines to make it more clear. So I wanted to make this dragon in look like it is built from little flames. In his claws it holds it is amulet of kings btw. Maybe head could look a bit better.
Arkay
Member of the Nine Divines pantheon, and popular elsewhere as well. Arkay is often more important in those cultures where his father, Akatosh, is either less related to time or where his time aspects are difficult to comprehend by the layman. He is the god of burials and funeral rites, and is sometimes associated with the seasons. His priests are staunch opponents of necromancy and all forms of the undead. It is said that Arkay did not exist before the world was created by the gods under Lorkhan's supervision/urging/trickery. Therefore, he is sometimes called the Mortals' God.
Not sure what to put in empty places on tombstones. Some sentences? any ideas?
I aim in roman/greek style so I thought it would be nice to include this symbol.
"Memento Mori" remember about death in loose translation. Fresco found in Pompeii. Not sure how imperials see afterlife (any lore?). I just created balance on wheel, on the left are good deeds, on the right are bad deeds. Under skull is moth which represents empire and wheel which represent how unstable fortune is.
Dibella
Popular god of the Nine Divines. In Cyrodiil, she has nearly a dozen different cults, some devoted to women, some to artists and aesthetics, and others to erotic instruction.
Need a bit clean up. I think it is ok. Maybe not sure about her left leg.
Julianos
Often associated with Jhunal, the Nordic father of language and mathematics, Julianos is the Cyrodilic god of literature, law, history, and contradiction. Monastic orders founded by Tiber Septim and dedicated to Julianos are the keepers of the Elder Scrolls.
On stone tablet, we have written laws. It just needs a bit more balance with lines.
Kynareth
Kynareth is the strongest of the Sky spirits and is the deity of the heavens, the winds, the elements, and the unseen spirits of the air. Patron of sailors and travelers, Kynareth is invoked for auspicious stars at birth and for good fortune in daily life. In some legends, she is the first to agree to Lorkhan's plan to invent the mortal plane, and provides the space for its creation in the void. She is also associated with rain, a phenomenon said not to occur before the removal of Lorkhan's divine spark.
Lines just need balance.
Mara
Nearly universal goddess. Origins started in mythic times as a fertility goddess. In Skyrim, Mara is a handmaiden of Kyne. In the Empire, she is Mother-Goddess. She is sometimes associated with Nir of the 'Anuad', the female principle of the cosmos that gave birth to creation. Depending on the religion, she is either married to Akatosh or Lorkhan, or the concubine of both.
On the bottom is plain of existence.
Stendarr
Stendarr is the patron of righteous might and merciful forbearance. He is the inspiration of magistrates and rulers, the patron of the Imperial Legions, and the comfort of the law-abiding citizen. Stendarr has evolved from his Nordic origins into a deity of compassion or, sometimes, righteous rule. He is said to have accompanied Tiber Septim in his later years. In early Altmeri legends, Stendarr is the apologist of Men.
He has leather lash in his left hand.
Talos
Tiber Septim, Talos, the Dragonborn, Heir to the Seat of Sundered Kings, is the greatest hero-god of Mankind, and worshipped as the protector and patron of just rulership and civil society. Tiber Septim conquered all of Tamriel and ushered in the Third Era and the Third Empire. In his aspect of Ysmir, 'Dragon of the North,' Tiber Septim is also invoked as the patron of questing heroes.
He is standing on banners of defeated enemies. I couldn't any lore examples so used flags from this guy. I have to also ask for permission to use. I remember that sb did skulls of other races (probably Rav), can anyone send a link?
Zenithar
Zenithar is the deity of wealth, labor, commerce, and communication. His priests have shown that the way to peace and prosperity is through earnest work and honest profit, not through war and bloodshed. Zenithar is understandably associated with Z'en. In the Empire, however, he is a far more cultivated god of merchants and middle nobility. His worshippers say, despite his mysterious origins, Zenithar is the god 'that will always win'.
Not sure about shaking hands and whole "emblem". It reminds me a bit soviet style.
So this is all for now. Good stage for comments. I'm waiting for feedback.
