[CODING][ANIMATION][MODELLING][MISC] Part time volunteer

I am extremely impressed by what the Skyrim modders community have achieved, and I am keen to learn more about the behind the scenes workflows, at the same time as lending a hand in whatever way I can assist.

I also have a very keen son (coding wiz) and daughter (artist) that would be interested in this project, with whom I intend to share whatever I learn as I go along.

Long term I have grand plans for using the technology to gamify education.  (Imagine a course on philosophy where the required reading was completion of a Morrowind style quest.)

My maximum involvement is limited to under 20 hours per week, which would necessarily include a lot of up-front basic tutorial stuff to get up to speed.  Although I mentioned voice work on my application, I have a pronounced 'down-under' accent that would likely only work for comical characters.

Hi James, it would be nice to

Hi James, it would be nice to get a small task that you can spread around your family, but its reasonable hard to get going as you will need to at least learn some of the software of the game.

My suggest is to do the the tutorials on http://www.creationkit.com to get an idea of the Skyrim engine.

What ages are your son and daughter? If they are young enough then going through the tutorials together would probably be fun.

Then we can look at a task that might involve a concept drawing from your daughter, to then making it possible in game. Kind of nice to see how things concept from beginning to final game.

Hi grumpycat,

Hi grumpycat,

The kids are 10 (the coder)  and 12 (the artist).

I will do as you suggest and run through the tutorial with the kids, or at least with the coder.

Meantime, I'll also encourage the artist to play through the main questlines of Morrowind to get a feel for the atmosphere of the original game.
