Morrowind_ob.esm Without Installer Request

Submitted by ghksfd on

Could you please also release the newest version of the "Morrowind_ob.esm", without the installer? The installer does not recognize the UK version of Morrowind GOTY.

I am still using version 029 (the version without the installer, which I manually put it into the proper folder), which it works perfectly. All the subsequent versions up to 033 now are all with the installer and none of them work  unfortunately.

I always thoroughly enjoy Morroblivion and really wish to taste the fruitages of the hard work of the team after v. 029... *sigh*

Morroblivion is wrapped in an installer to insure that players have purchased Morrowind. It is done this way on purpose; it will not be released separately. The Installer checks for the presence of Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon, not GOTY. If it is not recognizing, then you have not installed Morrowind properly.

Questions:

1. Forgive me but I am really puzzled, because If Morrowind is not installed properly, then why is v. 029 able to function properly now?

2. What and where exactly is the installer checking for, for the presence of Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon? I want to make sure they are presented. (As you know, GOTY installed them altogether)

3. I am using Windows XP and with both Morrowind and Oblivion installed in the "Program Files" directory. Do I have to switch the location from "Program Files" to the "Games" folder also, under drive C:, which other folks using Windows 7 or Vista do?

Forgive me for repeating this, but I really want to fix the problem, if possible. Thank you for answering.

It does not matter where or how Morrowind is Installed, just that it -IS- Installed. The game is Oblivion; Morrowind is totally superfluous since I released the "Complete Installation." That is why the installer is important, to insure that players have purchased and installed Morrowind. I don't know what else to say. Can you Play Morrowind/Bloodmoon/Tribunal on your computer from your current installation? I believe the installer is looking for Morrowind.esm, Bloodmoon.esm and Tribunal.esm in the directory that you tell it for Morrowind. The "Program Files" thing does not matter on an XP machine.

The installer doesn't care which international version of morrowind you have; I have gone through the code myself. If you're not using windows 7, sever 2008, or vista, you can install the games anywhere. You have to have both morrowind expansions installed to pass the installers checks

Also, you have to have the latest .net framework installed. Get it from microsofts website.

-"I believe the installer is looking for Morrowind.esm, Bloodmoon.esm and Tribunal.esm in the directory that you tell it for Morrowind."-

Thanks for being specific, and that solved the problem. I only had Morrowind.esm in the directory, that's why the installer wasn't working. I installed Tribunal and Bloodmoon from the UK Morrowind GOTY game disc, and now the installer worked fine.

I wasn't aware of this issue since I could travelled to Mournhold in Morroblivion without any problem, and therefore assumed that I had Tribunal installed. And now, of course, there is no need to have a seperate Morrowind_ob.esm Without the Installer. Thank you both for answering.
