I think you should keep in mind that the helmet its-self is made from troll bone, having the design akin to something more insect-like seems very pointless. What's the point of having it made from troll bone in the lore, if it is not clearly shown in the actual design? Remember that just because it's in morrowind does not mean it HAS to look completely alien/Foreign.  I would suggest going for something perhaps slightly more Nordic, which would mirror the original very well, or perhaps something elvish (High elvish) as the creator of the helmet was mannimarco.

This looks really cool, great! The render is great, I´ld vote for the last, brown colors. Only thing I would change is the chin part of the helm, it reminds me to the mascs from Mortal Kombat (Scorpion, Sub Zero). Perhaps you can defamiliarize it by adding some stings or structure on the chin, like the horn of a stag bettle or sth...

I really like your reference, and while I like where you're going, your concept almost feels too reasonable. I think you can go crazier, scarier. :)

While the concept art is good, the bloodworm helm is basically nothing more than a troll skull so I dont really know about this

A unique design that still looks similar to the original, Like I said the weird H.R Giger design just looks really out of place.

It doesn't need to be a troll skull. This was mannimarco's helmet. He's too much of a classy badass to wear a troll skull anyway. I'm all for a redesign - though I'm still not a fan of the current design ideas.

I agree that we shouldn't just use the same design as the original (Btw thats the oblivion version) But we should atleast keep to the lore, which says that it is made from troll bone.  Also, We have to take into account that mannimarco isn't a dunmer, so any dark elf designs should be out the door.

Mannimarco is said to have acid flowing through his veins.  Perhaps his helm could reflect that by being melted and caustic looking.  It could be made out of a troll skull, but the skull could be pitted and deformed.

I'm agreed with darkslayer here - the current design is fancy but reminds me too much of a motorcycle crash helmet and I think something more morbid would look cooler.

That's very cool indeed, and I like how it works in the original face-hugger feeling. Reminds me a lot of Jackson's depiction of the Mouth of Sauron in The Return of the King:

Dude, as both both the staff of worms and the blood worm helm are made by Manimarco perhaps the person making the staff of worms should consulted for ideas so that some unity may be had in the motifs. im sure Manimarcos tastes would change through the centuries however he is still the same person. just an idea, i love nexos's design i just think that adding a bit of variance to the color pallet really makes it pop. So i made a small color edit to show this, i went with bleached bone and gold for the colors, after all this is a high elf we are talking about they love gold.

Too be honest the yellow really detracts from the design, not really adding much too it. And besides, why does every mannimarco creation have to use the same motif. In the lore it is said that he only really just enchanted the helmet, which leads me to an interesting idea. 

In a book or some dialogue or something it could mention that mannimarco enchanted a regular helmet, but due to his shear dark power (Or something) it became warped/distorted, thus creating the bloodworm helmet seen above. Idk food for thought..

I love the new design, and I think that the spikes rising in the back seem to befit the kingly aesthetic ascribed to mannimarco. The only thing I might suggest is to add little runes or design on the front that at the very least suggests the resemblance of a eyes/face similar to those on the cultist mask from the dragonborn expansion.

One thing: would be nice (at least for author) to imagine this creature alive.
Helmets do not grow on trees, and this things don't looks as artificial.

1. I think Nexos' design is superior to Troll skull and to design of the Dude (but that's cool too).
2. Would be better to turn it's extremities into functional arthropod legs (and helm itself would be a thorax then).
3. This creature can be same as depicted on Redoran house' flags.
4. Bone coloration is used in Morrowind pretty everywhere. Maybe some dark chitine would be better.
5. Like that (5a - pic) or:
       5b: legs could be arranged in one sheaf/horse tail
       5c: cutted, leaving holes for hearing/breathe.
       5d: posed as crown (as on original Nexos' pic, but with real legs)

Would that really be necessary though? Why would it need to be made out of some sort of insect? I think we should just leave nexo's design as it is, besides adding the runes mentioned above. It's a pretty nice re-creation of the original helmet, still looking very boney (Heh) as well as morbid and depraved. It just looks cool, and in my opinion adding insect components would just ruin it.

Also. Mannimarco isn't a dunmer, and probably wouldn't be too interested in dunmer design either, so having it resemble the redoran flag logically wouldn't make a huge amount of sense.

Both designs are based on living creature parts.
That would be nice to add more artificially made parts, though.

Hmm, I'm really not sure about the re-paint, kinda takes alot of the morbid sense out of it, looks less skeletal now..

Making some holes for eyes and nose. I know this is fantasy world but as much we keep more or less realistic approach to design it would be nice to keep it. Also our project is volunteer so in some future sb could do some mod like that (limited vision due to helmet) So it will nice nice to avoid future problems. IMHO I prefer upper example. But third one of yours could be nice too.
