Vvardenfell_Imports.esp

Submitted by esmoon on

When unzipping all of the VI files into their appropriate places, I always end up with 2 Vvardenfell_Imports.esp files. One of which is in the base folder alongside the Data folder, and the other is actually inside the Data folder alongside the Textures and Meshes folders.

So...

1) Which file is in the correct location?
2) Which is the correct file to use?

Thank you in advance!

Just to clarify, one of the .esp files is 202kb, the other is 211kb.

The Vvardenfell Imports files are messy. Starting with the following files:

  • Vvardenfell_Imports_1.7z
  • VVardenfell_Imports_2.7z
  • Vvardenfell_Imports_Part_3-28245.7z
  • Vvardenfell_Imports_Addon.7z
  • Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_1-28245.7z
  • Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_2-28245.7z
  • Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_3-28245.7z

If you extract them all to their default folders you'd get:

  • Vvardenfell Imports 1
  • VVardenfell Imports 2
  • Vvardenfell Imports 3
  • Vvardenfell Imports Addon
  • Vvardenfell Imports 1.1 Patch 1
  • Data
  • Vvardenfell Imports Patch 4

The best way to deal with this is to use Wyre Bash. Try putting Vvardenfell Imports parts 1-3 in the same folder and everything else in its own folder.

Then order them in Wyre Bash something like this:

  • 0 Vvardenfell_Imports
  • 1 Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_1
  • 2 Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_2
  • 3 Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_3
  • 4 Vvardenfell_Imports_Addon

Hopefully that should work ok. I wrote about this from a Linux user's point of view here, which while much of it isn't relevant for Windows users, does go into the horribleness that is the VI archives...

Seriously, use Wyre Bash.

Well, I did try Wrye Bash previously. Twice. It worked better than the initial two manual installation attempts the second time, but almost everyone had missing body armor (and bodies in some cases). There were floating arms, legs and heads all over the place.

So I wanted to try at another manual install. Just to see if I could get it right. The instructions aren't as detailed as they could be, at parts it kind of seems like they just expect us to know what to do (likely because the author knew what to do themselves).

I'd really appreciate it, though, if someone could please let me know which Vvardenfell_Imports.esp file is the correct one.
I'd also really appreciate knowing which location is the correct one.

Thanks,
Eric

No problems, you're quite right it isn't a simple install ;)

Ok, the "Vvardenfell Imports Part 3" archive has the 201KB file and the "Vvardenfell Imports Addon" archive has the 211KB file (I'm rounding down ;)). I use the 211KB file because the readme says:

"Adds 6 armor sets to Vvardenfell Imports.  Vvardenfell Imports is required.  (Please overwrite original esp with esp contained in this release)."

This seems to work fine for me, haven't seen any missing textures, etc. except the one described here, which I posted a fix for...

Best of luck with the installation!

Rob

PS. The reason you get one file outside the data folder is because the "Vvardenfell Imports Part 3" archive does not have a seperate data folder like the other archives do (unfortunately the folder structure inside the archives is very inconsistent). You have to be really careful how you extract those files... The correct location is under the Data folder.

Woohoo! Thank you HeWhoWatches! I finally got it working today. Essentially what I did was to extract all of the different MOD files into their own folders. Then I merged them all together into the Oblivion folder in the correct order. It was slow and tedious, but it was incredibly simple. This has made Morrowind a new game again! I love this mod... I'll definitely be downloading some more retextures and replacers.

Does the Morrowind Overhaul work on this? The OMGE or whatever?

Glad I could help! :D

Erm, not sure about the Morrowind Overhaul but if it's a mod originally designed for the Morrowind game engine then probably not - I'm sure someone else may be able to offer a definitive answer...
