for those unlucky installing Morroblivion 033

For a hundred different reasons, people get something wrong when they install Morroblivion.

I have no magical solution to offer on this. I'm scratching my head as much as anyonelse trying to come up with helpful advice and ideas.

But here's an attempt  to shed some light on some of what's going on when installing the different parts of the mod.

Maybe that will help some people identifying some problems.

In most cases missing nifs and textures should not occure if everythings been installed correctly, so most issues arising probably are the result of an unlucky install. But nothing is ever 100% perfect so anything can happen and will happen sometimes.

Here's showing what happens as you progress with the installation of the many files that make Morroblivion happen. So maybe if you're missing nifs and textures, something here will look familiar to you.

everybody IMO need to have wrye Bash properly installed and up and running. After all, there are some excellent videos covering that part. With Wry Bash at your disposal,  uninstalling and reinstalling mods is a piece of cake, and so for troubleshooting one's Morroblivion  installment, wrye Bash  would be above all others, the ideal tool for the job.

Concerning these necessary files,

Vvardenfell Imports 1

VVardenfell Imports 2

Vvardenfell Imports 1.1

Vvardenfell_Imports_Patch_2

Vvardenfell_Imports_Addon

putting all these together in a folder of its own, for practicality is really the way to go.

Remember there's no need for the esp or the Vvardenfell_Imports_Part_3

Then it's a matter of dragging all the necessary morroblivion files into wrye bash.

Looks somewhat like this :

For this example though, I'm not installing everything, like the lute and the werewolf..

So with the esm installed, I'm going to show different scenarios where not all files and textures are yet installed,

This way atleast there is a small chance it might help someone missing files, to point figure out what might have gone wrong..

Let's set the stage:

Remember the office where you get your money and instructions to go to Balmora to deliver some package?

I'm going to use that office as an example to show nifs, and I'm going to use some potions on display in the Ashmelech to show textures because I know there's an issue with those potiontextures..

Ok here we go.

First I install the Morroblivion esm so I can look at things in game and in the editor as I keep installing new stuff.

This is what the office will look like if you have the Complete Morroblivion installation  installed, but without

: Vvardenfell Imports, Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients, Additional Support Files 1, Additional Support Files 2

[External image]

Notice amongst other things, the officer's cuirass missing.

If you're experiencing missing nifs and the officers armor is missing, maybe there's a problem with  Vvardenfell Imports.

Here is the office and the potions with

Vvardenfell Imports, Morroblivion Complete Install, Additional Support Files 1  installed, but

without : Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients, Additional Support Files 2

[External image]

Notice the potions having the old nifs and textures, notice the officer now has a cuirass, also notice the candle tipped over

Now let's add Aditional Supportfiles 2 to our cocktail. Here's what things look like with

Vvardenfell Imports, Morroblivion Complete Install, Additional Support Files 1, Additional Support Files 2 installed, without : Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients

[External image]

Notice how the tipped over candle now stands up strait, and the potions on display at    Ashmelech has been replaced and the new nifs look cool but lack any acompanying textures.

If your experiencing a problem and see the candle tipped over, then you might have an issue lacking some files from   Additional Support Files 2

Let's add the   Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients

Here's what those things look like  with

Vvardenfell Imports, Morroblivion Complete Install, Additional Support Files 1, Additional Support Files 2 and  Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients installed

[External image]

See how everything now looks different,    Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients  took care of the remaining yellow missing nif symbols for us.

The potions now have also been updated somewhat as they now one more texture available, still missing most textures though.

If you are experiencing yellow missing nif tags at this stage in installation, then you need to check to see if your   Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients was installed correctly, because by now, there should be no missing nifs, ok?

As the Visual Overhaul  is popular, we are now going to add this to our mix and see what happens. I enjoy modding so texture replacers are not something I would normally use, I find they complicate modding a bit.

But this is for those who enjoy superior textures in their game so I  include the most popular texture replacer out there, the   Visual Overhaul by Eloth

This is what it looks like with    Vvardenfell Imports, Morroblivion Complete Install, Additional Support Files 1, Additional Support Files 2 and  Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients and Visual Overhaul  installed

[External image]

Now you will notice a graphical improvement, the office floor texture has changed for example.

But the visual Overhaul did very little to help with our potions. Still lacking textures there.

So we still haven't installed any thing containing these textures.

However there is one sideeffect to take into concideration.

If we step out side of the office now we will find that the meshes keeping the lanterns from falling to the ground has been replaced by Visual Overhaul.

And the versions included in Visual Overhaul has no collision so the lanterns fall to the ground.

As seen in this picture

SO concerning the lanterns falling to the ground.

A way to make sure the lanterns won't fall to the ground after installing Visual Overhaul, would be to locate the folder Additional Support Files 2\Data\Meshes\morro\f.

Copy the files within, and let those files in that folder overwrite the files with the same name in your  Oblivion\Data\Meshes\morro\f folder.

Or if you do not know how to do this, you could as a last resort let Wrye Bash install the Additional Support Files 2, last.

Now we will install the  MorroblivionMiscItemsV5, this can be downloaded from the same forum thread as Visual Overhaul.

[External image]

Alas with the  Vvardenfell Imports, Morroblivion Complete Install, Additional Support Files 1, Additional Support Files 2 and  Eloths Misc Items & Ingredients and Visual Overhaul, and the MorroblivionMiscItemsV5 installed

our potions finally get some textures. Voila!

Hope this information was in some obscure fashion, somewhat useful.

Thanks for this, I suppose this information regarding the lanterns is valid for v 0.34 as well.

By the way, I am still not clear which mods are redundant with the new v0.34 esm. There are quite a few old mods in this forum, and some of them might not be recommended anymore with the new version of MO, so if anyone can clarify, that'd be great!

I saw in some other post on these forums that bread etc. had been havoc'ed. In my current game, I cannot pick or select bread, but can pick up the baskets below the bread.

Has this also been altered by eloth's visual overhaul? If so, which meshes should be overwriten? I can copy them and overwrite eloth's or other overhauls accordingly. Thanks for any inputs!

The bread you remember had physics comes with Morroblivion complete intallation part1. It is named ingredUbreadU01.nif and is about 5kb

During installation of the various compnents that make up Morroblivion, that nif is soon overwritten by another ingredUbreadU01.nif (10kb)which has no physics enabled. Actually this happens when you install Morroblivion Miscellanesous Items & Ingredients.

However neither of those two are used any more you see, because the Morrowind_ob.esm exlusively uses a new mesh named NBbread01.nif for all the Morrowind bread.

And unfortunately, the NBbread01.nif (also from Morroblivion Miscellanesous Items & Ingredients btw)  has no physics enabled.

Both the ingredUbreadU01.nif (5kb & 10kb) and the NBbread01.nif (63kb) have a large open gap on the underside of the mesh, so if you were able to flip them over, they would look funny.

I wonder why the bread has no physics anymore, enabling physics and closing the big gap on the underside of the mesh is fairly easy.
