Ring of Fleabite

Submitted by InsectEmu8 on

So I dont know how this exactly happened, but somebody attacked me with a ring of fleabite (I'll assume that he was wearing it) which normally damages fatigue some.  Well the ring apparently left a curse on me that "damages" my fatigue constantly, and it just saps me untill I pass out on the ground, and then it keeps sapping me more so that I have a negative fatigue.  The only way I can keep walking around is by wearing an amulet of stamina, which restores 20 fatigue per second.  I've tried the chapels, dispels, cure diseases spells and potions.  And i dont know how to get rid of it.  The curse is defined as an enchantment that damages fatigue 13 points.

Have you tried a potion of dispel?

Well you could try the console command "dispel <Spell Code>". The area surrounded by the carrots is where the spell id goes. In order to find the spell id you must use FormID to find the spell in the construction set.

AFAIK casting things via items is bugged as hell, I take it your not accidentaly wearing some cursed ring or something?

You could also try typing dispelallspells in the console, according to wiki it should work on everything apart from targeted enchantments, not entirely sure what catagory this spell fits into but I think it should work.

The dispelallspells command didnt work, and I'm very inexperience when it come to actually doing the modding haha, I'm just here to make videos and play it.  Though I'll assume that since the dispelallspells command didnt work the dispel <spellID> won't work either.  The spell is recorded under my self spell list as an enchantment even though I'm not wearing the ring.  So if there's any way to clear a targeted enchantment, that would be awesome.

Just been in the Construction Set, stupid me, as this does'nt actually have a spell code it's not officially counted as a spell, so neither of those will work.

I would honestly consider loading an old save or debugging via cheating, ie boosting your fatigue so much as to counter the fleabite spell, getav fatigue 150 maybe?

Or ofcourse you could wait till they fix all the item enchantments, but due to sheer immensity of the amount of items I doubt this will happen anytime soon.

Also, lumberjack is defenetly one of the boss tier classes.

Yeah, Is there any way to look at a saved game in the CS?  And is there any way to remove an enchantment while looking at the saved game?  Sorry I'm new to the CS.

Also I'd rather not reload, because it happened so long ago.  I've been getting by wearing an amulet of stamina, which restores 20 fatigue per second, though I would like my amulet item space cleared up haha

The way this works in-game makes this item cursed. I cannot explain somebody "attacking" you with it, because that seems technically impossible. It seems more likely that you are wearing the ring. Several modders have attempted to recreate Morrowind magic with varrying degrees of success. In this case, it is obviously a complete fail, so I have removed the enchantment for the next version. Unfortunately, this will make the item another useless piece of junk.

I should note that the 20 fatigue per second amulet is bugged as well, it should be a casted spell but due to the weird way the enchantments work in their converted state you can use it to overcome your bug.

I've looked at about anything I can think of and as Dubreck says it's not supposed to work like this. The enchantment does'nt refer back to any kind of spell (there is'nt even one called drain fatigue) and it behaves as if your wearing it, from you already having this problem so long and I already asked you I'll assume your not wearing the thing though.

The only thing I can honestly think of that might be able to truly fix this is some form of removeallspelleffects command in script format, I have not been able to find anything like that though and fear it simply is'nt there.

As purely a way of fixing the problem, I could give you a mod for an item that equips without needing a bodypart (will prolly make it a ring or tail item if that doesnt work, I think you could in the Morrowind TES though) that gives you 13 fatigue regen per second, countering the spell.

Best I can think of I'm afraid.

Have you considered taking a fleabath? Joking. Sorry. My bad.

So fleabite is a clothing “fbmwringoffleabite”, a spell “0fleabite”, and an enchantment “0fleabiteUen”.

The spell is on touch. The enchantment is on self, and is drain 13. So I think somehow you are still wearing the ring. I made an esp that changes that drain 13 to drain 0. Try this mod. If it fixes the problem, then you must still be wearing the ring. You can find a way to take the ring off, or just keep the mod on. Let me know if this helps. ;)

EDIT:

I tested it, and it won't take a drain of 0, so it sets it to 5. Forget this esp; I'll upload an updated one.

Okay. I edited this esp to altogether remove the fleabite enchantment. See if this solves your problem. The above esp I suggested is the same as this one, but the above one will reduce the drain to 5 (I think), while this one will remove it completely.

Hmmm.... Your esp didnt work for me, though I really wish it had.  As for wearing the ring though, of course i'm not wearing it... I usually leave stuff like that alone.  Though I encountered another situation like it... luckily it was more obvious and I could reload.

The Telvanni Quest that makes you go get the Black Jinx (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Black_Jinx) gave me the same problem.  Alven, the guy who has the ring, wears it. and it is a burden spell that is cast on touch.  What happened when he attacked me is that every couple of attacks a stack of that burden spell would get stuck on me in the exact same way that this stupid fatigue curse is. (heres the ring UESP: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Quest_Items#Black_Jinx) I'm sure if you attack him, you'll see what I mean.

As for the extra item, if I knew how to equip it to a third ring slot, then I would make it myself... but like I said, I'm rubbish at modding.  Though I think the cape I'm wearing is equipped to the tail slot.

I considered removing the entire enchantment, but I figured the spell would have already been converted to it's -stat equivelant, even though it might not have helped him I find this very useful to know, providing more insight into the straaaaange way enchanted items work right now.

And Insect is right, NPC's can cast alot of spells that players can't, altough I hav'nt had the misfortune of this particular type of spell I've seen em use on touch attack powers and summoning amulets, all of which don't work for the player, and I've even had a a lightning on target amulet that I could cast by equiping en deequiping (why this works and the summons dont is beyond me I fear). I know the most logical thing to asume is him still wearing the thing but after all this time and being asked about it 4 times I don't think so.

Also, I'm reverting the title, as it was kinda confusing me and a bit unecessary.

Anyway, I'll prolly put together a set of 3 or so items if I can't get it to work as a slotless one so you can see for yourself which of the more obscure body parts your not using and use the apropriate one. I'll prolly have it up in an hour or so (just came home from work).

Alright, put it all together, it's called the Ring of the Flea-King, it's in world model is a Daedric Warhammer (those tiny rings can be so easy to miss), icon of a pumpkin (I'd have used a ring if the file structure was'nt hell) and lacking a biped model so it won't change how you look, and ofcourse it's not assigned to any body part so it won't occupy a much needed ring slot.

I placed one in the Ald Ruhn guild of Mages, it's to the left of the plant you see emediatly when you walk in, it looks like a Daedric Warhammer so should be pretty hard to miss.

Alternatively you can use the console to type in: additem 02001074 1

Tested it and I could pick it up and wear it, due to my character being a bit overleved I could'nt see whether it had any effect but as the tooltip said it's effect is restore fatigue 13 constant effect so I'm guessing it's fine (in the editor though I set it up as a 1 sec 13 fat rest on self with a casting cost of 5 or so, but we've seen the game process this information in this way several time already).

I removed the enchantment in v035 as I said I would.

Thank you Wodan, The ring (or hammer or pumpkin... w/e) works wonderfully.  And thak you as well David, I now know that my future characters are safe.

Glad to be of service, also, if you encounter units like this again (considering the amount of stat killing enchantments in this game) just open the console, click on them and use the kill command (just 'kill'), it should still give you the 'killed unit' quest completion mark but without any bounty on your head.

And David, my bad, kind of assumed that iceburg changed it because he assumed the issue was fixed for the OP instead of for the next version. Not wanting to be presumptuous and all.

Cool. I'm glad David and Wodan got it working. That baffles me that cutting the enchantment didn't kill it. Weird. Oh well, glad it worked! :D

Yeah I ended up using the "kill" command on the guy that held the black jinx earlier in the game... I just decided I didnt want to stress out trying to have a flawless fight with him haha
