need texture help

Submitted by a random guy on

Ok, so let me say that I have been interested in this mod for a long time, but not til recently did I successfully download vvardenfell imports. So that is working, but I have a new problem. All the textures except the ground are purple. Also, I manually installed it instead of using wyre bash because it didnt work. The .txt for it gives me this message-

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw", line 31, in <module>
File "bash.pyo", line 311, in main
File "basher.pyo", line 15386, in InitLinks
File "basher.pyo", line 14297, in InitStatusBar
IndexError: tuple index out of range

I was supposed to put the textures, meshes and all from the mod in data and merge them with other files, right? Also, what is this problem with being installed to program files. I have had oblivion for a while without problem on my windows 7. Could this be the cause of these textures? I am hoping to try this before skyrim. Oh, last thing, I found a list of stuff to get rid of, one was the eloth misc items and ingredients. I think I put it in morroblivion folder. Not sure if that was right. But if I redownload morroblivion overwriting that stuff will that work. Load order is correct, before you ask. Thanks. Hope for an answer soon.

btw, i moved oblivion and morrowind to games instead of program files. should that fix the problem or must i still reinstall.

Did you use the "Oblivion Mod Manager" to invalidate or validate added files.

You can't just 'move' the installation.  You have to uninstall and then reinstall.  That is why you are missing textures.

You only have to avoid c:\program files\ if you are using Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2008.  This is because these versions of Windows do not react well to the game mods; the games themselves, when unmodded, work fine in c:\program files\

well, not what i had hoped. but if i must, i will do that. i want to play this before skyrim so bad, i have used so much time, i am not giving up now. so, do i uninstall morrowind? or just oblivion. thank you for the help, btw.

If you have no intention of playing the original morrowind game, you can probably just leave it where it is.  You will have to remove and uninstall all oblivion files and start over then.

If you are new at modding oblivion, check out the links and videos on the installation page.  An experienced user of oblivion mods can install all of morroblivion from scratch in 30-60 minutes.  If you are serious about Elder Scrolls games (and Fallout 3 / New Vegas), there is a bit of learning on the front end but being able to use and manage mods effectively is REALLY worth it.

yeah i watched those first time because this was really so advanced compared to other mods. really helped out. hopefully after i uninstall and reinstall it should work. i have uninstalled official dlcs and getting to the game. then i will reinstall all and hope that this works. i should get the misc items this time though, should I?

i uninstalled and removed all files in oblivion folder. i should be able to get the obse and all that back right, or do i need to uninstall those somewhere?

i always error on the safe side: uninstall every single thing possible and start over fresh.

for me, a full, complete uninstalling should entail:

* going through all of the things that can be uninstalled using the "Programs" (or "add/remove programs" functionality of windows, and uninstalling them there.  this includes oblivion, dlc, unoffical patchs, BOSS, wyre bash, and a few others, if i remember correctly

* deleting all of the other files in you oblivion directory, and the oblivion directory itself

* deleting all of the files in my documents\my games\oblivion\ -- CAREFUL, this is where your savegames are stored, so you may want to leave the "SAVES" folder in there.
