Amulet summoning.

Submitted by brutal7 on

While playing the Telvanni agent fighers guild quest, i found two amulets. The graveward amulet and the amulet of shades.

One is supposed to summons a skeleton

The other one is supposed to summons a zombie, (Of course there are no zombies in morrowind so it must of been changed from bonewalker during the conversion)

Neither one of these amulets actually summons anything. Hopfully this will be fixed.

Ok, I've had a look at this and found that the spell effect (in this case, 0summonSleastSbonewalker for the Amulet of Shades) works fine as a potion, just not when applied to an amulet. However, I've tried it and it will work if we use a modified version of the script: 0AAMWFiendTantoSCRIPT.

I've uploaded a 7zip archive here containing an esp file that adds a script for both of the amulets (also included as text files). Please can you test these and see what you think?

Right, bedtime for me. It's my stag do tomorrow (we're going paintballing).

No problem, just test when you get a chance ;)

I think this may be causing a memory leak somehow.  I can't be certain, but when I remove the scripts and restarted, I didn't have a leak again.  Do the amulets use the same technique as the "cast on use" rings?

Hay, He

If you'll look at them, just about all amulets and rings that have a spell effect attached are in the same condition and have been since at least v. 35. That's as far back as I have ..

@JamesBond:

Thanks for testing! Can you tell me how are you determining you have a memory leak (i.e. what are the symptoms, how were you measuring this empirically, etc.)?

Do the amulets use the same technique as the "cast on use" rings?

Er... how do you mean? In the CS, the ways the rings and amulets are set up at present looks the same to me, but I think I've misunderstood your question...

@Steph

Cool, thanks for the info. Weirdly, some kind of work and others don't. An example would be a ring of shockballs - if you line up your shot then switch to the inventory and wear the item,  then you can fire shock magic at a target. Bit of a pain to use but the spell effect does work. The Amulet of Shades doesn't behave this way though. I have failed to find out why the spell effect works when bound to a potion but doesn't when bound to an amulet :(

Both the 'the amulet of shades' and  'graveward amulet' requires at least a Journeyman level in Conjuration.  If your skill level in Conjuration is less than Journeyman it just doesn't work and you shouldn't be able to find it.

I set myself to Master level and tried both amulets.  Neither works, and both are invisible.

I also think that a summoning spell can't be set to 'Constant Effect' or maybe a nif is missing.

The nif is supposed to be in "../meshes/amulet/" but this folder is not on my pc. There are several other places where amulet nifs are stored, but none of those has the amulet we need here.

I guess I installed everything wrong again ..
