Umbrafox's W.I.P Workshop

So I have the fortune of working on the exquisite set to start with. Will update this thread as regularly as possible with my progressions and gather feedback as I go along :) Constructive comments will be gladly appreciated :) Not looking to make a direct copy of the robe, Just  going to re-envision versions to fit the current generation of engine but maintain that same style so you can easily familiarize :D

Morrowind Exquisite Robe set to start :

Current blockout mesh_0 :

Nothing too substantial yet, got the Male and Female Robe block outs set for ZBrush soon, not 100% sure whether the original design was meant to be pretty square or if it was technical limitations but i decided that fitting the shapes of Skyrims newer robes would be a better call with the key elements from the old robe such as the shoulder guards, 2 distinctive bands and heavy chest piece with centred pattern.

The collar I will make a decision on when it reaches engine could interfere with a lot and not liking it too much. Maybe some changes to shape however could fix it, and think the female robe needs slimming to fit their figure :) Will be creating some alphas of the patterns on the robes from what I can roughly make out from those pictures, think a bit of doodling in ZBrush will yield some good results and maybe inspire some others.

Thanks

Umbrafox

Look at the temple robes from

Look at the temple robes from the dragonborn dlc for more inspiration. They're the same robe besides color.

This is not a terrible

This is not a terrible picture to reference for what GendunDrup said; http://static1.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/35965-2-1368362884.jpg

There are definitely some elements of the Temple Priest robe from Dragonborn that can be used in the Exquisite Robe however the chestpiece and shoulderpads look closer to what the Telvani Robe has. You'll note that Neloth is essentially wearing the same thing that he was in Morrowind - which is the exquisite robe!

If he puts Ayem, Seht, and

If he puts Ayem, Seht, and Vehk and/or Almalexia's Hand (http://priestmorokei.deviantart.com/art/THE-TRIBUNAL-S-HAND-...) it would  actually be a symbol of the Tribunal.

The Temple robe is nearly

The Temple robe is nearly identical to the robe you're creating. You could probably retexture a lot of them, and probably never even guess that they were once a Skyrim robe.

Thanks for the advice guys

Thanks for the advice guys :) Will come to that when I get onto putting in the details.

Mehh im guessing you mean the shape/form that I've started with being identical to the temple robe? I could just do a retexture but id prefer more control over my mesh for when i swap between 3ds and Zbrush. However the benefits with the Temple robe already being skinned is probably a good point.

I will continue creating the mesh mainly because I want to change parts of the design without editing someone else's model and saying I worked on it feels a bit like a cop out on my end on a personal level but also the practice/experience l get from the process.

I will however use the design of the temple robe as my main influence unless there is some issue with me continuing the creation of the model itself. Im still pretty new here so not 100% sure on how the models go through the ranks and get approved and what not ;) Thanks for the input though :D

Looks promising. You should

Looks promising. You should make the high collar look more angular and less rounded.

Will this robe be compatible with the modular armor system? For instance, could you wear different pauldrons, gauntlets, etc. with this robe without noticeable clipping? I really think if Skywind does have modular armor sets, then robes should also be designed to accommodate for them. Considering this robe has multiple layers of cloth, it shouldn't be too hard to make it look compatible with various armor pieces from other sets.

Thanks Sechrima will be

Thanks Sechrima will be adjusting the high collar to make it more angular :) As for the modular armor system i'd have to speak to the others about that system being in place, if it is I will make sure that as little intersection with the various armor/clothing pieces happens.

I'm looking forward to these

I'm looking forward to these :) I have only one request: pointer shoulders like in the originals. Pointy pauldrons are a distinctively Chimer/Dunmer style. Though they might not work well in a modular armour system, clipping issues and all.
