Alright, I thought I'd try my voice at this one. Having watched the video and having read most of the posts, I think this is what you want, but let me know if it isn't. This is the first time I've worked with audio software, but I think I got it to sound right. There is at least one microphone artifact that I couldn't figure out how to remove. In a more serious situation (something that would actually go in the game), I would just record the line again, but I was lazy this time.
I'm not going for any specific character, so I just read the lines for Graring.
Hi! Here is a nord audition for myself, which I ended up taking a very Scottish approach to it, which I realize now isn't quite what you're looking for. I could try it a bit differently if you would like.
Took a shot at the sample male line. I have three takes of a more Scot influenced Nord voice (though with a little more Nord than Brynjolf's accent). I think this is how you wanted the accent done. Any corrections will be appreciated.
THIS IS A MASS REPLY TO NORDS. SORRY FOR IT TAKING SO FRICKIN LONG! MOTIVATION TO REPLY TO PEEPS IS HARD TO COME BY! THESE REPLIES WILL BE SHORT AND TO THE POINT.. NO SUGAR COATING HERE SO JUST TAKE IT! ALSO, I WILL JUST BE REPLYING FROM TO THE ONES THAT CAME AFTER THE RECRUITMENT VIDEO.
@Frenchifrench
Not terrible. Your Rs need work.. they get the L sound in them on occasion.. that is a big nono. if you can get your words out more naturally, then you would be well on your way.
@LMnog
quite simply too young sounding. There are very few young people in morrowind at all... and one of the Nord trademarks is sounding big and bulky. Try your luck elsewhere..
@Skyforge
The sound quality of your recordings is appalling. Too quiet, noise levels are too high and lotsa pops. If you can find a way to sort that out (this might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI ) Then we have to deal with your Rs.. it is hard to roll Rs if you don't natively do it and even if you do, it is hard to do it consistently in a language that doesn't cater for it. Some of your Rs become Ls (bad) and some others just don't sound natural.. you have your work cut out for you... your voice itself is nice though.
@Vilenesko
Not bad. Some Rs need to be more pronounced (kinda the reverse problem of overdoing it). .. apart from that it ain't bad.
@hazencruz
Slow down a little in the first clip... no need to rush.. speak clearly first and foremost. The second clip falls into russian a little too much... your grammar changes to russian and you miss out some words :P "Wouldn't give me more specific description" .. you are missing out the A .. wouldn't give me "A" more specific description.... without proper grammar, it becomes russian rather than nordic english (i realize the grammar is terrible anyway in some instances.. we are hopefully gonna change that)
Other than that, the sound quality needs improving. If you can make a small investment, a Samson Gomic will be what you will need (providing you have a quiet space to record in and use this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI )
Good luck!
@emperorofjustice
not bad. It sounds like you put emphasis on the wrong words though :P you sound like you are trying to be all jolly :P but instead you come across as a person who is trying to cough but can't quite get it. Manly>jolly. Other than that, take it easy.. slow it down a little just so you can get the words out clearer. Also, make sure you roll every R .. it needs to be defined, yet natural.
@speccius
Slow down dude. You miss out on rolling an R or two when going too fast... I appreciate the effort though. 2 things about the sound quality: 1. there is noise. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI (fix that)
2. You sound distant. record 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) away from your mic for optimal quality... if you start getting popping or other audio impurities.. you could try to work around it by speaking to the side of the mic rather than directly into it for example.. maybe also wrap it in a pair of tights :P
good luck!
@lankyman0909
Roll Rs more... but don't make the Rs into Ls (like you did with the one in "robbed" .. lobbed :P)
Rs need to be more pronounced.. you also need to sound a little more imposing.. not so calm. other than that (cause we already fixed your audio) it's fine!
@kanashiGD
Not bad. Just get Rs down (roll them, every time). We already started work on your sound so.. just get those Rs man!
@tripleV
I kinda like it.. you sound distant, there is noise.. Halberd does not have a silent "h".. some words need to be a little more pronounced (halberd being one of them.. it falls off at the end of the word) but other than all those things, it is good :P i like your voice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI that will help with editing. remember to record 6-8 inches from your mic.
@dman2life
I would say your sound quality is bad.. but calling it sound quality would be an insult to good recordings. Getting a new mic will be your first step.. regardless of how good your acting or voice is. and about that, you sound a little too aggressive .. take a step back and relax :P You need to roll every R.. and you need to not push your voice so far that it disappears.. only go as low as you can without trouble. Lots of work is needed here... good luck! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI ) - audio editing tutorial. Record 6-8 inches from your mic, then follow that.
@rooksDA
you are pushing your voice a little too much.. it doesn't sound natural. I like it in general though.. it ain't bad. Might have you on reserve.. as i have you on skype, we can take it further there.
@Mace
why resubmit it? you know i love your voice! people should use you as reference for being a bad ass.. You brought your own flavour and followed all the instructions at the same time.. A star voice actor!
@davespacelaser
Love your voice. the sound quality is a little off though.. not terrible but.. the sound is so.. full. hard to explain.. Also, cut out breaths :P but this is pretty good... Expect a PM!
@Khelric
PERFECT! or.. at least.. if this was skyrim it would be. It isn't though. This is Skywind. We roll Rs here and don't all sound like meatheads :P Roll Rs and it might work just fine!
hmm.. I am split on this one. Your voice isn't quite what we are looking for.. but i can tell you put in effort.. you roll your Rs well for the most part.. Sound quality will need some work though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI
Take that.
@janskuL
You are not a nord. Sorry. not sure you are a voice actor at all really. :/ NEXT!
@Violinja
Not bad. You need to learn to pronounce the words right. It is basically english, deep voice, rolling Rs.. no need to pronounce words that differently. Thrusting, not rrrrrusting. Still want that TH sound.
@ACEtrilby
Not bad. you are talking a little too fast.. take your time and get it out clearly and make sure you roll your Rs a little more.. but don't overdo it of course ;) it is pretty good though.
@Mazeek
Cheesus Price dude.. chill. You roll your Rs nicely.... good. You sound quality is pretty bad. It is distorted, distant sounding and noisy. Record closer.. if it is a digital condenser mic, drop the mic gain in audacity if you are going to shout. then follow this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI
@Vexxus
Just chill a little.. you sound like a person trying to advertise for hotwheels! you roll your Rs nicely.. make sure you keep that consistent. Also, lose the occasional cockney. Styles, not StAAYYles. There is a bunch of popping.. consider facing to the side of your microphone rather than directly into it... also consider investing in a pop filter.
Good luck!
@Elezraita
Beautiful! The sound will need work, yes... but if you can sort that you will be awesome!... PM me info of your recording equipment, recording space, etc.
@newt24
Link is broken.
@Bara420
Not bad.. but the acting is very wooden... monotone is 1 thing and wooden is another.. you need to work on bringing life to your performance. The accent itself isn't bad.. you miss and R or two but generally pretty good. try again!
good luck!
@wormarmy
Super quiet dude... that means you didn't follow my tutorial correctly (or at all). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaPkowFbfYI there you go.. that will help you :P I can't really comment on something so quiet.
Why for acknowledgement of course ! On a more serious note, the actual reason is I talked to Smite quite a while back, and we talked about re-posting the audition so that it didn't get lost in the old hub. ;)
EDIT: Sorry about posting here, forgot about the auditions only rule.
Hi! I am a big TES fan since Morrowind so as soon as I knew about Skywind I got a huge desire to contribute to it's creation. Here is my voice sample for Snorri:
I am sorry for posting the same link again but I really am not sure where to put my "auditions" ^_^' I did several sorts and so I thought I'd just post in each different topic they apply to?..Since I'm guessing different people are in charge of different auditions? Idk..if I have messed up and caused any problems I'm sorry and I'll fix it x.x
Anyway, the ones marked "Deeper" should apply well enough I think...particulary the ones marked "Barbarian" or "Blacksmith".
Hi Guys, been out of the game for a while but I'm back with some takes on the races. This take uses the Scottish accent as I'm not very good at Danish or Norwegian. Hope you like!
Here is my Nord: https://soundcloud.com/aetohatir/nord-audition
After the recording I noticed that my voice was a little too high and I spoke a bit too fast, but I couldnt really care anymore because I already put my microphone away again.
If you think it has potential, other than the fast speech and the little too high voice (I can go a bit deeper) I might record another, better version.
Here are my two auditions for a more Scottish sounding Nord. The first of which has perhaps a bit much emphasis put on the first "halberd", and I decided that in this take the character has rather a low opinion of cowardly marksmen.
The second audition is a bit more high pitched and faster-paced, though i understand that the lines might need to be said a bit more slowly.
I have no idea what parts that you wanted me to record. So I read up what you said in the description. Here is my contribution. Perhaps sounds like a weird mix between Icelandic and Gaelic. Note that my mic might be terrible.

I'm from Sweden, but from the south region, which means I have that Danish-influenced dialect rather than the typical "Stockholm" one. The R's are not natural for me, but hopefully they're not too shabby :)
I'm Swedish but unfortunately my microphone ain't the best. The female guards in Skyrim use the R wrong. They sound more Finnish than Nordic. Swedes and Norwegians's voices pitch up in the ending of a word. Pronounce F and T a bit more.
Hey, here are some auditions. Please tell me if you believe that my voice may be used for the Nord or perhaps is better suited for another race. If you have any critiques, they would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Nord audition. Attempted sample lines. Not 100% sure about the accent.

Take 1.
Take 2.
Take 3.
Also tried a couple a bit more like the standard Skyrim Nordic. Don't think this is exactly what you're looking for, but thought I might as well.

Take 2.
Crossing my fingers on the sound quality. Hope this is adequate.

I have no idea what parts that you wanted me to record. So I read up what you said in the description. Here is my contribution. Perhaps sounds like a weird mix between Icelandic and Gaelic. Note that my mic might be terrible.
Just in case you're still looking for more Nords, I decided to try one as well. Enjoy!
I wanted to contribute to this project, and since i'm german, i figured i'd try voice acting a nord ;D
So here's my try at the example lines you gave:
I do not have any experience with recording voices, acting or voice acting. But I do like the idea to help out with Skywind. So here my try to be useful.
On "Nord 2" I just read the lines in my ordinary dialect without trying to tone it down, as I usually do. I did not roll my Rs more then normal. I thought was that if I do. It would sound more like a parody than a dialect.
In "Nord 1" I tried to roll my Rs more then usual and speak with a deeper voice.

I'm Swedish but unfortunately my microphone ain't the best. The female guards in Skyrim use the R wrong. They sound more Finnish than Nordic. Swedes and Norwegians's voices pitch up in the ending of a word. Pronounce F and T a bit more.
