Below I have quoted the section of the download page titled "Stray Random Crashes". I am suspiscious that this is a sound issue. In Oblivion many many people complained about "stuttering" in the frame rate. This issues was finally addressed very succesfully with the "Quiet Feet" mod. It seems that the oblivion engine was choking on that particular looped sound. Now I was playing MorrOblivion today and had found a place in the wilderness, (returning with the bone biter bow in Sul-Matul's quest), where I got that "random crash". It was completely repeatable. Every time I reloaded the game and tried to get back to camp it would crash at the same point. I have also noticed this on others of these crashes, that reloading and simply trying again does not make them go away. Anyway, when I was CTD I got the usual WIN7 error about the application closing. I aknowledged that error and my speakers gave me a very nice POP, as though some residual bit of memory containing a sound file had let loose. Given Oblivion's problems with sound in the past, that this might be a sound issue may be worth looking at.

If you experience seemingly random crashes (usually in the wilderness) then this is because
of Cell Buffer Overrun, NOT something inherently wrong with cell XYZ.
Oblivion was simply not designed to encompass Morrowind and all it's denizens.
However, by doing three things, I have all but eliminated these crashes.
By doing these three things, I have gotten Oblivion back to it's normal level of "stability."
1. Purge Cell Buffers Mod: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9139
>>> Set to Purge with Every Cell, NOT just Loading.
2. Disable "View Distant Land" under Options.
3. Walk, don't run.
I can crash the game at will by running, and it does not take very long. I personally believe
that these crashes are because of the enormous number of creatures in the large Morrowind
Worldspace that taxes the Oblivion Game engine to the breaking point.
I do Not believe it is because of trees or poorly optimized meshes, as some others have suggested.
But, by doing these three things, I have gone from crashing every few minutes, to as I indicated,
Oblivion's normal level of "stability."
