I got banned from tes nexus

Submitted by Ice on

Hey guys. I just went to tes nexus and found out I've been banned. =/

Here's a link to the tes nexus site rules regarding bans, which I found while researching my ban. ;)

Well, I guess I'll make a new account just for downloads.

I'll move any mods that were there (that pertain to Morroblivion) to media fire and list them in the Morroblivion Mods files thread.

Whelp, that's a bummer, but what did I expect, working on a site that was banned? I guess it's fair, though I wish morroblivion wasn't banned. Oh well, Morroblivion is still the best mod project out there. :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT10-16-2011: IT TURNS OUT I WAS NOT BANNED FOR MORROBLIVION MODS. I WAS BANNED FOR UPLOADING A MOD THAT I DIDN'T REALIZE CONTAINED MESHES THAT HAD BEEN RIPPED FROM ANOTHER GAME. I HAVE NOW BEEN UNBANNED

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Thinking about this ban has made me appreciate you guys all the more. I love that even though Mororblivion's been banned its still protected with an installer. I love that this site works to maintain integerity.

Now that I'm banned, I have a model to follow. I have your guys' model to follow. Thanks for giving me that model. :D

Slof forbids her clothing from being used on females because she specifically spent a huge amount of time and effort creating MALE clothing and does NOT want to see that effort used for something other than what she intended. When she first posted her clothing on the Nexus people without scruples ripped off her ideas and used her clothing and textures without permission nor acknowledgement of her as the creator. She fought a large battle with the Nexus to have the people banned and their work removed from the nexus and in protest of the modders who did this she pulled her stuff off the nexus and moved it to her own site. As for hot clothing in the game Slof's clothing is NOT a good example of NON hot clothing as her's shows the male anatomy just as much as any clothing set for females shows the female anatomy, probably even more as most of her outfits show the male member in all it's glory. I know as I have all of slof's male clothing as well as slof and Kikia's collaborative works. I also recieved slof's permission to use one of her outfits (slightly modified) for my lifelike statues mod. Most people who use the "hot" clothing have played thru the game using vanilla clothing replacers and very conservative attire, I know I have, but after a while you find you want to change things up to keep the game new and fresh and one of the easiest ways to do that is to change out the clothing and armor sets, and in doing so adding some eye candy is a nice change from the drab and dreary modest clothing used in the vanilla game. If you get right down to it most of the clothing in the vanilla game is unrealistic and isn't true nor specific to any period clothing you can point to. The nobles clothing is plain and although fancy in it's texture it's rather mundane in it's presentation and that's why people such as myself cut them up to make them look different. If you look at the vanilla clothing for the lower class and upper class in oblivion you'll see they look the same only with different textures to make the lower class clothing look more shody. That has always been a laugh in my book. It's also been one of the reasons I started modding clothing. The clothing set I did for morroblivion is NOT the clothing set I use in game. It is simply an adaptation of the transfered clothing to fix the blocky ugly appearance of the transfered clothing. The version of those I use in game, while still the same clothes, are hugely modified from the set that I released so they suit MY preference. And that's what it all boils down to PERSONAL PREFERENCE. If you want clothing to suit your preference and you can't find a modder that makes clothing you like then I suggest you learn to mod clothing on your own and make clothing that you like adapted to the body you like as that's the only way you'll be able to find exactly what you want. It's how and why I learned to mod clothing.

Old Wolf, I think you really hit the nail on the head when you said "And that's what it all boils down to PERSONAL PREFERENCE.", along with the end of your paragraph there. That's, I think, my favorite part of oblivion. Its MY game. My copy of oblivion is completly unique, and when I can't find something that fits my taste, I can make it. It spurns me forth to learn. It lets me 'experiance' whatever I can think of.

I unkowingly played with a mod that had the 'full glory of the male'. I was starteled upon seeing something I wasn't expecting (or looking for!). lol. So I turned it off, problem solved. :p Oblivion is cool that way, you can form it to your tastes.

Steph: I don't mind your posts! I'd also say that these people have already helped me, through encouragment and through submiting a ban appeal to the nexus. Who cares if it doesn't work, its the fact that people are standing up for me. It gives a man the sense of community. That being said, I'm definitly not angry at you Steph!

ps. Aww man, its back to homework time =/

Hey all, good news for myself today! I thought I'd share it with you all:

I wasn't banned on account of morroblivion files! A friend emailed a mod and got this answer back:

"It was the Halo spartan armour addon.

The original mod, and any mod that is dependant on it ( as was Iceburg's) is not allowed on this site due to the original filess ripped content (copyright violation) and in any case of those files being found the file and the uploader is removed as is procedure. You can't have an addon to that mod without including some of the problematic content though I'm afraid...

We have an 'unban appeal' system, which he may use. It is located here:

http://www.tesnexus....mbers/unban.php"

I had no idea that the origional file had ripped content! I'm appealing it now.  We'll see how it goes! :D

And to think I was banned for my literaly smallest and least time consuming mod, lol.

For anyone that's interested, here's what I appealed to Nexus

"Hello,

I was recently banned and after some searching around and a couple of friends appealing on my behalf I got a very helpful answer as to why I was banned. I was banned because my Halo Spartan Armor Addon mod used files that were "ripped content (copyright violation)". When I uploaded these files I believed that they were original meshes. I couldn't figure out why the original mod had been taken down, and thought I was doing the right thing to re-upload the resource files. The Halo Spartan Armor Addon mod had been taken down once before, and I thought it was because I hadn't gotten express permission to use the original resources. I re-uploaded it thinking I was in the clear because I had gotten the author's permission; I had no idea it had really been taken down because I was uploading inappropriate content. The original author had listed a team that I had thought were artists. I was impressed with how close the work was to actual halo armor, but I had no idea that they were ripped.

I thought I was banned because I was uploading mods that were made for Morroblivion, but I couldn't understand this as there are many mods that do the same. I am glad to hear what I was banned for. It was never my intention to upload ripped content, and in the future I will try to investigate more deeply the files I use in my mods.

I believe I had three mods that required Morroblivion (and I've seen many others on tes nexus that do the same) and 6 mods that were related to other things. For example a spell sorter for midas magic or a menu replacer that replaces the map loop with the Skyrim trailer.

I know that Morroblivion is a delicate situation, and I want to honor Tes Nexus regarding it. As I now understand it, it's okay to make mods for Morroblivion, so long as they don't include Morroblivion resources, and I should avoid links to the Morroblivion site (Though I should still list it in the required list?), and I should avoid pictures of Morroblivion.

I am sincerely interested in honoring the rules of Tes Nexus. I think it’s a great site, and will remain of this thought regardless of whether I am unbanned or not. I apologize for breaking the rules; it was not my intention. (In fact I think this is the first time I've ever been banned from anything). I've read through the strikes and bans forums and if given a second chance I will make every effort to adhere to the rules.

Thank you for your consideration,

Iceburg333"

Sorry if it seems like I abandoned you. I never got a reply from any mod :(

Vivec, I thought just the opposite of you. You stuck by me when I was banned and you sent my stuff to the mods! I really appreciate what you've done for me. Just because the mods replied to someone else doesn't mean that I'm not every bit as thankful to you as to the other person. So thank you Vivec!

Now celebrate with me!

"iceburg,

The Vampire Dante has sent you a new personal conversation entitled "Account re-opened.".

The Vampire Dante said:

After reading your unban request, it is obvious that this was a genuine error.

Therefore the ban on your account is now lifted.

All I can say is, be more careful about what mods and projects you decide to get involved with in future ok? Welcome back."

Yay!!!!!!

Thank you everyone for the support! If this were a 'bug' I'd mark it closed. ;)

I will be moving my mods back onto Tes nexus when I get the time...
