In this thread i will post my attemp to fix all the beds, hammocks and bedrolls in Morroblivion, so that the player and the NPCs do not act weirdly when lying down or standing up from them.
Actually the beds, hammocks and bedrolls meshes aren't suitable for npc to lie on them because originally in Morrowind, although they were interactive role-playing elements for the player to click on them and sleep, no NPC actually could be seen sleeping on them.
My goal is to edit those meshes to make them compatible with NPC animation when they go to sleep, adjust furniture markers , and finally reposition all the references so that they can work well with the environment.
It's essential that i can test NPCs lying on beds to verify they're fixed correctly, but i couldn't adapt "See you sleep" mod to Morroblivion beds, so i had to find another solution... Then i hired a long haired Breton with a VERY sleepy AI package attached, who tests those beds for me through many bedrooms all over vvardenfell and in a special bedtestroom, where very sleepy things happens...
Even though in early WIP stages, i'm posting time by time an ESP so that everyone can test the difference.

haha :D
This made me chuckle.
Good work Popo!
I just attached the first ESP-to-try in the first post. It just fixes 0activeUcomUbedU01's mesh and references (only two, one in PelagiadVSFortSPelagiad and the second in VivecVSAgrippinaSHerenniaXSClothier)
EDIT
I'm continuing my work on beds but progress is actually quite slow because i need to gain confidence with these new kind of meshes.
I however edited also 0activeUcomUbedU02's mesh through a more complicated way than 0activeUcomUbedU01; this last one infact had a cushion incorporated into its mesh and i had only to adapt its height to the NPC's head when lying on bed;
0activeUcomUbedU02 hasn't any cushion into his mesh, but each of the references of this bed has got a cushion as a separate object on it, and this causes two problems:
the first is that those cushions has got havok properties and when an NPC lies down they are thrown meters away;
the second is that, given that i deprive them of theirs havok properties, i should have to place every cushion on every damn bed in a way that works well with lying animation.
I came to the conclusion that the best solution is to merge those cushion into the bed's mesh directly, so that i can adjust them once instead doing it for every reference and if they are used anywhere else in the game world they can preserve their havok properties (and i can preserve my mental sanity).
Soon a new ESP.
Bye!
Waaaaaat.... you are amazing! Thank you thank you thank you! :)
great work dude :) this is sorely needed !
Haha, funny stuff Popo. But seriously, thank you for you hard work!
You know a project's good when you have Project Leads and Web Wizards excited.
:D
Ah ah; but also other contributors feedback give me further motivation to keep up the work...
Okay, soon i will edit properly the first post to show step by step the progress of this mod. What's i've done until now is to edit the meshes of 0activeUcomUbedU01, 0activeUcomUbedU02, 0activeUcomUbedU03 and 0activeUcomUbedU04 testing ingame if they work well with furniture markers and so on;
I've "oblivionized" these beds squeezing and shortening them a bit taking inspiration from Oblivion beds' measures and, obviously, lowering them (but keeping them proportional) to adapt them to furniture markers.
I'll continue to edit meshes (and show some images soon), and i'll attach a new ESP when i'll fix further references...
Bye!
Hello!
I'm not vanished; i'm working hard on those meshes during my short computer sessions, and i can tell that results are quite positive. In particular i'm reworking mattresses, because original are too much blocky and resemble more a marble slab than a soft sleepy surface. I'm almost finished with beds, but i'm afraid there will be problems with hammocks, and will be very difficult to adapt their shape to be used as a working furniture... we'll see!
Bye!
Great! work popo!,and hey,who wants to sleep in a hammock when one of your cozy beds are there.
Be cool if you can do hammocks though.:)
Hello everyone !
Okay, i'm not fast as lightspeed but i'm actually playing with some 3dsmax functions to get the best results.
Here are some images i took of brand new ActiveUDeUBedU01.nif and ActiveUDeUBedU03.nif, reworked to match oblivion beds' misures (needed to make NPC sleeping in approximately in the center of the bed and not in a corner), height (needed to make NPC lie down on bed correctly), corrected furnitures markers and added cushions directly into the mesh, so that they stay on place on beds but everywhere else they can be used with their usual havok properties, and smoothed the mattresses, because in their original form they were too much blocky and resembled to marble (they seem quite softer now!)
Those were not simple tasks for me and so i didn't have the time to put them in the game world cells yet !
Bye!
These look great! Much much improved from the origionals!
Hello !
It looks like that making new mattresses i exaggerated a bit with the polygons; so much that in-game it becomes quite U-N-P-L-A-Y-A-B-L-E. What a pity ! i was so happy with the results ! Redoing them in a simpler way, sigh...
Bye!
Hello everyone! I'm still alive (could be better than now, though).
I'm REALLY working hard recently, so i had no time to spend on this mod. Its status is actually FROZEN until i find more time to spend on it. Beds are working quite well, but i have to spend some more time on bedrolls and, ahiahiahi, try to rework those hammocks and finally adjust all the references (not many, considering the previous work on chairs...). Had to revert back to a less-poly version... i really exaggerated...
Bye!
i know it is an Old Link ,just a Good place to Put this,,
In Game there were 127 Pillows 01160186 on Hammocks there are Now 276 Hammocks with Pilows,Corrected Hammock Positions so NPC can Get on Hammocks and get Off without having to Go through any Walls or Over Chests, Alot of the NPC do not Have AI to Put them Selves in Bed at the Moment,the Hammocks are in Position for when they Have.
Did at Least Re_Positioning as Possible to Room Structure, If you Run this File Shift Up to .esm ,if anyone finds any I have Missed Could you Post the Location so they can Be Fixed
Is this mod needed, or already integrated in the main mod v060?
It's very old and discontinued. Also, all the beds in Morroblivion work fine without it, so I don't know what you might need this for.
