[WIP] Wells in Morroblivion for Realism Mods Such as Primary Needs

Submitted by Ice on

This is a thread dealing with the issue started in Morrowind Spellswap.

"Say, I had made a request the other day in trying to make all the "well" references in Morroblivion point to the COBL well - see post here"

A lot of the posts in Morrowind Spellswap pertain to this issue. It would be sweet if we could move them to this thread.

I'll just start posting on this thread, knowing that anything referenced 'above' is from the Morrowind Spellswap thread. :D

I would like to be able to use a thirst mod and this mod is necessary for that to work (I think). So which ever way is more comfortable for you is the way you should go.

Thanks for your hard work!

Thanks for the support and kind comments guys. :)

Okay, I am going to just put rain barrels in the houses and worry about the cosmetic "explanation" later. That way we can get a functional release out.

I'm going to concentrate on my original real thirst version first and then handle compatibility for BPN, noting possible issues along the way.

One of my planned features is very simple with real thirst but looks to be a challenge using BPN: having water that you have to buy from merchants in areas where there is no public "free" water.

Real thirst features buyable water "potions" that run the same 'drink water' script as that run by drinking from the water skin or directly from the well in game. Since BPN doesn't seem to feature any sort of pre-filled container that I could place in a merchant's inventory, I'm going to have to figure something else out or maybe make a feature request of the BPN author for a pre-filled water container. I'm thinking one that is expended when used would be best so that the player doesn't end up with 50 empty water containers in inventory (or more likely littering the street outside of the merchant shop where he bought the water :D)

Next would be making the cobl water barrels usable by BPN. I'd like for them to have a similar function to real thirst's by allowing only a limited number of refills from a water barrel before it is considered empty. The barrel refills after a certain amount of time has passed- preferably by script instead of relying on the cell to reset so that those using long cell reset times in their settings won't have issues with every barrel in the game not being refilled after two weeks of game time.

My wife is overseas and I've been losing a lot of sleep, so development is expected to be slow for a while. I'll try and get the waterbarrels in Balmora and the water bottles placed with merchants throughout and then release.

If you're concerned about BPN, I would denfinitely post a question/ideas in the BPN thread and see how they were planning to support this situation.

Slow is better than none. Hang in there!

Just wanted to update:

I'm still struggling along with some new real-life developments, but have managed to get some time to work on things.

All wells work and water can be had in Vivec, as previously mentioned.

I am now in the process of adding bottled water (from the real thirst mod) to all general store vendors. As soon as that is done, I will release it as a "real thirst" version 1.

I have yet to try BPN or contact its author. Time allowing, I will do so, request a "water potion" type bottle be made, add it to vendors, and call it "BPN" version 1.

Hope things work out in the real world for you Aries. I've been thinking about doing some more work on the bloodmoon creatures myself, but have been super busy.

Good to hear things are still coming along!

Good luck my friend!

Guys, I'm really sorry about going this long without finishing this project. Real life has kept me slammed non-stop since late last year.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm still aware of this project and that it is on my to do list.

I'm currently involved in a time-sensitive project and should have a little extra time to restart work on this then.

I think I may finish things up for real thirst and allow someone else to make the necessarry changes to make a second version for use with BPN.

I'll be back here in the near future, hopefully with completion of this project.

Again, sorry for the long delay!
