On topic of grass mods for Morroblivion

Submitted by qwertyasdfgh on

Essentially a grass mod consisits of 3 parts:
1) the base grass records (GRAS)
2) modified landscape texture records (LTEX) to add grass to them
3) modified landscape texturing on terrain (LAND)
(the last part is probably the longest to do, also refered as 'grass trimming')

Existing grass mods contain all 3 parts within themselves, which lead us to increasing the size of a mod and various compatibility problems (all that because of the 3rd part)

What I'm proposing is to merge 1 and 3 into master (Morrowind_ob.esm) which will lead to several advantages:
- the grass mod will be lightweight and simple, only touching LTEX records to 'activate' added grass (low possibility of conflicts)
- it will also be mergeable into Bashed Patch, saving an esp slot for those of us with heavily modded games
- several people can do landscape texturing of different areas independently

Yeah, there's too much grass in Fort Frostmoth and it does need a bit of trimming :)

Sounds good to me.  Where does Eloth's landscape and grass mod fall into this?

Eloth's mod is, as far as I know, the only currently aviable grass mod for Morroblivion.
However, one thing that bothered me from the beginning is that it uses default Oblivion grass, which doesn't really fit very well IMO.

That's why I started developing my own grass mod with blackjack and hookers unique grass for all Morrowind regions. As for now Bitter Coast and Ascadian Isles are almost done.

That's another reason I've started this topic - landscape texturing is universal for any grass mod, it's the LTEX part that differs.

I'll get to it eventually, if someone else won't.

IMHO the grass from Oblivion approaches as well as possible, distinctly it is visible in corrected to a fashion from THERMADOR but if you will be possible manage more beautiful entered grass in Morroblivion that I there will be only for introduction of your grass in the master a file.

Yeah I fully support a new grass mod for Morroblivion.  The current grass from Eloth's is good, but a new one, merged into the master, would be much better.

I agree. The current grass is an important part of the whole. It's visually stunning and adds a lot. But I already noticed that the color seemed "too normal"... too bright. I like what Im seeing in these screenshots.

These look amazing, *w* Eloth's grass mod was really nice but it didn't feel like the nature of Morrowind with Cyrodiils Grass and such, and these feel like the legit environment Morrowind had. Thank you for making this!!~

The only reason that I did not merge Eloth's grass mod, is because it required his visual overhaul, otherwise I certainly would have. These days there is so much required, that a few more textures would not be overbearing. Yes, definitely, a grass mod should be part of the Master.
