metaljoemac Good, very good :) I don't handle anything to do with VA, but I'd say you can jump straight into doing any of the dunmer male roles as long as its free.
Question for the team, is there a packaged download for the voices done so far? Would be good so that people can get an idea of tone, quality, sound levels, etc for their own recordings.
And how far along are we with actually getting voices to in game dialogue and quests?
They aren't packaged all in one place yet, but most of them are scattered in downloads throughout the thread, and there are a few npcs fully voiced and in game in the current release, I've also just added a few more npcs but I don't think thier quests are complete yet, I'm going to see if I'm able to get some misc dunmer stuff in aswell later tonight and throughout the week, I have to wait on getting a lot of the voices in game though, till digital is done reorganizing everything then I can add them ALL Muahahahah! (I think he's a little over half done)
edit: ack! i give up for now, wheres digital when you need him lol, trying to add the custom voicetypes to the list the generic stuff chooses from is stumping me.
You know you've worked too long on something when you dream of three dunmers, one with my voice, one with teebs voice and one with metaljoemacs voice...
Also I'm nearly done cutting/naming/sorting Tunifus' files but I had to re-record most of the last 8 minutes of dialogue because he sounded kind of depressed in it. Teaches me not to record in the morning/evening.
Edit: I just voiced another imperial called Gualtierus Spurius.
I just performed the super short role of Rabani and attach, what do you guys think?
Holy...wow. Sounds great to me.
I just joined in on this project today after having been watching some Skyrim mod videos and Skywind was featured and my interest was piqued. I'd like to help out in any way I can, so when I read about the voice-acting I got kind of excited until I recorded myself and...I sound like a squeaky young girl. I guess I'll go through the characters needing voices and hope I fit the bill for one. XD
EDIT: Also, would there be a need for an either really creepy sounding kobold or goblin type voice, complete with a creepy laugh. Or perhaps a soft spoken Germanic male voice? I could possibly drag my husband into this project too. ;)
The more voices the better! Just upload some samples and if your voice can match anything and is of decent quality we will get you or whoever plugged in and working!
Okay! I'll do some recordings of the generic stuff I just downloaded (the one that has the voice only) so maybe you guys can figure out how to use me if possible. I'm just waiting on my husband to get up and go to work before I start yelling at my computer or cursing like a sailor when I think I sounded silly saying a line. :P
Okay...so I had maybe a little too much fun with this. First off...I've never done something like this before. The closest thing I've done to recorded audio is talking on a voice chat while gaming in MMOs. I looked up a bunch of tutorials trying to get my audio better...and also tried rigging my own pop cap. I didn't have panty-hose...I *did* have a mesh thong which is looking really weird rubberbanded to my stand-up mic. XD The really unfortunate part is I have a lot of humming going on between the fact that my computer is located between the kitchen & living room and I have a normal fridge and a mini fridge plus my loud computer. I tried to cut it as much as possible, but I think its still there.
Niyogi your voice is perfect for many parts :) You'll probably need to get your audio set up better, the hum was quite noticeable. Eloth or StijMunkey will contact you about potential mic setups.

Thank you! I'm really not sure how to change my setup. My computer is where I'd like it to be for convenience and space purposes so I'm not sure how to fix the issue aside from buying a better microphone (which I'm not sure if that will fix a buzzing/hum issue). Suggestions are welcome!

Better mic always helps but you can try a few other tricks like hanging up blankets all over the place to block noise and kill echo, also cinjaxons video tutorial in the first post shows how you can do noise removal while still having it sound natural, try that and put up a couple more samples :)
My husband gave me the idea to maybe take our tablet computer and plug my mic into in in the bedroom where it is really quiet and actually there are blankets everywhere. I'll take a look at that tutorial and try again later.
Okay, I re-watched the video. The clips I had already posted had the noise removal already done to them. Yea, the hum was worse. I didn't do the fade in or fade out, but I'll try that in the future. As was as checking the settings on the mp3 converter. I didn't do that before.
EDIT: I did a little microphone shopping. This is the most affordable studio quality one I could find, what do you guys think? Know anything of this one? Behringer C-1U USB Microphone. I found it so far for about 49€ so I think its doable in the next month or so.
OK Ya quieter room would definitely help, te be honest I didn't even hear the hum lol, but that's because I just listened to them on my phone, aside from the different room idea (which should work brilliantly) the only other thing to try would be a better mic or a condenser or both, but I have a feeling a quiet room mixed with noise removal should do the trick!
I tried with my tablet in the bedroom and actually the quality came out terrible. I was unable to plug my current microphone into the tablet in anyway, so tried the built in microphone. Yuck. Also, I edited my post before this one and I'm looking to purchase in the next month or so a Behringer C-1U USB mic as it is the cheapest seemingly good quality studio mic I've found. I've so far found it for 49€. Do you guys think this would be a good one? Or should I keep shopping around?
Alrighty! I'll see if we can swing it this month or not when my husband gets home. Its his birthday tomorrow and we bought him a new 27" HD screen for his computer, so we got kind of slammed financially this month. :p
Don't stop 'til you get enough. *sings* lol. Actually...you don't want me to sing...ever. Anywho, that female thing was actually sounding pretty cool, imho.
It can also just be because you're using onboard audio, which often isn't adequately grounded. Get a proper sound card or one of those external solutions (digital sound processors, etc.), and you'll have much less or even zero hum.
Lol a little more info would be needed for that! I don't even know what gender you are lol, you don't need a real line we just need to hear your voice, say anything, read a line from a book or magazine or something so we know what you sound like reading a script
Or just pick a character that's not taken, record a couple of lines and put it on Soundcloud, link it here. No-one can decide a character for you, it's just a matter of doing one that your voice fits.
Ha! He totally does, voice sound is good, sorta sounds a little forced, try making it more natural like you always talk, or really overacting that works too, also quality check? Still on phone speakers here!
Long time no check in. Got back into this after a long burn out period, found that I had a few more character voices recorded from the last time, just need to do the processing. Got Dilborn (though I have some confusion about this one: the last few lines listed for him seem to be talking about him, so I'm guessing it's a mix up), Joncis Dalomax, Merthierry Laelippe, Orrent Geontene, Simine Fralinie all edited but needing all the other stuff done, and Detritus Caria and Socucius Ergalla needing edited. I think I'll just keep going through the rest of the male bretons.

How do I audition to do the misc. lines for a race? I might like to do Imperial misc. lines.

Well, that mic certainly isn't something we can afford this month. Possibly next month, so I guess I'll see you guys then. ^^
Today has been a productive day, I voiced the wood elf Bolrin and another imperial called Constans Atrius.
I'm on a maddening voicing spree here, stop me before I begin voicing women too...
Well that's too late lol, already tested azura.
https://soundcloud.com/cor-angars/azura-not-serious
Haha awesome! Lol I can't believe you were able to do Azura. But it does sound kinda like a transvestite lol....
Don't stop 'til you get enough. *sings* lol. Actually...you don't want me to sing...ever. Anywho, that female thing was actually sounding pretty cool, imho.
Hum can be caused by computer not being properly grounded.
It can also just be because you're using onboard audio, which often isn't adequately grounded. Get a proper sound card or one of those external solutions (digital sound processors, etc.), and you'll have much less or even zero hum.
I would love to try out for voice acting, just give me a random character or line from one and I'll do some samples!
Or just pick a character that's not taken, record a couple of lines and put it on Soundcloud, link it here. No-one can decide a character for you, it's just a matter of doing one that your voice fits.
@metaljoemack:
you are assigned to Zabamund, did you finish recording his lines?
For me you can do Han-Ammu if you wish:)
lol i just updated op assigning him your too late eloth!
So I downloaded the spreadsheet from the first page. Is this still up to date?
Edit: Noticed that the status of completed voice acting was on the same page *face-palm*
*** Oh yeah, well Cor is so boss, he can even voice female daedra and make them sound good....
Geesh, the talent you people have.
:D
I'm a wee bit confused. On the first page of the thread, Cor Angers said he has voiced Han-Ammu already. Is this correct or is the role free?
There is a long story behind that, but in a nutshell the role is free yes.
Edit: And another one bites the dust, voiced the drunk nord Holmar.
Nice one. Will continue with the lines then.
Here's my audition for Codus Callonus.
Is it me or does Viremaster sound like a certain Sir Patrick Stewart AKA Emperor Uriel Septim VII?
