Will work on this when I get back
2 days spent on bridge.
not started texturing yet.
need to reduce poly count by 60%
Yet to create the high poly pipes.
Can reuse much of this, or the zbrush file, to create dwemer meshes, for later.
Eloth and I will combine our efforts on these areas, with the help of other texture artists.
The bridge is reserved 1 LOD atlas cell.

[WIP/RELz] Dwemer Exteriors and Textures. v2
Edited by: grumpycat on 12/08/2014 - 18:24

This is so beautiful! I found the Skyrim's Dwemer to be not enough Steampunky, and I thought the stone-built architecture was to blame. Yet you've pulled off a stone bridge that looks so industrial! I absolutely love it. I also think that some lamp - posts along it might look really cool ;) Of course most of them wouldn't work though, but I think Dwemer would light up their bridges in some cool way.
looks very nice hope u arnt overdoing it because now that bridge needs a lot of matching dwemer stuff to really fit whit every thing els and wont it nowe be to different of the interior ?

i don't think it's that much of an issue. Especially if they're planning on redoing a few more parts of the ruins (are you guys?). Even if they don't I think it'll fit just fine. Other than adding a few details, and adding in more stonework they haven't changed the base design all that much. Its quite fantastic if you ask me.
How about really big, evenly chiseled stone bricks that fit each other perfectly, reinforced with flat metal beams bolted to them?
Right shut yer pieholes, I'm done.
I can alter a few textures a little bit.
PIC 1:
shows the scale and shape of the overall bridge and from underneath.
Current textures
Lower bridge: 4096x4096 x diffuse/normal/spec
Upper bridge: 4096x4096 x diffuse/normal/spec
PIC 2:
shows the bridge pipes as seen from a distance until LOD1 takes over.
The 2nd layer shows high poly pipes that fade in/out at closer distance (non LOD)
Hi detail pipes: 2048x2048 x diffuse/norm/spec
floor: 1024x1024 x diffuse/norm/spec
PIC 3:
High detail. Floor texture redone.
Rust overlay meshes, variety.\
PIC 4: textures used.
PIC4:
Looks magnificent!
that wasn't overly helpful.... ;)
Pieholes officially shut.
Wow the difference between entire portions of the model having a UV textures rather than individual meshes having "material" textures is unbelievable.
Only 3200 to go! Kidding 3199.
Wonderful, just wonderful. I'm really looking forward to walk along all those magnificent landscapes and buildings (just looking around through an hopefully high-res Oculus Rift) ...
holy balls its helpful person! havent seen him in forever. . . . so many people want your vivec race dude check your thread! Also great job on the bridge looking forward to more dwemer stuff
i like it dont alter textures or ill kill you

lol (I think...)
i'm being quite literal in this situation.
Well the maximum sentence for a death threat is 10 years. 3650 potential times you drop the soap.
Given that Alex is in the U.S and Ravanna lives in Europe I highly doubt they would be able to do anything.
It looks amazing! I was just wondering, though, but do you plan on including the wormgod text found on the pipes in the original Morrowind? They probably wouldn't need to be on every single pipe for varieties sake, but it's just something to consider. Maybe some other Dwemer text easter egg could be thrown in too.
so its wormgod? I couldnt find complete fonts like the wormgod or morrowind dwemer
so Ive had to use skyrim dwemer fonts.
Hope thats ok :/
Bloody exhausting to do this, hope its worth it

But wicked awesome

I think you misunderstood that, the letters in the picture he posted are dwemer and translates as "wormgod" (the username of one of the devs. in bethesda) it's not a different language/font or something like that.I red some myself so quote "The strange writing on the Dwemer pipes in their ruins is actually just 'Wormgod' written over and over again in a form of Dwemer script known as Wormgod script."
So it's basically a gibberish easter egg, nothing important.
I know, you could replace it to say "ravanna" over and over again in stead of wormgod lol.
Or write "Fargoth is a person too" over and over again.
I vote for "Ravanna stayed up till 5am to do this, but boy was it worth it in the end"

Let's not go too crazy :)
We can put a lot of easter eggs in Daedric inscriptions too :D
Like in this loincloth.
ingame pic of bridge, and a 3dsmax grab of the statue.
Statue took far too long really. Gotta make different versions of it, not sure if it needs LOD.
Wow....Thats pretty
OMG you're just amazing.
By Hera's tits that looks good.
If Zeus was to switch planes of existence to Nirn and fashion something for himself this might be it! I think we can scale him up a bit in game, make it even more grandeur.
We can actually use the original model for lod except that we need to give it a round shield.
As you can see morrowind models are decidedly looking like they are only good for lod :-P
if i were a dwemer i would make a pilgrimage just to see that statue

fully vertex coloured, 5k.
probably doesnt LOD, if it does, only LOD1 using happys method.
yes, it mechanically works. Hopefully its not too far from our idea of the dwemer in their final days.
aaand some extra shots of statue
if the dwemer ever had a well that would be it. lol awesome job.
were there dwemer wells in morrowind? been a while sense i played it and i can't remember. even if they arent im all for this going in. it looks awesome.
That well looks very well, but I have a slight logical conflict in my mind now... The masters of steam power would most likely be able to simply pump water out of the deep ground sources below :P
But fear not! Nothing will go to waste. The crane part can easily serve as a... Crane! I can pictre Dwemer lifting stuff up and putting it down between levels, actually I was surprised to NOT see any cranes. Could be a part of some interesting puzzle!
About the well - if they wanted a public well it would probably be a stone/concrete structure sticking out of the ground with taps, and drain grates below them. Even Romans had this sort of public fountains.

looks super cant wait to see what u gone do next
k i'm about 20% into dwemer stuff now.
Next few days probably spent on broken walls and metal structures.
Its insane how much better this looks :o... it brings a tear to my eye :')
holy mother of...
That just looks spectacular! Are you going to re-texture the Dwemer towers as well?
Everything is to be remodeled and re textured in this external scene file.
Internal meshes wont change much, but eloth is working me on the new textures too, and much of these external items work for insides too
Wow that's awesome, I can't wait!
Well is awesome. I wanna see it everywhere.
