Imperial Legion Questline

Submitted by SBB64 on

I have the Imperial Legion quests finished. Now I just need to debug everything. I hope to have this available to you all by this coming weekend. A few issues though:

Giant Netch - this quest requires 2 netch to appear outside the town of Gnaar Mok. Each has a special ID but looking through the list of current actors, I can't find them. I just see 3 creatures now; Betty, Bull, Giant. None match what I need (they aren't unique). Should I just duplicate what is already there or is somebody currently working on making these creatures anyway?

Followers - this series of quests seems to have a very large number of quests which require actors to follow you (normally as part of their rescue). I am trying to use the same script code as used in the MG escorting quests but I get compile errors. For someone to follow you, I use this script:

(fbmwFollowerControlQuest as fbmwDialogueFollowerScript).SetFollower(akspeaker)

There is also another line but it doesn't matter, the code won't compile. Not sure what the trick is, since I did a copy/paste from a working script.

As mentioned, I should have this ready for everyone to look at in a few days.

Forgot about this one:

Joncis Dalomax - another knight that you need to rescue. In his case, I can't find any dialogs for him. I've looked through the CK for TES3 and I don't see anything for him about rescuing either. I don't remember this being a broken quest in TES3. Any ideas?

Very cool SBB64. With all the Imperial Cult, Imperial Legion and Morag Tong quests, we will have tons of new quests ;)

You sure it's not somewhere in there? Sometime the names are misleading. I know there was a specific unique netch for the fork of horripilation daedric quest.

Yes it is the script I created.

akSpeaker is a hidden property in a dialogue topic fragment that points to the NPC speaking (duh). Where do you use this line ? in a stage fragment? Did you add the fbmwFollowerControlQuest property?

Joncis Dalomax does have two unique greetings: "You have killed my captors, and I am grateful. I can find my own way from here." & "I cannot leave, not while my captors still live."

Not sure where you were searching, they were there right as rain.

Yes, I see them now under the generic Greetings. That isn't where I expected them. Dialogs tied to a quest are normally placed there. In TES3, he didn't have any dialogs for "rescue", "captures", or any other topic filtered for him. So I couldn't find them to then search Skywind's dialogs for them. Now that I have them, I can finish that quest. Thanks.

I have the script lines in the fragment for the dialogs of Follow me or Wait here. Same as in the MG quests. I have the properties set to the fbmwFollowerControlQuest quest. I've added the people to the 2 factions for followers (not that this should matter for compiling). I'll try again today as I am going through the quest from Darius.

Okay, so sometimes you just need to take a break and look at the problem later. In this case, I did a typo. I couldn't see it but I just figured I'd go ahead and copy that code to all the other follower quests. At least now I know how to fix  the rest of them. Duh!

I have Madura, the pilgrim, now following you back to the outpost. I couldn't figure out how to have the quest advance once she gets inside, so I used a OnCellAttach() event and then inside it compare the GetParentCell() to the cell I check for. It seems to work and I did a DismissFollow() to the quest stage. She wandered off and I was able to report back to Darius. However, I'm not sure if this worked like I wanted it to. During the next quest, Rescue Ragash (the orc tax collector), Ragash says she will follow me and I see the stage advance, but she won't actually follow me. Am I still tied to the first follower? The script fragment for following compiles and the properties are correct. Not sure what else to verify to see why one actor follows you but another doesn't.

Normally, once you dismiss a follower, you can attach a second one... You can debug the follower management code by adding debug messages in case it doesn't work as you need. I didn't particular issues in my quests, but you never know...

For the onCellAttach, I think the best way to achieve this is to create a triggerbox over the place where you suppose to bring the NPC (if that's an interior cell, just put a trigger in front of all entrances). Then add a script to that triggerbox that advances the stage accordingly when the NPC enters it.

That's what I use in other quests and it works fairly well.

I gave up on the OnCellAttach and created a trigger in the Ald Velothi Outpost. That fixed part of the problem. Second issue was that I was doing a DismissFollower(), but I see you do a DismissFollower(0,0). I added that in and it seemed to make Madura leave immediately instead of hang around me for a few minutes.

However, Ragash (the orc) still won't become a follower. I think I will try one of the other follower quests next to see if the problem is just with her or with all of my scripts. Her dialog is different from the normal "Travel together" lines and I'm wondering if that is an issue, even though the concept and the scripts are still the same. I have also noticed that I've had to tell the person to follow me several times before they actually will. It may be because the person was in the middle of another activity. Madura was either trying to sit down on a bench or sleep on the bedroll each time I tell her to follow. Ragash is usually either standing on a table or sitting in her cell. Only once was she actually standing there doing nothing. But even then she didn't follow me.

BTW, I've noticed that some of the actors have a marker for where they should be when they leave you. But not everyone. So for consistency, I'm using the trigger setup and script instead for everyone.

Here is the full package of the Imperial Legion questline.

Since I can't seem to paste my comments into this field anymore, I've also attached my notes about unfinished issues.

Yeah, I get the same issue, it has something to do with no script. You should be able to CTRL +v or Shift + Insert your copied text.

CTRL+V is what I normally do but it doesn't work here. I normally use IE but I also tried Firefox and that one won't even let me log into this site. Not sure if the problem is more of an anti-virus/security block issue or both of my browsers suck.
