Hi all, I am a voice actor who has worked on the "interesting NPCs" mod for Skyrim as well as several Fallout NV mods. I'm a huge fan of Morrowind and would love to help bring life to some of these characters, buuuuuut I do have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any answers (I'm sure they are very obvious, so bear with me ;D ).

Okay, first off - upon recording our lines, are we required to create .lip files or can we send in the wavs (as is usual with most mod projects I've worked on)? I generally try to keep my computer clear of excess programs so I'm just wondering. Not trying to appear lazy or anything, I know this is a TREMENDOUS amount of effort going into this mod, I'm just not familiar with that program is all and would prefer to avoid potentially screwing anything up c:.

Secondly, for the life of me I can't get any of the excel sheets to work to find the audition lines. I keep attempting to set the variables in the race/gender/name/etc boxes but it simply makes the page go blank, so I cannot actually see any lines. Is there an alternate version I can download somewhere or otherwise a list of dialog for open characters?

Thanks very much for your time :).

p.s the forum here originally tagged my post as spam. Not sure if this means once they figure out it's not spam It'll be double posted again, in which case sorry for the potential double post.

no you are not required to provide the lip files we can do that by batch, as for the spreadsheet, try one of the other versions in the second post, make sure it isnt set to read only mode, and run as an administrator

is it okay if I modify the script a bit, some of dialog is pretty cheesy.

I don't know if I can compete with a lot of the talent I've heard, but man are some of these people inspiring, so, figured I'd give it a shot...

I think they're really good, apart from the echoes (or sounds that seem as if they are played in a large orchestral hall. I don't know how to explain it...)

I just gave it a try

Brandr and Audenian Valius

Tell me if you want my voice, I'd love to participate.

There is quite a bit of background noise in that, can you clean it up?

Here it is, upgraded and fixed same as in Tutorial vid... Tell me what should I improve... However thx on feedback :) http://www.4shared.com/rar/pZRlIxM4ce/Wadarkhu.html

These sound much better, only one problem. You need a pop filter there is too much popping noise

Voices are great! Only one that doesnt quite fit is the dunmer, however quality is definitely an issue, lots of echo and background noise

Here's a couple lines with your suggestion "Orc".
Character: Bugrol gro-Bagul

EDIT: I will attempt something other than an Orc later on, after work.

Good, only improvement would be to lower the pitch a tad

Hey I finished 6 characters and have both the wav file and the mp3's for all of their voices. Here is a quality check

https://soundcloud.com/evrmoar

and here is the actual zip file

http://www.mediafire.com/download/p7bdarnn3lkfph0/EvrMoars%20Voice%20Acting.zip

Also I'm interested in picking up a couple of NPC's with alot of dialog, because I have a good sound equipment setup and have the time. I also did some time in sound engineer school so I know what I'm doing(most of the time.) If you could recommend or assign me someone that would be awesome. Any male woodelf, khajiit, nord, or imperial that would have a higher voice(obviously similiar to mine) would be awesome. If thats too time consuming I'll look into it more and pick some NPC's out. I just want to make sure I get an NPC noone else is working on.

These wood elves are pretty good, not sure on the khajiit yet i will listen in more depth when i get the full zip downloaded, also do you have a pop filter?

It depends on who, what lines, and what you want to change, but as for now as a general rule no, unless it is run by us and we agree to change it, this would create a lot of extra work and is of low priority at the moment

Greetings! I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series and I'd love to be a part of this project. I'm a pretty experienced animator, and I've done a lot of voice acting and voice directing for my animations over the years. If there are still any parts open, I'd love to try my hand at voicing them. Is there any way I can help out?

Hello,
I am new here, planning on doing some voice acting this weekend.
I was just curious if you needed any monster sounds or anything like that. I can do those death metal screams and low growl things. Not sure if you would want to use them in the game, but thought I would bring it up, could potentially be useful. I am a vocalist in a Metal band, so I do this stuff all the time. I also of course, can sing, if that was anywhere necessary.

I was just curious if it could be helpful. Either way I am still gunna do normal voice acting.

I am also curious on if I can get in with the composing, and where I could find that. I play piano and compose music and Jeremy Soule is one of my biggest influences, and would love to contribute my skills.

Thanks!

Closest thing to monster sounds we would need here is dremora or daedric princes, but I'm sure the sfx guys could use you, also there was a bard thread a while back for singing

Hello everyone!

I would love to try out for some female voice acting roles for this project, but I just wanted to ask a quick question before I do any recording:

If I got selected to voice one or more characters, how much of a time commitment do you think that that would end up being? I would be excited to record in my spare time, but my work schedule is variable and I wouldn't want to sign myself up for a commitment that I wouldn't be able to handle in a timely manner (especially since I'm sure that cleaning up sound files and/or getting a more adequate recording microphone might take awhile as well). That's just not fair to anyone involved. Do any mods or VAs have some advice, perhaps?

Thanks!

Thanks for this fantastic opportunity to be part of something AWESOME. I've never done any voice acting before so apologies if it doesn't live up. I've did the lines for the Khajiit S'Virr, and am willing to do the other couple-of-lines Khajiits that haven't been filled yet or help out with the shared/misc lines. Was going to do some other races but khajiit killed my throat for the night XD

http://www.mediafire.com/download/njtsj223cxvrj3o/S'virr.rar

Apologies for the lack of .lip files. I was having issues getting that to work properly. All the .wavs and .mp3's are there though.

Thanks!

Hello! Eloth asked me to do Tholer Saryoni, so I'm currently working on him. Will probably be done later today.

Hi all!

I just saw the video of this project the first time today and i have to say that i was totally amazed!

I really want to help with the voice acting! I always wanted to share my voice with some games, and this is an awesome opportunity!

I am a metal singer guy (now singin in a 'KoRn' and a 'Deftones' tribute band), so i have decent equipment for the recording! Im also interested in grunts-creepy monster sounds etc. too as the other metal singer guy just mentioned it a few posts above :D (what a coincidence!)

Also, i can make decent 2d concept arts too, and some decentish 3d models too maybe (im new to 3D, so only like simple items, and maybe some weapons)!

Here is my deviantart page http://feroxx-gosu.deviantart.com/gallery/23878014

I will post back tomorrow when i have something to show!

Cheers!

A lot of talented folks here, so no pressure D:

Here's some lines I did this morning, just trying out a few of the various races:

(Just used these characters as samples, just to see if you think there's any role I could do)

Argonian: https://soundcloud.com/veggie55/argonian-sample/s-Shqh1

Orc: https://soundcloud.com/veggie55/orc-smaple/s-eBJ1S

Nord: https://soundcloud.com/veggie55/nord-sample/s-bU3y1 (Little messy at times, sorry)

Imperial: https://soundcloud.com/veggie55/imperial-sample/s-R76UJ

Breton: https://soundcloud.com/veggie55/breton-sample/s-sz3hr

[Reckon I could give Kahjiit a shot at some stage.]

Hopefully I uploaded these the right way ^^;

That depends on how good voice is, how long the role is. How many other roles of the same race are available and if anyone else is interested in the same role but there is a LOT of work to go around so don't let that discourage you, chances are you will have lots of time

I couldn't figure out how to send them to you via PM, so I'm attaching them here.
The first one is a Commercial Reel in Norwegian, the second is a Narration Reel in English. Should show some different tones.

sounds quite good, what races are you interested in?

I'm happy to do anything you need, really.
Like I mentioned before, I'm Norwegian so I could do some Female Nord characters with a Scandinavian accent. I could do Eydis Fire-Eye for example, if you think my voice is suitable.
Or I could do a Nord with accent and a bit lower pitch as well as a different character with a higher pitch and a more British accent.

It's all up to what you need.

Yes I use a pop filter, honestly I did like two takes of the Khajiit and had to call it just because it was a misc. one liner and I had to be somewhere. When I have more time I could put more work in. I think I'm gonna go mess with nord, imperial and dunmer today.

The Khajiit was a bit lacking and we have quite a few good people on them already, they are almost complete, the rest were good however nord was the best, i liked the orc aswell, Dagoth ur is already voiced

sounds a tad young, also too much like you are reading off the script, dont be afraid to over act, keep trying

Not sure if this is still alive but gonna assume so.

Let me get this straight: assigned means that they have been confirmed and cannot be changed? I'm pretty good at doing monstrous voices and voices for like khajiit or orc etc but I doubt I'm any good at normal voices cause my voice is kinda "rusty" if I don't clear my throat over and over lol.

Hi, i'd like to offer my voice for some of the minor character voice roles that need doing.

I have done a few lines as a demo so you can see what races i'm inclined to try and voice: One line each from Bols Indalen (Dunmer), Irgola (Redguard) and Joshur (Khajiit). I've also thrown in some Altmer misc. lines in, as they are easy enough with my accent.

https://soundcloud.com/sctom/sw-voice-test

Let me know if you'd like me to help.

So, does assigned mean, "you could still get it if you're good enough," or does it mean, "stay away, it's taken care of?"

In my experience around here, "assigned" is a bit flexible meaning that someone has said that they'll voice the character but it's not guaranteed that they will and if too much time goes by without hearing from the person it is assigned to someone else.

For example, nearly all argonians and khajiit was assigned once but we didn't hear from the guys for months (still haven't) so we freed the characters.

So if there is a specific character you have in mind just ask about it, (we should probably date the assigned ones or something to IMO)

For example right now, crassius curio has been assigned to eric saleh and we didn't ever hear from him after first contact when he talked big about voicing this-and-that and I can't understand why he hasn't been removed by now.

Didn't mean to write a blog about it but it needed to be said sooner or later.

Those are great! the dunmer was a bit off but bravo on the rest, altmer even sounded similar to the guy who already voiced the males well done, as far as i am concerned pick any redguard khajiit or even try and tacle some altmer, if you would like i can give you the voicetype for the altmer

By lowering pitch, do you mean me re-recording them? Or just using the program to lower it? Because I used the program to change it first and it sounds a bit guy-ish now lol

https://soundcloud.com/laserhamster/randomlineslower

Ha thats not bad, maybe lower it a little less but i think that sounded better, cant be a crazy old lady if you sound too young

Ahh I know, I swear I was trying really hard to sound more "womanly"... I forgot how much of a child I sound like when I record, but I've never done anything like this and hoped to help out! :D

Though I'm not too sure how I can make the pitch right, I think I'll just have to record again or something? O.o I was using Audacity to change the pitch, but I can't get to a happy medium with it.. grr

Here is a reupload of my imperal guard i used a clear speaking tone and more avrage manish because imperals are not nords and tend to be slightly smaller used a bass boost to give it a litte extra ummph some feed back would be great im new and still trying to pin point this voice.
