How far you go with voice acting? Alternatives? Have some consider.

Hi all,

so everybody is talking about this voice acting stuff in Skyblivion/Skywind. Probably you guys already talked about these things, but I would like to ask some stuff.

For Skywind, are you gonna try to use voice acting for the full game/all speeches? If yes: is this not gonna cost the project a lot of time? I mean how much text is there in morrowind? Million of lines? Is it even possible to add voice acting for every character and every speech? - of course, but as I said, this will cost time. And the second thing: with all these voices the size of the mod will go up like hell not?

Are there also plans to let people choose between voice acted mod and non-voice acted mod? I'm just asking because right now I see some people who just wan't to play this without voice acting. The reasons are different, it´s sometimes because they just don't like some of the "actors voice" or because they played morrowind vanilla and have already a "special voice" in their head. Or just are familiar without this stuff. So is there a way to create this modular?

I played Morroblivion and for myself there is nothing wrong with this non-voice acted stuff. It´s just weird, because you have to read sometimes fast and the fonts are not that solid. But probably there is a way to use similar mods like protocolled dialogs for Morroblivion. That is making things easier. I just also think for myself that the actual morroblivion and also skywind fonts are not that good for reading, but this is just my opinion, probably there is a way to make them smaller or more solid for the eyes.

Ok I'm done :) I hope somebody could answer some of my questions. Thank you!

The voice acting is a seperate download, its basically a mod for a mod, and of course it will take a long time but voice actors arent contributing to anything else, except for a few exceptions, so its not like its slowing the rest of the mod down? Im not entirely sure why you are concerned that it will take a long time.

The voice acting doesn't take up our resources it has no effect on the general development of Skywind.

Well, in the end, if all things are set up and finished, we can always try to cooperate with the devs from interesting npcs and other mods that have experience and resources for the voice acting module. But atm the team has other priorities :).
