I do not have any background noise when i listen to them and the last few seem to work, too. What could have caused the problem?
@Cpt_Strohbart It sounds like
It sounds like there is some compression artifacting in the files you uploaded. It might be from when you export the audio out as MP3? Try a higher bitrate.
Here's an example with higher bitrate that does not have compression artifacts:

Hello everyone :) I am much looking forward to becoming a part of the skywind voice acting team, and hopefully I can make my voice work. I noticed a lot of Dunmer voices were still needed, so I took a shot at it and made up a few voice samples this morning. No editing has been done on them except for removing the noise, and ill take any suggestions.

My friend is offering me his 400$ beringer mic for 80$ so if my voice is useful in anyway I am interested in doing more voice overs with some better equipment for the actual game :) as I am just using my headset for auditioning.
Thank you for your advice.
Thank you for your advice. I´ve tried 320 kbit/s now. I hope this will fix the issues.

Well, it's better. It still doesn't sound clean though. Make sure you are recording on a quality microphone and you follow the tutorials on the first post for noise reduction. Have a pop filter and try to eliminate any echo with sound absorbing material. When using audacity, do the noise removal process to try and eliminate everything but the sound of your voice. Make sure it's also normalized (which the converter from the first post will do for you).
EDIT: Also, get soundcloud. People are more likely to listen when they can just follow a link, and it doesn't require bandwidth.

Def. need a better mic. The voice could use a tune-up IMHO. It needs more rasp and less of your actual voice. But I'm not a head honcho so that's not up to me! lol... If it's something you're truly interested in though get the mic, watch the tutorials and practice. Even if you can't pull off the dark elf we will probably be able to use you somewhere else! Keep it up!

Hey! Thanks greatly on assigning me to Strillian Macro, I'm about half done recording his lines (Who knew there would be so many for such an insignificant character?)
In any case, I wanted to point out that at one point, in his lines, he says the line "If you want to talk to an experienced spellsword, go find Strillian Macro." "He's an experienced spellsword ... etc"
I find this odd. Mayhaps these lines have been misplaced? In any case, I will continue to record.

Yeah, Duke Vedam Dren had a lot of similar lines. I guess maybe he's like 'Bob Dole', referencing himself in the third person?
but lines like this are awkward, and some lines are just not grammatically correct at all. I am going to try recording them as they make sense, and see if we can get the text to fit with the more natural voices. There should be a way to correct these before the final release, yes?

Sound quality is good for the most part.. some clean up needed here and there.. but don't worry about that for now.
The voice though.. i am very split on it on it. You roll you Rs for the most part.. which is good.. and the voice itself is fine.. but yet there is something which makes it sound a little off for a Nord.. but then again.. maybe it will work.
I never played morrowind and so i am not completely certain who this man is. If anyone cares to give me a description.. I can give my opinion on whether the voice fits him or not. If not, keep the voice.. might need it for another, half crazy/distant + old nord.

Haha, will do, captain! You can thank my older brother for helping me edit and record. I'm no sound engineer, but he really cleaned up the sound and made all the needed adjustments.
Also, my microphone is surprisingly good for its price. It hasn't let me down yet.

Here's my take on Ano Vando, a dunmer vampire hunter. He's got only a few lines, but they're quite fun. Not perfectly clean recording nor exactly consistent voice however should be fine for casting :).
Lemme know what could be improved and if it fits at all.

I think you meant 'Dunmer' vampire hunter, unless he hunts only Dwemer vampires - in which case he must be very efficient.
As for the voice, the raspitude is there for the most part, but a lot of 'your' voice is coming through, which makes it feel a bit off. See if you can't be a little more consistent with the sound. The Dunmer are known to be especially dour, and this guy takes that even further - so go deep and go slow. Let each word drip with calculating hatred.
"Destroy them if you can - run if you must - but never let their disease run through your veins. Or I will find you." This line should be ponderous - put weight on each segment. It's advice followed by a warning followed by a threat.
Haha, yes, Dunmer indeed.

If you are getting it cheap, get it. New, you can get it for $99 after some quick browsing. So if you are getting it used, don't bother paying more than $70. Personally, i would spend the money on a samson Gomic, a microphone stand and a pop filter all for $70. The outcome will be much better than just buying a slightly better microphone without those accessories. You don't need a stand but it makes it all easier to set up because the mic and the pop filter can attach to it. It also seems that it is uses XLR which means you will need an audio interface that supports XLR (external sound card etc) which will add to the price significantly and it seems that it is designed to be put in a shock mount so placing it might be a problem without a stand/shock mount set up.. If you have that already, feel free to get it.. i listened to some tests and it seems like a solid mic if you can get it for $70... cause you were getting it from a friend right? if not and you are planning to get it new, don't bother... not saying it isn't worth the price but you are getting diminishing returns.
blah blah.. get this if you have everything you need for it already. If not, spend $40 on a samson gomic and a mic stand/pop filter if your budget allows it. I recommend the samson gomic to anyone on here because it is the best bang for your buck you will find as far as microphone quality is concerned. It is the mic i use personally and it is more than good enough for this project and very handy as it is small and can clip onto laptop screens, be attached to a microphone stand or stand on its own using the weight of its base.
This is my advice, take it or leave it.

You have a good voice for a noble imperial. I don't know the characters in the game much but i think that would be good for an honest knight or something. The acting might take some work but I am sure you can do it!
The noise in the background is low enough.. but it is on the border. If you can remove it a little more that would be awesome, if not.. that's fine too. (speaking of your imperial clip here).
Some tips: make sure you are recording about 6-8 inches away from your microphone. That's 15-20 centimetres.
that's it from me.. now you just need to find an imperial that works :)
As for the orc and dunmer, they will need some work. They are fine, but the orc is a little too mumbly and the dunmer does not sound downbeat enough.

Very nice. Acting is decent and so is the quality. I can hear a little bit of the room if i listen carefully but i think it is more than good enough. As far as quality is concerned, i say this is fine. Just note that i listened to random clips with faith that the quality is kept consistent.

Ack, I'm annoyed with myself.
I have absolutely no idea how I did that Dunmer voice on Monday, but I spent hours trying to get it back... Sadly, this is as close as I got; (Assaba Bentus below)
So to make myself feel somewhat better, I did a run-through of some of the remaining Imperials; Lucretinaus Olcinius, Zeno Faustus and Saprius Entius, just to see what they were like.
If the Dunmer voice isn't what you'd originally wanted, I apologise, but I literally cannot get an exact match on the one I did on Monday ):

Hi and thanks for the feedback! I'll go a-hunting for an Imperial or two then. I'm very new to voice acting in general (clearly you could tell :) ) and the Imperial is pretty close to my normal speaking voice, so it's probably a good place to start. Learn to crawl before I walk, and all that...

I was thinking about this, too. I think it's a bit silly to have every little thing every NPC says in Morrowind (pretty much ALL NPCs in Morrowind had the same 'rumors' and 'advice') voice acted. Perhaps this sort of stuff could just be relegated to the bartenders in the various corner clubs, or homeless guys in exchange for a few septims?

Hi Noobos85, and welcome.
Like the others have said, the quality is not there. You'll need to have a good mic setup. See the first post for some suggestions. Also make sure and watch the tutorials there for audacity to try and get as clean a sound as possible.
As Cor said, the lines are in the spreadsheet, which can be found in the second post. Either scroll through to find the lines or use the hand filter in the first tab. If you type it in, remember it's needs to be spelled and punctuated the same.
