You've got some serious echo in both of those - it sounds almost like a distortion effect? Also, the way you read the lines doesn't feel 'natural'. Don't be afraid to be dramatic, but make it conversational - get into character and roll with it.
Also, sadly, I believe the Khajiit are all taken - at least for now.

For Argonians, I'd go slower, lower, and 'blower'. Well, airy. Heavy on the breath - like your lungs have to work extra hard to force the words out. And have a slow, thoughtful approach to the lines. Leave the fast-talking to the Khajiit.

Never done it before (for a project at least) but it has been my dream since I was a little baby (exaggerated). Anyway, quick question.
I was looking over at the lines of the Imperial males in the spreadsheet. But the sheet only goes till the letter C. Names with other letters then A, B or C are not on there. Am I missing something really obvious here (which makes me a fool) or is the sheet simply not finished yet?
Other then the Imperial, I will also give Nord and Dunmer a bash! Expect examples soon. (I hope)

Make sure to click "NPCS with unique dialogue." and then click anywhere, ctrl f and then search for the name you're looking for. If you can do a dunmer, that'd be amazing :D

It's best to use trusted sites if you're going to link voice. I recommend either directly uploading, or sending us a link to a soundcloud profile, as there is no downloading required. IT also makes it easier on all of us who wan't to hear what you have to say, without downloading.

And the dunmer could use some work, they are the most difficult to voice, and I recommend working on it some more, until it doesn't sound forced, with a natural sound. Think you're on the right path though, keep working on it, check out Smitehammer's dunmer (just check a couple pages back until you see his King Helseth) that's essentially what you'll be shooting for.

rftexasLangotrielrftexasLangotrielrftexasI'm auditioning with Aenar the Nord. Didn't look like he was cast when I looked at the OP. I haven't done voice acting in several years so I'm probably going to need a lot of work to get up to snuff. The samples I found for the Nord so far have been too short for me to really get a feel for the accent and the lilt, if anybody has some longer material that I can use I would appreciate it.
There is no R in helmet :P
Good effort.. are you able to pull off a deeper, cleaner voice while keeping the R? do that. You know how it is, you start rolling and you can't help but keep going.
I tried dropping it deeper, but I'm a little worried I started rolling some of the r's too much.
Woah.. slow down a little. Your words sound a little rushed and therefore quite unclear. The player needs to be able to understand what you are saying so try to make that your number 1 priority! No matter how good the quality or voice is, if it isn't clear, we can't use it.
Other than that.. i think it would do fine for a first draft... maybe. I mean another thing is that your deep voice sounds a little un natural.. it is hard to explain but it seems a little empty.. It lacks real depth. I don't know.. just work on it and i am sure you can impress! :)Alright, I slowed down, tried to put a little more mmph into it. The link above should work.
Well now you are speaking slower than an ent from lord of the rings. It needs to sound natural and clear. speak at a normal pace with normal spaces in between the different sections of sentences. Just get into the role. Try again.
Aleebi wrote:

That's a good-sounding Nord to me! Personally, if you could speak a little more clearly (you're mumbling, not pronouncing words clearly enough), that would be great.

"what unce do you want me to say" ..?? unce? I need you do pronounce things clearly. Well.. you have the acting down. the sound is slightly muffled. maybe you are too close when recording.. are you using a headset? the quality itself is almost too good for a headset.. record about 6-8 inches away from the microphone. It seems to be lacking some treble.. try adding some while editing.. or slap an EQ on there with some emphasis on the high-mids (4-8K)
Now.. for your role. you don't sound like a dunmer. Alds baros rasp is not quite right but i appreciate the effort. Try to catch smitehammer in the chat.. he might help you get the voice if you think you are capable. If not, you could go for a youngish (early 30s) imperial if you want. Give me a few more examples and we will see where you fit best :)

AleebiLangotrielumm.. how do i say this. no?.. no.
Although the sound quality is not perfect, i can hear that it won't be that hard to clean up the noise etc.. But i am not sure if your voice will fit the remaining roles. can you roll your Rs and sound a little monotone with a deep voice? cause then you can do nord. Sadly, i am not sure that you will be able to manipulate your voice in a way that will fill the remaining roles.
I am not in a position to really give advice on how to do Argonians.. haven't got a feel for what we are going for yet so i will have to leave that for now...
See what you can do anyway... it would be a shame to give a straight up no.
First of all, thanks for replying. For some reason I assumed not all Nords talked with a forced Scandanavian accent so I wasn't rolling my R's. I can go lower, and I'll re-record my voice asap.
As for other roles, I have a tenor's vocal range. Do you recommend that I try any other roles?
as a tenor you can really do any role... but we need imperials, nords and dunmer. Imperials are based on romans and need to sound important and in control. nords .. you know what we want from them .. Dunmer have a rasp that needs to sound natural and not airy.. have a go at what you feel you can handle.

We have no need for khajit at the moment. Maybe we will have to replace some in the future, but not now.
As for the nord.. maybe. It will have to be deeper, it will have to have rolled Rs (all Rs..very very few exceptions) without sounding middle eastern. We are going with finnish inflection with proper english pronounciations and rolled Rs for male nords. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUqTM6kCR_U listen to how he speaks .. rolling Rs and pretty monotone.. but we are not pronouncing things like "Britiss" .. we still say british with the correct SH so people can understand.
hope this helped.

Alright.. screw other roles. You are an imperial now.. and the awesome thing is that you sound older here than you did in the other clips which shows you can be diverse with your voices. The clips all share this weird muffle sound though... i am thinking you should add some treble or some high EQ and then keep the S sounds under control so they don't tear ears a part. I am sure you can handle that so from now on, you can pick any imperial you want that isn't assigned! .. I will also talk to "the board" about you for a special role that i have in mind. more on that later. :P

It is almost there. A little clearer, a little deeper.. and you need to work on the accent slightly. Let us take the word, "materials". You said, "materiehls" which makes it sound more stereotypically middle eastern. We need it to sound like, "Materiahls" .. so .. basically english.. but a little more monotone than most english speakers would say it.

Thank you for the example! I was a bit confused on pronunciation so this clears up a lot. I'll pick Aenar because I've spent most of my time on his lines.
I'll start recording as soon as possible and see if I can fit some Imperials in my downtime.

Cool! Thanks, Langotriel! As for my mic, I was recording at probably 4-5 inches away to minimize background noise from an air filter I have in the room that's a huge pain to turn back on if I turn it off. I'll make a point of turning it off for other recordings, that should clean things up some.
I record using a Blue Yeti directly through USB, I didn't want to spend the extra 80 to get the hybrid USB/XLR one. I think the voice quality could be fine, but you have a lot of noise with the voice, I recommend standing a little farther away from your mic, and try to shut out any form of noise (no matter how small) from the area to improve quality.
