[MIA] Docks, Planks, Wood Stairs

Submitted by Micaka on

Hello there everybody!
Just started to getting along with my work on http://tesrenewal.com/forums/3d-model-claims/docks-status-unclaimed and have almost finnished all base meshes for the docks and starting to UV-map and texture them.
So far the base meshes for docks are complete and i put on some basic UV maps and Texture before going to sleep and finally could see it some parts alive in Skyrim thanks to happychappys help!
(to the left morrowind reference and to the right skywind meshes)

A basic UV map and textured piece.

Test static mesh put into skyrim (too lazy to fix its position) and reference follower for scale.

My UV-map for the planks, this is mostly just temporarely UV map but texturing and mapping isnt my strong side so this is where i would like to have the most feedback and suggestions and help.

(example normal made in hurry for testing)
(UV map and texture for spiling)

So as mentioned i would like to hear some feedback and criticism because this is the first time im working with 3d modeling for games and Skyrim, i'm using Autodesk Maya 2014 and 3dsMax 2012 (as converter) and then nifscope and photoshop.

dat producitivity :D

Have u tried these?

They're common textures we want to keep using throughout to keep file sizes down and keep it more organised.

you could always try solitude dock textures also

*on closer inspection, it seems u have. :p
The wooden board textures were specifically made for box mapping including sides, but its up to u :)

Update #1
Struggeling around fixing scales jumping in and out of Vardenfell and Skyrim.
Finally found out a decent scale with matches good with my morrowind reference screens from Hla Oad and some from skyrim here below.

Soon done converting all Maya Binary files to Fbx which i use 3ds Max to re-export them as Nif-files and then in Nifskope there comes alot of work sorting out textures and rescaling.

They already appear to be a vast improvement. Great job!

Playing around with the textures and added some barnacles and a kind of swampish/wetlands touch to the spilings

Great work! Don't lose the original, we may use this for caves without water/barnacles :)

Great job! But can u diffuse it? They are so clean and accurate. but they were built long ago. Also about textures, i think they must have morrowind color, as morrowind color more similar to the color, which you can see in real life (im about docs near seas).

Those are looking great, but indeed they could be a bit more covered in algae and generally weathered. It would go great with the general theme of the Bitter Coast too ;) No need to overdo it though, just a bit darker colour and more algae.

A little update on how it's going.
All docks pieces are now converted into Nif where they've been textured and modified to work in game, trying out some random pieces and it is coming somewhere, still havnt figure out how to fix the collision to the nifs (help) and still some issues with missing textures or objects, sigh
