SAMPLE LINES

I have long believed it was a mistake to turn from the old gods. Perhaps Azura is with you after all. And perhaps not. I will tell you that I've spoken with Dagoth Ur. He promised me the same thing. That he will drive the foreigners from our lands. But I am not one to ignore opportunity, nor am I one to be troubled by rubbing two sides of a coin. If you are one of your word, I am your ally. I will tell Velanda Omani and Nevena Ules to support you as Hortator of House Hlaalu. VOICE INFORMATION

In general, Dunmer should sound wise, even in their youth. They live in a harsh land, and their lifespans are very long - they are a pragmatic people and venerate the wisdom of their elders from even from a young age. They should speak in a precise manner, taking the time to think through exactly what they mean to say as they say it.

For female Dunmer, the most important thing to consider is the culture they're coming from. Female members of House Hlaalu are the most heavily influenced by Imperial (and therefore Aldmeri) influence. They could very well speak with a lilt of the Imperial nobles, to a degree, though their voices won't be as commanding or crisp as either the Imperials or the Altmer. The old voice for the Altmer would have made a great Hlaalu Dunmer.

Female Redoran Dunmer do not need the British lilt. The Redoran should sound proud, and stalwart. A mature-voiced and not necessarily as crisp version of the more American imperials could work - think 'superhero'.

Telvanni Dunmer females would seem suspicious and cold.

Ashlander females need to crank up the elderly wisdom vibe to 11. Depending on how good they are with Cyrodilic (English) their accent may even sound Dothraki or Mongolian.

For males, the rasp is the most important thing. If you can throat sing, and apply this rasp on top of throat singing, that is the ideal Dunmer voice. That's how Jeff Baker does the voice. After you nail the sound you can think on the cultural influences.

First time doing any voice

First time doing any voice acting work, and I'm super excited it's with this project. I haven't actually played Morrowind, so I'm not familiar with the characters, but I'd love some additional text to work on! I loved Oblivion and Skyrim, and wanted to get into voice acting in part to improve the performances of the games I love. I'm an actor, so any direction would be awesome too. I've recorded the sample

I've recorded the sample lines in the first post using my Rode video mic. There's more work to be done to perfect it, but this is the general quality I'll be outputting right now.

There's some odd artifacting going on after completing the edits recommended in the video from the Voice Acting Hub. Normalising, Compressing then Normalising seems to be janking it a bit, so I rolled it back to just a normalising, and it seems a tad better - still some artifacting that's not present in the base recording after noise removal.

This is also sans-EQ, so there's some touch ups that could be done.

As a bonus, have some ad-lib rough-customer N'wah dialogue, and another famous Dunmer quote!

Hi there.

This is my very first time trying some voice acting stuff, but I've always wanted to do something like this.

My microphone is definitely not perfect, but I guess it might do if I try to work out some way to reduce some of the noise it makes while I'm speaking.

I'm obviously open for any criticism and/or tips to improve, especially since I'm not quite sure if my voice sounds "low" enough and I have a feeling that I sometimes mix up some accents (english is not my main language). So any help is highly appreciated!

Edit: Another thing is, that I don't know how to pronounce some of the names in these lines. I'll definitely have to work on that.

Well, here goes! I saw that

Well, here goes! I saw that you had fewer female voices and figured I'd try my hand, er, voice at it. Maybe for once my deeper, hoarse voice will come in handy! :P What do you think, is it too deep for a lady elf, even if she is a dunmer? I tried to go off of the female dark elves in Skyrim for the accent/intonation.

Pretty sure the sound quality won't be up to par right now, but I could always make improvements in my setup and editing if it sounds like there's any potential.

Both samples are similar, just different pitch.

P.S. HUGE shout-out to all the amazing people who are making this work. I just spent hours drooling all over the different boards on here and was thoroughly impressed.

And I apologize for probably mangling the pronunciation of names in the sample script.

I do not know who is this character, but I used the lines recommended by Smitehammer. If you want to hear me voice a specific character, please let me know his name and I will be please to try it again. I hope it matches the actual voice of a Dark Elf, because I've heard some pretty amazing auditions on this page!!
