Skyrims conversation UI is about as basic as it can be. Its designed for skyrims npc's who lacked a relationship system, and had only a few topics of conversation.
This doesnt work in skywind. That "Gradient" effect that makes topics fade as you scroll makes you feel lost in fog when looking for the right one. The solution is obviously not to cut out all those topics; they add to the depth of the game, something skyrim lacked. the solution is to redesign the UI. No more fade effects, no more B.S.
Here is a design I came up with (yes I simply dicked about with paint and a screenshot from my Morrowind, but you get the jist ;) )
This system is much more coherent. A scroll bar has been added to show the player exactly where they are in the list, there is no more topic-fading, and overall things are much more clear and in-depth. The finished thing should have fonts more reminiscent of Morrowind too.
Constructive criticism is welcome, along with other concepts :D

Mhm. Skyrim's system won't work well here. Yours looks better.
EDIT: I just noticed, your proposed system looks a lot like Oblivion's.
Haha I guess it does. I hadn't noticed that. Dont worry though, it wont zoom up on their face like their about to eat you.
This looks brilliant. Hope its possible for someone to implement.
Don't like that it is a big box on the screen. Would be nicer if you took a more modern design approach and just have what skyrim has but with the different colour scheme and more topics visible at once.
the game mechanics department is planning to change most of the UI's in skyrim. That includes the conversation UI's. Where currently working on the main screen UI. Just be patient and we will deliver. :)
i just want to say that numerical disposition of personage (44/100) is quite obsolete.
i think question about 'where are your pants?' should be on top.
this is for you alysander. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhaT7F7lMEY
I think the vast majority of those dialog options should simply be removed. Like 75% of them a merely copy pasted from NPC to NPC and add nothing to the game and don't help the player in any way. Also why would random strangers tell you secrets if you asked for them? It should be brought up to Skyrim standards, rather than drug down to the old Morrowind style of conversation with nonsensical options, and copy-pasted dialog. Also there shouldn't be displayed numerical values on how your relationships with NPCs are.
Jorgen.. The dialogue system is being reworked.. The generic characters are being sorted via faction and class so they don't all have all the same dialogue.
