Though the title speaks for itself, here are some of the points for and against having a sload in Skywind:
Pros:
-Fans would fawn over this
-They do have some reasons to be on Vvardenfell, because of access to slavers, the outbreak of corpus, a powerful new disease, etc. where would be a better place for a Sload necromancer and disease lover than the apocalypse of Morrowind?
-An appearance of a Sload in a development video would bring a wave of volunteers
-There are already concepts for these sexy beasts

I could perhaps, with the help of EHam in January, create a unique race that allows lipsyncing.
So yes its doable
Cons:
1.fans/players may accuse of adding too much non-morrowind content
2. a full 80 hours of work required to get these guys in game, at least.
3. more VA needed.
ive already had a play at speed sculpting these guys in my spare time not got anywhere with them yet mind you but i always seem to have a go and one day maybe i will get it right plus if i remeber right both the andoran team and dark creation team have them in the process of being made too and ive found that yes they all look great but theres really only one style and thats the mid/late life cycle of the sload as they change from a lave non sentient stage (that sload soap is made from) a squid like stage then late stages that become more fatter and grotesque with age to the point where they cannot move and only use recall spells to move
Would be a worthy investment.
~Source: I'm said fan who fawns over this.
Muppet puppet has already created sloads the model and stuff, he also has hi res versions on steam, he said i could use it for a mod if you ask him he might let you use it, it's from moonpath to elsweyr. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9782/? however his versions could use some talking animations.
I am yay on this(for obvious reasons), though I think the Sloads should be on the lowest priority so that we can at least get the main content of Skywind finished.
As a fan, this would be great.
If it's done, let it be a very small, obscure character far off the beaten track. Perhaps the sload is a researcher visiting the bowels of Fyr's corprusarium, studying corprus? Hell, he could have been invited by Fyr himself.
Or, seeing that there are new non-lore (but lore-friendly) catacombs under Ghostgate, perhaps he is present there? Seeking the tonal tuning fork or something? Studying the blight?
I think the only logical compromise is to have him out of the way, hard to reach, and obscure.
Don't know if this will be of any help or anything but sload necromancers in valenwood were mentioned in the law :/
I wonder how the eyes would look if they barely bulged out
I think you can delete nostrils and make less prominent chin.
I would vote yay, but only one sload character that is very minor and mysterious!
I vote nay. The first con Ravannna mentioned is important.
My vote would be a yay. I think that some guys here on the forum know the lore better than bethesda themselves (as seen in TESO). I also really missed Sloads guys since Redguard. Beth took away a lot of the Game's varieties with Oblivion and Skyrim, wich had a really bad influence at the lore. Morrowind reflects all the good stuff that is missing (at least thats my opinion). And if Sloads are possible and no harm to the lore, they should be in there. (And also there are these damn fine concept arts, and it would be a shame to ignore them!)
I think Sload would be better off as some sort of easter egg than anything else. They're stated as being rather secretive and isolationist, after all. Plus, considering the history of the Sload, any number appearing in a particular location would be a great cause of concern for the Empire, possibly much more of a problem than the events that happen in Morrowind's main plot. This definitely seems like a low priority thing either way.
My vote is yay, but it may be better to make it optional for the people that would object to anything that wasn't in vanilla morrowind.
Also I believe the Moonpath to Elsweyr has a sload in it. Maybe that could be used with permission from the mod-author?
no offence to that sload maker but the quality level of our creatures and characters is skyrim level or better, that sload, whilst saving time, would stick out quite badly, and isnt set up for lip sync
I find the idea to make anything that wasn't in the original optional just because some people want it 100% the same as morrowind to be tiresome. We shouldn't base everything on people like that because it's a lost cause to do so.
If people are so fanatical about it being exact like morrowind, they should play morrowind instead. So yay, yeah.
YES, HELL YES. This should be a thing for phase 2 though, after the main project is finished. It should be our own little expansion (and frankly I'd prefer it over the Firemoth, or even Solstheim).
First of all, Sload were supposed to be in the original game, they were in the general concept of it. When production started they were probably axed off due to being technically hard to make. I don't think there are any fans who would be more angry at adding Sload than covering whole Vvardenfell with basalts.
There is a way we could do this in a neat way. It would be difficult, more difficult than just the race - but would also be way more awesome. We could have our own Sload floating ship - city. They're known for their flying cities that they travel with as merchants. We could create the Subo-Lathla Skyport from Kirkbride's concept. There's a metric ton of concept artists who'd be delighted to design that thing. You would of course only travel there by sky striders.
One thing this kind of city would enable for us, is adding stuff from all over Tamriel. Sload are a huge merchant power. They buy and sell EVERYTHING. That city would be a great gateway for all kinds of additional mods. Clothing, weapons, armors of EVERY race on Tamriel, Maormer or Tang Mo slaves to buy, next to slaves of every Tamrielic race... Want a traditional Redguard suit? Want a Khajiit sitar? Want to buy ancestor moth silk? Argonian weapons? Armor made of hist sap? You could buy all of that in the Sload market. I don't think it should necessarily be something our team should make, but I would love to see that in Skywind as an addition. And to make it to seem even less invasive, when we install the addon much like other two expansions, we overhear rumours that a Sload Skyport is hovering near Zafirbel Bay, just arrived, open for trading. And of course the amount of quests one could come up for such an expansion is probably limitless, and all would be compelling and interesting.
But as I mentioned in the start. Big YAY, but it should wait until Skywind's completion. We can add Sload without necessarily incorporating them as something that's on Vvardenfell all the time.
Dragomir, I think that's a brilliant idea.
Yah of course.
Like everything it just a case of time and talent
I'll have to go with Nay.
Core content first. We already have a few reworks/additions in progress with the Red Mountain, Sixth House culty-thingies, and the re-imagining of every city/region. I like the idea of the Sloads but this will be a crazy investment on our part that will not be executed well unless we dedicate our time and energies to them. I'd prefer to see this happen post release 1.0. of Skywind, perhaps around the time we decide to tackle Tribunal and Bloodmoon.
I think yay, but very rare, perhaps just one unique one. I'm pretty sure sloads were cut when the mainland was cut very early on in development, because the skyport would have been nearer to Dres slave markets. They are known to go to Tear for slave trading, but wouldn't be very common to show up in Vvardenfell.
@Dragomir,
It sounds intriguing when you put it like that, but what happens when you include all these new armor and weapons which, by the sound of it, can simply be bought? How do we maintain some sort of balance in the game? And what happens to the weapons the player has to work for? Do they become obsolete?
Sload are master merchants. I'd imagine all their things to be insanely expensive. And never did I say that these armors or weapons would be overpowered, perhaps a few artifacts could. Player would still have to work for them by raising the right amount of money... And another thing is that Morrowind itself isn't really balanced. You can find a Daedric spear or an ebony longsword on level 1 if you know where to look.
Also, that's another thing I forgot to mention - in Morrowind I had hundreds of artifacts that were so expensive one could ever only sell those for the fraction of their actual value. However... Sload are insanely rich and eager to buy rare, exotic artifacts. This could be an opportunity to have very rich traders to sell the most expensive stuff to.
All in all, I don't see how would that disbalance the game, assuming that some thought would be put into making the items not overpowered.
Having it be another alternative to Creeper and the Mudcrab merchant is an idea I really like.
and n'gasta is 1 of my favorite elder scroll charecters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce-0vFRqTwU at 49:30
Okay I know that I allready gave my YAY to sloads. But I also have to place a NAY to airships, massive questlines and all that stuff. Of course it would be interesting and cool, but that shouldn't be in Skywind. there should be sloads in the final release, but just a few, strange fellas, who study the blight and Dagoth Ur's other diseases. So: my final vote is: Yay Sloads. Nay Traders. Nay Colonies. Nay airships.
If there is a sload trading airship caravan (phew, that was a mouthful) -- an idea I like -- it would work well as a separate worldspace.
Okay if the final answer is a resounding Yay, then I will do a full turn around of the Sloads for the 3D artist, of the designs that you guys choose from.
You might want to clear with Eloth/Rav. There's stuff on 3D that's really high priority that needs to be done before the Sloads even if the response is positive for the idea =/
Seeing as none of my designs have gone through and haven't been given anything to do in a while, I think I have the free time to actually do something
heres the current active development and u try fitting in your 2d around it when u have time.
Envrionment: We've just finished bittercoast.
West Gash and sheo are getting done and still having some new assets.
molag amur and RM have nothing started so still time to add to that.
Interiors:
Kwama Caves are getting an overhaul.
We're thinking about designing assets for different types of caves like basalt, west gash caverns
Archi.
Gurhie and I are doing strongholds, design mostly done.
Imperial/common/nord is morrowind style.
Hmmm long story short, I think the only options are:
1.Landscaping scenes (drawing ideas for interesting scenes for landscaper to make and the player to stumble upon, skyrim had a lot of this)
2. Clothing. This is a massive area that drago was going to help with. The clothing system was a specialised one, so if this is more your area please talk to dragomir about how we wish to go about this.
For the record, clothing, creatures and characters are being pushed back till Jan/Feb.

Yay.
I don't think they should be added wherever, whenever, however.. there are few places they would likely be, and many places they wouldn't. The one place that comes to mind, but sort of breaks from the vanilla Morrowind way, would be in Divayth Fyr's Corprusarium. Some small divergent tunnel could house it in a cell and Divayth Fyr could make some small mention of it after gaining disposition, but only if a.) the Corprusarium hasn't already been finished and b.) Divayth Fyr's VA hasn't already done all his lines. That would at least establish a logical foothold for a Sload being in Morrowind.
Others could be added after core Skywind is finished, either by the development team or modders using the resources/assets Skywind put in place.
... if this is still a thing, anyway.
Whoah, another old thread back from the dead! Anyways, I really don't think implementing Sloads can be a priority right now, what with the mountains of texturing and VA work still ahead. It could be a nice little dessert for the fans after everything is done though...
Were there sloads in ES:3? no...well there is your answer, the closest NPC to a sload in Morrowind is that dwemer Yagram Bagarn, In a way he does resemble one.
Accidently Posted twice...my bad
A Sload would bring a ton of attention to this mod because so many people want to see one, hence this long thread. But the amount of work to get it in-game doesn't justify it being done before all the core game assets are complete. Not much point in bringing attention to a mod that never gets finished. I'm all for a Sload. Right after we are done with Skywind... and the Bloodmoon and Tribunal expansions.
I think they could fit in well with morrowind but its adding more than we should to the game, but if you're going to make a mod, I have to say I would give it a try.
Welp, there's one good reason why NOT to think about Sloads yet, and that is - the ending of Morrowind as it was in the original game is really disappointing. You run around the whole island uniting all the people, it all builds up to some great battle... Which never happens. You have to go solo, and all the uniting serves really no purpose. But I'm afraid neither MQ improvement, nor Sloads have any chances of actually happening (or at least not in the next 1 - 2 years probably), because recreating the base game itself is a gigantic task.
