Edit: at the bottom of this post I've included the names of the few Khajiit merchants in-game if you would like to use their first names instead of "khajiit". Obviously this means I don't need Khajiit lines for professions that are not listed. Last thing, I need one line for "creeper" and the "mudcrab merchant". You can use their normal dialogue found on the uesp as reference.
Hello everyone! It seems we are in need of responses for merchants when they go to show you their inventory. Currently the stock line is "Take a look." but this gets boring very quickly. Please post any suggestions below. I will only take the best suggestions and may modify them slightly to fit the game (so don't feel heartbroken if your lines don't make it in please!).
The suggestions should be occupation specific, as that is how I'm assigning the conditions. The only exception to this is that Khajiit and Argonians will need their own specific lines so feel free to write a few for them (these ones do not have to be occupation specific but could be). They should refer to themselves as "this one" for Argonians and "khajiit" for Khajiits
E.G. "Khajiit has many fine clothes for you!"
Thanks everyone, here's the list of occupations I'm looking to fill:
trader
alchemist
healer
publican
clothier
smith
enchanter
pawnbroker
thief
apothecary
vampire
priest
wise woman
bookseller
Khajiit names/profession: Ajira/alchemist Baissa/trader Chirranirr/thief J'Rasha/healer Jobasha/bookseller Ra'Virr/trader Sugar-Lips Habasi/thief
Wise Women/Bookseller: You
Wise Women/Bookseller/Savant: You seek knowledge, i seek coin.

Don't Argonians usually use personal pronouns just like everyone else? Although they occasionally lap into plural.

Argonians are very inconsistent in Morrowind (as are, to a lesser extent, the Khajiit). We're basing their phonetics off of the spoken dialog in the game, where they refer to themselves as "this one" and others as "it" or "those ones."

Just a reminder that Khajit prefer to use their names if they are free.
So a Khajiit in slavery would say 'Khajiit has many fine clothes to sell' or whatever. On the other hand, a free Khajiit (as most traders are) would say '(their name here) has many fine clothes to sell.'
For booksellers:
For booksellers:
“A good book won't give up all of it's secrets at once.”
"Knowledge is power."
"Ah, a fellow scholar!" or "Welcome fellow scholar!"
"Seeking enlightenment and wisdom? I have just what you need."

Names can't really be used in this case, since these lines are supposed to be generics for any appropriate vendor, regardless of characterization.

There are only seven Khajiit merchants in the game, so I don't think it would be too difficult to just sub their names in where appropriate.
Anyway, here are some suggestions.

my idea of some lines (regular merchant:lets see if we can strike a deal)(mage/alchemist merchant:so you wish to buy some of my spells/potions)(smith merchant:you won't find a better deal anywhere else) that all i got for now
I cringed at first when I saw
I cringed at first when I saw aurabelle's comment and was more inclined to support twentyengine runner's pov. Then I counted them. Names are totally fine for Khajiits it isn't a big headache to implement such a few number.

They are mostly "we" in spoken dialogue. "We are not fangless, friend". "Blessed we are". "We greet you as a friend, welcome". "You bother us. Do not waste our time". They rarely refer to themselves in third person, although they do often use "it" for other people. That's my observations, at least.
I think allowing Khajiit
I think allowing Khajiit traders use their names is a good idea, since they're the most memorable traders anyway (Ra'virr, Jo'basha).

This may be true of the later games, but trust me, from working on this dialogue for the last 10 months, "this one" is very common (404 references in total). referring to the player as "it" also occurs but I haven't been able to maintain absolute uniformity, Just too many lines everyone shares would have to be rewritten completely.
Edit:
here's a quick sample of Argonian greetings when they really like you:
Sunned and warm, marshsister.
Sunned and warm, marshbrother.
A visitor!
We greet you as a friend, welcome.
Welcome traveller. Speak freely.
Such fine company. One would be wise to listen.
Please, go ahead. Speak.
Greetings, Muthersera.
The traveller seeks answers?
It wants something. What does it ask?
Ours is to ask, what does this visitor want?
Share your thoughts, friend.
Your bidding, Muthsera?
Your crimes are known to us.
You make a name for yourself, criminal.
There's a lore reason behind
There's a lore reason behind Argonians referring to themselves in plural. They constantly feel a mental, magical connection with the Hist (both trees and the Argonians, as mentally they're one and the same thing), a hivemind of sorts. They do see themselves as a separate being, but also they are a part of a greater mass. That's why when they talk to you, they will often say that "We greet you".

The words "this one" don't occur once in this list. Simple "one" occurs once and seems to be the usual English non-personal "one". On the contrary, "we" and "us" are quite common. Are you sure you aren't confusing the two types of beastfolk? "This one" is very common in Khajiitspeak.
Lonewolf, don't try to argue
Lonewolf, don't try to argue this, the reality is what I say is true. By quite common you mean a grand total of three pronouns using "we" and "us" in a small 15 lines subsection of the grander script then I think you're jumping to conclusions mighty quickly. "This one" isn't commonly found in greetings but it does occur, this is simply how bethesda wrote it but in other areas of the script it dwarfs instances of the first person plural. As I've said, 404 references of "this one" from a quick find all search of the scripts. I've posted the greetings as a simple reference for people unfamiliar with argonian speech because it was what I was looking at the moment, not to argue the reality of the situation. However using "we" and "us" is ok as well, but "this one" overall is far more common. Since I feel I need to post an example to put this to rest here is a typical full greeting list for an argonian, (remember greetings are just a subsection of a script and where "we" and "us" is most common to be found, below they're about a 50/50 ratio):
Hiss!
Cover yourself. No one wants to see that.
You honor this one. Please, speak.
Blessed we are.
Sunned and warm, marshsister.
It wants something. What does it ask?
Share your thoughts, friend.
Your crimes are known to us.
You make a name for yourself, criminal.
Tidings, Bosmer.
Tidings, Breton.
Tidings, Dunmer.
What do you ask of me?
Terrible blight.
Sniff. This scent is new.
It is dressed strangely. Is this to improve taste?
Death is upon you.
You look unwell.
You bring danger with you. We should not talk.
Must you make a pest of yourself?
Hiss!
You hardly seem worth the trouble, criminal.
You dress like a primitive.
This one is sickly, unclean.
Go suffer somewhere else.
Humph.
I've been told to keep "this one" strictly to argonian and strike it from Khajiit records to make the two races more defined which is what has happened.
That can probably be
That can probably be explained by different levels of how well they know the Imperial language. "We" and "this one" might be grammatical remnants from Jel, but more educated Argonians would speak more properly. I hope if any Argonian dialogue was rewritten this was taken into account :P
Argonian speech was discussed
Argonian speech was discussed a lot during the idle banter project. In the end, everyone was instructed to use "this one," "it," etc. As far as I know, no one ever made distinctions between education level, Imperial influence, or anything else when it came to this usage (I considered having Huleeya and Nine-Toes speak more like Imperials, but never went with it). Having not seen the rewritten vanilla dialogue, I have no idea whether or not there are major conflicts.
In terms of Argonian/Khajiit
In terms of Argonian/Khajiit dialogue I've been going with making sure no "I" statements make it through. In terms of Argonians, they will switch in between "we" "us" and "this one", the original lines were varied like this as well plus having a lot of lore unfriendly statements available to Khajiits and Argonians so I've successfully cut down any anomalies outside of "we, us, this one". I wasn't given specific instructions as to how to explain the different usage of tenses and was told what twentyenginerunner is talking about. Personally, I just chalk it up to politeness based on the given sentence or emphasis on the player: use "we, us" when addressing player politely. "this one" when the focus is meant to be on the argonian in question, or he/she wants to draw focus to oneself. It can be subjective because it could be with the mood the argonian is in at the time. Its inconsistent but tolerable.
so in short, "we" and "us" are probably good to be used in showing wares but "this one" is totally fine as well, especially if the Argonian is trying to show something more discreet (thief wares), totally subjective though.
Edit: Sorry if I jumped on you a bit Wolf, you made a good point about "we" and "us", as I think it would fit this instance, however everyone has historically been instructed to use "this one" with new content.
"As I've said, 404 references
"As I've said, 404 references of "this one" from a quick find all search of the scripts."
All Argonian scripts or all original scripts overall? Because I've got a suspicion that the grand majority of these 404 references are from Khajiit speak. In fact, there's only one reference to "this one" (and one "it") in your greetings list, and both refer to the player, not to the speaker. "This one" in sense of "I" is strongly associated with the cat-people for me.
Not sure about entirely eliminating the world "I", since in all TES games Argonians also use it prominently, but I understand the reasoning. Dragomir's suggestion of varying the accentisms with the probable education/assimilation level sounds like a good idea, at least, in the future stages of this project. The Argonians are not the Borg, after all.
(Oh, and don't take my posts as said in a hostile manner, tone is hard to understand on the Internet).
As I said previously,
As I said previously, instances of Khajiit's saying "this one" have largely been altered as was instructed to happen to make the two races stand out from each other a bit more. There may still be the rare case, but from the scripts I've been testing there have been no instances of it for Khajiits anymore. For a non-descript male argonian I got 18 lines with "this one" out of 190 lines for the character so I expect them to 95% or more of the time to be argonian instances. (also I believe their were two instances of "this one" and two instance of "it" in the "greetings", I'd check again. As I said greetings, because of how beth wrote them, aren't where you'll commonly find "this one" in the scripts")
In terms of working out a plan for when to use "this one" vs "we" or "us" we already had people run through the lines and did what they thought was appropriate. The project cannot wait a couple more months for this to be worked on before exporting scripts so we'll have to live with the natural ambiguity which morrowind came with in this instance. I'd chalk using "I" or argonians and khajiits saying "this one" in cyrodiil as an "imperialization", if you will, of their speech. In a perfect world all lore would make sense...
Actually, if you think about
Actually, if you think about it, a little weirdness or inconsistency is more realistic than a race where every member acts exactly the same.
