I can make an ashlander

I can make an ashlander version for a more tribal feel.

Edit:

Actually I'm going to edit the same concept to make it on the floor, your post gave me a good idea, I'll post the new concept once I get around to it.

(No subject)

The resin is heated at the small kiln for the mixture to be prepared, and then hardens when cooled and dried.

It would be nice if the

It would be nice if the alchemy system didnt use the reicpes that skyrim had, and instead was focused on mixing and matching effects rather than playing a guessing game where you eat the ingredients.

Maybe it would be good to still find out what ingredients have what effects, but to mix and match said effects and create unique potions should be a must.

Hi, just a suggestion

Hi, just a suggestion regarding the daedric and dwemer armor crafting. Take it or leave it. :) Perharps, for the dwemer, since only they know of the crafting secrets, Yagrum has saved ancient dwemer texts that he will give you in exchange for a favor (whatever a corprus-ridden dwemer might possibly want...). Only then and with the dwemer smithing perk could you smith it, and it could still be slightly less powerful than actual found dwemer armor.

For the daedric, i too fondly remember the satisfaction of finally getting one of the morrowind daedric armor pieces and agree that those pieces should remain unique. However, similar to the way skyrim's daedric armor is just kinda enhanced ebony armor, there could potentially be a slightly altered version of the skywind ebony armor, with some glowing bits maybe, that could be craftable (as perhaps "daedric ebony" armor) in a similar fashion as it was could have been in skyrim using a daedra heart, soul gem and dwemer dynamo thingy (or some other recipe). "Pieces of Ebony armor can also be used at the Atronach Forge in the Midden to craft pieces of Daedric armor." Of course that would require some sort of Atronach Forge type crafting station be added to skywind and I don't want to increase the work load, but you could just use the skyrim one and put in a mages guild, telvanni tower or some other hard to find location. Like with the dwemer armor, this craftable daedric armor should be less powerful than the unique morrowind ones.

How will the player boil

How will the player boil netch leather? perhaps at tanning racks there will be a small fire and pot as part of the rack model? and netch leather will be "crafted" as hide is turned to leather?

What I had in mind with

What I had in mind with boiled netch is that it would be boiled not in water, but in Kwama wax, just so that we make it a bit more interesting. In history boiling beeswax was used in the process of making cuir bouilli to make it even harder than when boiled in water. I guess it could be done at the resinworking station.

Not sure if this thread is

Not sure if this thread is still active but...

I thought that having NPC's craft armour for you would be a great idea for Skywind. It would obviously have to be balanced, so no one would craft daedric, and would be very expensive to craft. Also certain armours would be only available after certain quests.

This was inspired by the mod by SkylineR390 on Skyrim Nexus:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51024/?

(I understand this uses SKSE so might be difficult to code)

I liked the mod in Skyrim as it allowed my snobbish battlemage not to get her hands dirty.

Could be expanded into enchanting and tailoring.

I hope that crafting isn't

I hope that crafting isn't too intrusive. It would be best to only put crafting stations in the big cities like Balmora, Vivec and Sadrith Mora. Leather tanning stations could obviously be located at even the smallest villages and Ashlander camps, and Smelters could be found near Ebony mines for example.

This would force the player to visit these town hubs to actually craft weapons/armor.

As for Daedric armor/weapons, I would suggest not having these craftable at all. As for Ebony and Dwemer materials, I would put these at the master level. Maybe even tie them to a quest to be able to learn to craft them?

I think the biggest difference between Skywind/Skyrim crafting should be the fact that you won't be able to craft every single piece of armor/weapon, certainly not in every small settlement and certainly not so easily for the high end gear.

It would be best to focus on expanding this skill to create low to medium quality materials from more basic things like leather and iron. And to make the shift to high quality materials like Ebony/Dwemer more involving and almost prohibitive. Rare sets like Daedric should simply not be within the player's grasp.

As for tempering, I think a system where you can only temper items once for a set amount (like 10% of base stat instead of basing it on variable player stats) would be preferable over tempering the same item half a dozen times. Also, I would allow it only for some sets.

What do you guys think?

Personally I would love to see a blog post about Skywind crafting :)
