A couple questions about the project

Hi there,

New poster but long time stalker of these projects, I just have a couple questions about the project.

First and foremost though I would like to offer my services for the project. Now I'm in no way an experience modder however there are a few technical ways I could possibly lend a hand.

Concept art: While I can certainly say I am not up to the level of many of the artists here I am fairly decent with things such as city layouts and building designs, however as this is a direct port I imagine this will not be too helpful for a while.

Texture editing: I've been doing texture edits for several different games before so I am fairly experienced. Brand new textures I am slightly less experienced with however I could get the hang of it after some practice.

General bits and bobs: I've noticed that with big projects such as this there are often a lot of smaller mundane tasks that need to be done. I'm your guy for this, if you need small, boring but technically simple jobs doing I am more than happy to do them for you.

While I won't be able to be active until december I will have a good month and a bit that I can dedicate solely to this and so, especially if I am doing the smaller tasks, I could most likely get a decent chunk of work done for you guys should you decide to take me on.

So hope I can be of service :)

Moving on from this I was wondering what your view was on mods? The resource you have produced merely by porting the oblivion landmass with cities into the skyrim world has opened the door to a huge amount of modding potential. I myself have always wanted to create a mod that takes place in the imperial city however have never possessed the modelling skills to recreate the location myself. Would there be any chance that the current cities would be opened up as a resource for other mods (of course crediting the renewal project)? If nothing else it would certainly bring more attention to the project. That being said of course I would understand if you would rather keep this work that you have all done to this project and you would have every right to considering how much work has clearly gone into it.

Anyway look forward to hearing back,

Ben42

You can't use this as a

You can't use this as a resource (embedding and distributing) since all content is ported from Oblivion and belongs to Bethesda. However you can create mods for Skyblivion, but each user will need to install Skyblivion himself, and that involves owning original Oblivion.

Sorry I meant more about

Sorry I meant more about using the landmass and existing models layout guidelines for recreating areas with new assets. I realize it was probably misleading with the mention of my lack of modeling skill

You can create mods for lets

You can create mods for lets say Dragonborn using landmass and assets from it, Skyblivion is no different.

I think I get you now,

I think I get you now, essentially because it uses the oblivion landmass on the skyrim engine it would be, for all intents and purposes, a mod for both skyrim and oblivion and so legally you couldn't distribute it to people who hadn't already bought both games.
