OBSE and Ely's silent Voice problem

Submitted by davyou5 on

While the Morrowblivion mod that you are all working on is really Awesome! I am having a bit of trouble with Ely's Silent voice:(. .

Talking to any NPC, the dialoge subtitles still scroll fast. . Trying to read the subtitles in 1 second is really pain. .

And before anyone asks, I did read the installation instructions and installed the files into thier appropriate places. . I double Checked and Triple checked to make sure. I also downloaded and installed the current release for OBSE. . Still the silent subtitles scroll fast when they are supposed to scroll through in about 8 seconds the read me says. .

So does anyone know the fix to this problem?

You have to open your game trough OBSE loader, it's in your installed Oblivion directory, if you managed to install it correctly.

I have the problem as well although I am using the obse version (less esp's too deal with you see) and it still scrolls too fast.

and to be clear, yes I launch from obse

I had this problem as well earlier in the year and finally figured out I had been doing something wrong (wanting to say in the installation process)...will see if I can dig up my notes on it...for all that there may still be an archive of that thread on here somewhere(?)

While trying to describe the problem I did forget to mention that yes I am using the OBSE loader that was also placed in the Oblivion file folder as instructed by the Readme along with the other files included as stated within the Readme.

The Point I was trying to make clear is that I did read and install the files from Both OBSE and Ely's Silent voice as it was state within the Readme's, since the problem does not seem to be fixed even updating OBSE then one or the other Installation instructions is incorrect or is not stated very clear for the rest of us not so tech people. Ether way I did put every file in every directory as stated by the Readme's of both files, I double and triple checked the instructions to be sure that I was following what was stated in the Readme's. And I do load the game with the OBSE loader. . Still no go . .

Ely's Silent voice goes into the Data folder not into the Oblivion folder:

Data\OBSE\Plugins

and inside the plugins folder should be:
Elys_USV.dll
Elys_USV.lip
Elys_USV.mp3

If you have it that way then it should be working, but for really long dialogue you have to read quick.

If you don`t have an OBSE folder in the Data folder you just create it.

Thank you Ironman for pointing out something I didn't notice before:).

I did have the OBSE folder and inside with it the Plugins folder were the appropriate files are stored. . However the Plugins Folder was named "Plugin" . . I had to change the name of the folder to "Plugins" with an "s"  now it is working like a dream:). . You are also correct in saying that long dailogue you have to read fast, but at least I don't have to try to read it super fast! I now get the whole 8 seconds worth of dialogue, I am happy with that. Thanks again.

I am having a similar issue:

Game and mod work fine, but for the high speed text.

I have installed the three appropriate files under C:/games/steam/steamapps/common/oblivion/data/OBSE/Plugins, and nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for all the hard work, folks -

Xen

EDIT: I would add that I am launching from inside Bash, the Oblivion icon in the lower left corner.  I have removed and readded the three files from Nexus for Elys Voice at the above location, and still, I cannot read the text in-game.  Also, I noticed that the Plugins folder is "running" from Task Manager, which would indicate that something is right, even though clearly something is wrong.   Please help - I cannot read the text and its definitely interferring with the game.

I have read every word on this site regarding Elys Silent Voice, and every word available on the internet.  I have followed every instruction, and verified spelling and puncuation of every file and folder.  If I'm just being a dumbass, so be it.  But somebody please say something.

Thanks again.

EDIT:  OBSE was not running.  Three files must be directly under "oblivion" in the file path; obse_editor_1_2.dll, obse_steam_loader.dll, and obse_1_2_416.dll.  Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a method for verifying that OBSE is running, and so, I just kept trying things until something worked.  Somewhere it was indicated that you must move these three files from their installation folder.  So, now everything is right.  Still, how do you verify that OBSE is running?  And should it mention that step in discussions of installing EUSV, or any plugin for that matter?

EDIT:  The lips moving is creepy.

You can verify that OBSE is running by opening the console and typing any OBSE command,
e.g. "printc ok" (without quotes). If it prints out "ok" then OBSE is running, if it prints out something like "command printc was not found" then OBSE is not running.

If you don't like to use EUSV you may want to check out Protocolled Dialogs. This mod works with and without EUSV.

Ely's Silent will only work if you start you Game with OBSE,Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins is where ( Elys_USV ) Files are ment to Be.

Download and Use Steam Version of OBSE

To check whether or not OBSE is working ingame, type in console: set sleep to GetOBSEVersion
