I've updated the main post with you're asignment choice. When you get him done, upload him to mediafire and post a link here. Then I'll start adding it to a new esm release when we get more files collected. :D You can always upload a partially complete file so we can look at it, or you can ask questions about it etc.
I'll happily take up one or more voices. I'm not bad with voice acting, but I have Pro Tools and a nice little collection of microphones (I'm a studio engineer) and hardware to work with.
I'll pick some assignments soon and get them done!
Sweet! I didn't see any of your posts until just now, so I didn't see the recent activity!
KazXXX and Solin: Sounds sweet! Pick any name from the first post in this thread and let me know you're doing them. Then I'll tag it asigned to you. :D When you get done with a voice, upload it to mediafire (or whathave you) and then pm me the link or post it here. Good luck!
Gidz89: Great work man! These sites could help a lot! Can you:
1) Ask each site if they'ed be willing to let us use their files (we'll credit them for what they give us). We can't use files without permission.
2) Grab the files they let you use, use the C.S. to properly rename them / put them in the right folder, and then post them here? -That could end up being a fair deal of work for you (or anyone else that wants to help / do this if you don't want to), but it could provide us a LOT of files to work with and really get this voiced mod back on its feet. :D
If you want to do part of that, but not all of it, please do and let me know / give us what you can and hopefully someone else will be willing to finish the job. :D
I'm willing to do general Argonians, though in an annoying
moment of... annoying-ness... the moment I made that post, I caught a darned cold, so
my nose feels more like a leaky tap and I can't stop sniffing, which whilst an
amusing mental image, all the Argonians of Morrowind with a bout of the
sniffles, not what we're aiming for, no?
What I plan to do is wait for my nostrils to clear up enough
that I can actually do such essential things as being able to breathe; then I
plan to record my Argonian audition by way of reading a number of lines given
to me by Nine-Toes. Just quoting a few topics, so that you people can all ogle
at how amazing (or pathetic) my Argonian impersonation is and you can say
whether I’m ideal for the role or not.
At least this way I don’t go quoting every line that any
Argonian ever uttered only to be told that my voice isn’t what you’re looking
for.
Mmmm... i have already tried to contact the authors of the voices but to no avail unfortunately i think because the mods are so old the modders arent active anymore which is a shame. Could they be used if we credit them do you think?
In terms of the CS i don't have a clue i'm afraid, i'm just starting out in Oblivion modding so am a total noob when it comes to things like this.
Hmmm. I'd say you'll want to ask Dave B about the credits stuff.
Well if you're up for figuring out the cs, it's a free download and the first post in this thread should be enough to get it started, but if you're not up for that, I can understand that too. :D
Yeah i'll aks Dave seems a good place to start. :)
It's not that i don't want to use the CS, it's just it's really buggy for me for some reason and crashes a lot which really irritates me, it is my pc specs i believe because i can only run Oblivion on Medium and Morroblivion can be a very laggy experience for me at times; someone with a much better rig would be better suited to this. I am saving up for a new rig but it will take me a while the one i want is like £3000 so im stuck with the crappy one for now :(
I hear you with the CK. I'd try to help but I have no idea how. I'd like better rig myself.
Yeah, ask Dave about Credits; that's the place to start, then maybe talking to SB you might be able to find a way to rename files without using the CK at all. SB works with generated dialogue, and so he may be able to give you a sheet that would tell you what to name the files. ;)
Get the feeling it's not as good as I used to be, but then maybe it's the whole sounding different when hearing it coming from a source other than your own gob. I'll leave it to you fine people to judge. I'm my own harshest critic, and I know I need to practice it for a while before recording in future.
Even if you say no, I'll try out for a different role.
Haha, y'know, I think that's the first time that anyone has actually called me manly and not something like 'oi, scrawny git!'... I like it, now to let it go to my head and become a complete ass about it, BWAHAHAHA! Or I can just be myself, and humbly accept the praise.
Hmm, I ask these questions three:
1) Any particular timeframe, or do I get to spend my own dear sweet time being an anal perfectionist?
2) Do you want each topic as I record them, or big ol' zip files loaded with them? **Edit** Never mind this question. Re-read the first post and noted the Dummies Guide to Inserting Voices. I'll start playing around with that once I recorded some voicework.
and lastly
3) Is there any quick easy way to get all of the lines that every Argonian actually speaks, or am I going to have to go through and manually write out each line and then cross reference that I haven't already done that line from an NPC way back before?
The third question is the one I'm most interested in an answer to at the moment, as sifting through the Construction Set or playing the game and screencaping every conversation with every Argonian has the possibility of me missing a few.
And this is the part where the answer is something painfully obvious/already written and yet constantly missed by me and I feel the fool.
Oh, and I think it's fair to say that female Argonians might be beyond my power. I'll give them a try after I finish with the males, but my few experiments *cough*muckingaround*cough* haven't left me feeling I can manage the feminine tone to the Argonian voice.
**Edit**
A forth question: Any words or terms that you have a specific pronounciation for? I assumed that Caius' is pronounced like the Romans did, as 'Keys', but a friend always figured it was 'Kay-us'.
3) Is there any quick easy way to get all of the lines that every Argonian actually speaks, or am I going to have to go through and manually write out each line and then cross reference that I haven't already done that line from an NPC way back before?

YES, there is a way, so let me show it to you:
1. Startup the Con-Set 2. Load Morrowind_ob.ESM 3. Open tab [ Character ] 4. Select the option [ Export Dialogue ] 5. Press [ YES ]
If you manage to extract a complete export file, please feel free to share it with me !
1) Take all the time you need, we're not exactly racing forward, so basically take as much time as you like. Just be sure to upload whatever you have before you lose motivation.
2) Big files please!
3) Refer to Sot for that. I also think you can use the CS to bring up dialogue and then sort lines by RACE, so you could just go down the lines, if you're planning on doing all the argonians. If you're thinking more along the lines of doing the common lines first, then you may have to do a bit of poking around as to how you'd sort that all out. I'm not quite sure.
-We have tons of male argonian needs, so if the female experiments are... less than positve, I'd say you should just invest in the males until their done. That should give us a lot to work with!
4) Prononunciation is tough. I have two things of advice for that.
First, use the Unoficiol Elder Scrolls Wiki. The site is a gem, and if you can find pronunciation anywhere, it'd be there. Otherwise, do what seems best for yourself, and say it as if you KNOW you're pronouncing it right. Confidence does wonders, it's been selling household vacuums for years. ;)
Hi, I want to try to make some voices. I think I could try with the Khajiit or Nord or Orc ones (since I think that more "noble" races are reserved to those with good english accent :)). I could also try the voices that shoud be sound crazy, I like to make crazy voices. I can pronounce Mjoll The Lioness's accent without problem (Skyrim NPC, there's also other NPC's in Skyrim voiced with the same accent) since my native language Serbian uses the same accent.
I am interested in voicing the Male Orcs in this game. Here is my audition, please let me know if you can think there is room for improvement and I will get to work on those improvements straight away.
If you feel this voice would suite a different race better, just say and I will put another audition forwards for that race, with some lines from them.
Dude, you have the gravel of a dark elf! That's super hard to do! If you want to do an Orc, you can, but Dunmer are very hard to do, and so if you'd be willing, that would be sweet! (But, if Orcs are your passion, go for that too!)
It's up to you, whatever you want to do, just check the first post and claim a character or a races 'standared shared' lines. But, if you're willing too, I'd love it if you did a Dunmer character or the race!
EDIT: First post updated to fix a broken picture link and assign Argonians to Solin. :D
Obviously, one thing that voiced dialogue can't do is add player-name to dialogue, and I've already told myself that where it uses the player's name, I'll either ignore the name, or replace it with something like 'you' or 'stranger' or something apropriate for required disposition that whatever greeting/topic has.
However, I've noticed that other things have a similar habit, such as certain generic dialogue having them say their name, and then there's player-faction/rank. Part of me is half tempted to just brush over such in the same way that the player-name is, but the more dedicated part of me is musing that it would be proper to do things, well, properly, but must ask whether there is actually a way to set it so each character's generic dialogue can be slightly different when voiced?
Yes, this is my absolute useless-ness as scripting/construction set-ing/anything-involving-anything-more-complex-than-breathing speaking.
It would be my luck that I go the high road only to find out that the easy road was the right road.
Wow, thanks for that. My first time trying anything like this out, so I really appreciate your opinion. I will see if I can find some general Dunmer lines as well as some Dunmer Character lines and will record them to see what you think.
Solin raises a point, what do we do once it comes to names of the player character?
Cool. It's exciting for me to see you guys working on this thread. :D
Solin, that's a great point. To make lines that are unique to player's rank etc would be a bit tricky. You'd have to record a different dialogue line for each faction, and then we'd have to use the cs to have each line have it's own conditions based on that faction.
I'm thinking it's overall wiser to just do as you're saying and say "you" or "Stranger" or "Foreigner" or something. Just because that could otherwise get super super complicated. Then, later we always have the opportunity to revise. Unless someone volunteers to do that in the CS and send me an esp.
I can probably help out with some of the voices, I have an interface device in my closet that records pretty decent quality. I'll see if I can get an audition file uploaded on here soon, I'm not sure what race my voice might match!
first of all you guys (and gals) are doing a GREAT JOB this mod really will complete Morrowind. that being said I would love to do a voice but I have no idea which to do. Does anyone have like a adution sheet I can read from or something and a mediator point me in the right direction? More importantly my girlfriend loves Morrowind and is willing to do some much needed female voices so as soon as I get some direction ill start recording!
P.S. if you guys need help with anything I have A LOT of free time
As a fan of morrowind, I'd love to give my voice to a couple NPCs, so if you need help, i'd love to help.
I have audacity, already have made voice recordings for other reasons, I have a decent mic (or rather, I have 3 of them ^^)
I'm a dude.
I'm rather young (18 yo), so my voice wouldn't fit for aged npcs.
And more importantly, I'm french. I do speak english quite well, but I still have an accent, so my voice wouldn't fit most npcs.
Maybe you'd want to chat a bit on skype or something, to hear my voice for yourself. Just add me, my nickname is xyquemx.
I also have tons of free time, as I'm, and will be for 2 more month, in summer vacation.
Just to remind people that I DO in fact exist, that I haven't dropped off of the edge of the world, or any such thing. I AM still recording the voices, but real life has a nasty habit of becoming a bit of a tyrant with my time (no Mistriss Real Life, I wasn't talking bad about you!) so I'm not as far along as I'd have preferred, given the amount of time since I signed on board, but I WILL get it done and sent to you, even if I have to do it from my death bed.
...Here's hoping it won't go THAT far, I want to be able to enjoy the final product for myself afterwards as well, afterall.
Awww, I wanna see some more activity in this project! Voices would make the game so much more immersive. I may try the programs out a bit later, and see if I can actually voice some of the npcs.
I tend to have a HUGE phobia of hearing my own voice(I think some people are like that) but I'll deal with it for the project!
I like to attempt to voice act to. I am studying to go into communication and journalism and doing voice work would be good practice for me. What is the format that you guys need for auditions and stuff. I have a voice file for a canceled fallout mod that might work as a voice template.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't really need to audition. We are in extreme need of voice actors, with no shortage of NPCs that need to be audio. Just pick one that you think you would be good at, post what you are doing, and then follow all of the steps in the first post and upload your completed work.
Perhaps its time the few of you working so hard on this mod, make a few accomodations to make it easier for us all to help out? I don't know how to use the construction kit/set of any TES game, and I really dont on installing all of morroblivion just to help, that said, I would be will to help no problem.
First thing, I was origionally thinking Altmer, then after checking every single character I realized there are no male altmers required in the list. I see that I could do general, but thing is, whats the point? If there are no altmer we need to speak to for the main game, why should we even bother with general? Shouldn't we just skip that for now? I think our main goal is to get the main quest done right?
Second thing, Dunmers
So yes they have an amazing voice naturally in morrowind, but the thing is, 99% of the characters are dunmer, and its a hard fucking voice to pull off. For the sake of ever getting this done, perhaps more of us need to do dunmer voices, wether we sound like the origional dunmer or not? Which is more realistic, everyone in a race having their own unique voice or them all sounding the same? I say we all just start getting characters done, do our best, and we agree, that in time, if someone offers to do our characters, and do a better job than us, were willing to let our voice files be wiped from morroblibion and let someone better suited do them? I think it would be great help to the game, and garner more attention, to be able to boast "main quest fully voice acted!" than to boast "15 percent of main quest fully voice acted, but its a hell of a job!" besided like I said, if in three years john says, man I do a better Cossades, he can post his submission, next to that of the origonal author, and people here in the forum can vote on which to go with?
Lastly, and I know this has been a long post but bear with me, I the moment I dont have morrowind, the expansions, or oblivio installed, althought I might download them someday, but I love whats being done here and I want to help. We need to get work done, and if some of you pro's would be willing to get the lines, and post them for individual characters, that way non-modders can look at the lines and try them out, i guarentee you will see at least 45% more volenteers, I tokk one look at what all id have to download and do in order to help, and said "fuck man, that'd take hours and hours just downloading everything and trying to find some of the files."
So if anyone will get me all the altmer generic texts, Ill record a few and send them in and let you guys decide if you want me to do it all, and if so, I will do it all.
OR, and I actually think this is more important, pick dunmer male, I dont care who, someone without too many lines as a test, and im serious itd be awesome if you picked one for me, been too long since I played to remember who has a lot of text and who doesnt, and send me their lines, I'll submit that. Fuck, maybe do both.
btw, if cursing isn't allowed, I apologize, please dont block me without giving me a chance to just edit the post first.
and no, im not downloading and setting everything up to run morrowblivion at this time, so if no one is will to help me get the lines and dialogue, ill just not do it, but i really think it would be in this mods interest to to post the dialoge for all characters were working on now, in a sepparate massive thread. I really think, despite a bit of work to get it, it would really pay off in the end.
Are the Dunmer for Skywind going to be the old gravely voiced ones? If so I would like to lend my Voice Acting skills to this project. Here are some samples...
Currently all I have to work with as far as audio recording goes is a web camera. It is around $100 and produces very good audio for a web cam.
This is a recording I have done with it (sorry for the radicalism of the song for anybody who is offended. It is the only audio recording I have online with this camera in which I don't have a clothes pin on my nose which messes up that video as an audio sampling).
Would that quality of audio meet the standard for participating in this project? The first thing I thought when getting Morroblivion is that it should be voice acted and so I really would like to participate, but, again, not sure if my web cam is good enough.
If somebody involved could let me know if the audio quality is good enough or not I would greatly appreciate it.
I'd like to give a shot Yagrum. I don't think my voice suits Dunmer males really well, but I could give a shot at him. I've been listening to the three recorded voices attributed to him in the construction set, and I believe I can imitate that voice pretty well. I'll record a few sample dialogue files for him and send them over, using a couple variations (perhaps some that are different from the recorded voices attributed to him, which weren't used in Morrowind). If you like it, I'll work on the rest of the files. I won't be offended if you don't like it: I'm not a voice actor, so feel free to criticize / reject. I have friends that are good voice actors, and I have plans to ask them to coach me a bit. I only like giving in quality work :P
He has a pretty heavy lisp. It's understandable, but I could understand some people not liking it. For those that have heard it, should I stick with the original voice or try something different?
Also, how would you pronounce Lord Fyr? Is it Fire / Fear / Fur? I was leaning towards the first one.
Also, since he is a major character, I'll understand if you want a more experienced Yagrum. I'm pretty sure I can enlist the help of one of my friends who IS experienced if that's preferable. I have been told I have talent, but that's only with certain voices.
Go for it! I don't know who's running shit here, but we definitely need voiced dialog! Also, the voiced dialog would be used for Morroblivion and Skywind.
@pavio JSUK Yagrum Bagarn is a Dwemer, not a Dunmer ;)
I believe Divayth Fyr would be pronounced div-ayf-fur, and i reckon you should record however you should feel it should sound and see what people think. :)
I have updated the first post in this thread - cleaned up the text, added some more information and tutorials.
I have also split out the entire discussion on Computer-Generated Voiced Dialogue to its own thread. That actually took several hours, because all 112 posts had to be moved one at a time!
Daaang. Well good work Thermador, this was much needed!
Thank you!
I call Vivec.

Go for it!

I have audacity, already have made voice recordings for other reasons, I have a decent mic (or rather, I have 3 of them ^^) I'm a dude.
Where are all of the important people? I really want to get this going!!

Alright! Keep working and don't lose heart!
:D
Awww, I wanna see some more activity in this project! Voices would make the game so much more immersive. I may try the programs out a bit later, and see if I can actually voice some of the npcs.
I tend to have a HUGE phobia of hearing my own voice(I think some people are like that) but I'll deal with it for the project!
Hi there
I am very interested in voice acting, but an amateur and would really enjoy it to contribute to your work. :)
I am German but my command of English is quite well. I can send you a probe if you want to.
I would prefer the Breton but everything else is fine for me, too.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't really need to audition. We are in extreme need of voice actors, with no shortage of NPCs that need to be audio. Just pick one that you think you would be good at, post what you are doing, and then follow all of the steps in the first post and upload your completed work.
Well, there might be some hope to this project, according to this thread, there are quite a few people interested in making voice overs for the npcs.

Do I just pick a couple characters? Would I just follow the dialogue from Morrowind for the NPC?
I am also decently versed in the use of the Creation Kit if you guys need help in any other way.

If no one minds I will take Master Aryon and Sul Matuul.
Go for it! I don't know who's running shit here, but we definitely need voiced dialog! Also, the voiced dialog would be used for Morroblivion and Skywind.
Very Well, I will be using the original Dunmer voice as heard in Morrowind. :D
Time to boot up the old Morrowind CS and check out my lines.
Good to see this still in production. :D
@pavio JSUK Yagrum Bagarn is a Dwemer, not a Dunmer ;)
I believe Divayth Fyr would be pronounced div-ayf-fur, and i reckon you should record however you should feel it should sound and see what people think. :)
I always thought it was Div (like DIVination)- ayth (like fAITH) and Fyr (like Fire)
It's exciting to see so much activity on this thread!

Thanks everyone!
