We have already decided in the past that we would split up armors in much the same way as Morrowind. But what models exactly will we be splitting up? This thread is being created to get your opinions.
Mod Edit: Here is the new spreadsheet for Skywind armors.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoLsELbP3uHmdGd...
Edit: Okay, here is the first vote.

Did Vvardenfell Imports not have a really awesome Dark Brotherhood armour?
I'm honestly not sure. If you have something that you think would be better than what is on the list, find a picture, and then update the spreadsheet accordingly. Everyone can edit it, so I expect some good changes.
Hel Borne's Chitin armor [have voted].
Hel Bourne's is much more true to the original Morrowind Chitin Armor, and I feel most people want Skywind to look as close to the original as possible. I think that using Hel Bourne's armour would give the project a greater quality, as it shows people that we aren't just recycling Bethesda content, but we are using quality products produced within the modding community where appropriate.
Just my thoughts.
And apparently Natterforme is converting Hel Bourne's armor for Skyrim.

That's a cool find Mycorn, Thanks!
Okay guys, this vote is still way too close. 7 to 8? If I canceled my vote, it would be a tie. I'd say we at least need a margin of 2 or 3 before we can say the vote is final. So vote if you haven't already.
its difficult, i like none of them, i want something closer to the concept art:
chitin:

Bonemold:

Eloth, I think that first concept art is Morag Tong, which I agree is boss!
Some people were making some for Oblivion, but I'm not sure who, and I don't think it was ever released.

Oh but the dragonborn chitin armor looks so good! The heavy chitin looks even better!
Not sure about these screens, but check out 'Silgrad Tower' mod (version 4.0 I think). It has the mentioned Morag Tong armor (close to concept art) and a couple of other badass remakes of Morrowind armor\clothing.
i would agree with the dragonborn one, but it needs some cosmetic work
Hope upon hope that someone would also talk to Ghogiel and see if they can officially convert "Ghogiel's Bonemold Armour" to Skyrim. I know on Nexus there was one, but without Ghogiel's OK, it disappeared.
Concerning the Chitin armor... Hel Borne's, for me, has been canon. I have been using it in Oblivion as long as I can remember. It has a nice desert like/alien quality.
Just my 2-cents worth.
Well, we already have like 3 conversions of Ghogiel's armor, so that won't be a problem. :)
I think it would be a idea to make your own chitin for this game making it more like the original.
Hel Borne's one is more similar to the original, but I didn't particularly like Morrowind's chitin armour, without replacing the textures...
For anyone that's interested, here's a screenshot of the heavy version of Dragonborn's chitin armour. If Hel Borne's armour could be modified to have a less bright and more worn, ash-beaten texture, I'd vote for it. Compared to Hel Borne's armour, as it currently is, the Dragonborn version is more the sort of thing I'd be seen in while striding across the Ashlands...
I do agree that Hel Borne's armor is a bit light colored. Perhaps a compromise, where we darken up the texture to make it look a littel more ashy like the Dragonborn armor would work?
Hel Borne's Chitin Armor looks all shiny and overly detailed with lines everywhere. Even darkened, it would just feel too clean.
I much prefer the look of larger plate sections without lines all over them, with actual ridges where there is segmentation, and curves that are jagged. That's why I have to vote Dragonborn.
The reason I chose Dragonborn was of the same opinion as Nebbie's.
I agree Hel Bornes' was closer to that of the original, but it was missing segmentation between plates, and a dirty rugged look.
What I want for armors in SKYWIND: 1)Keep original Skyrim Chitin, Orcish, Ebony, Daedric, fur, and leather and any other armors from Skyrim that may apear in Morrowind Except... 2)Change Glass Armour to Morrowind version, Make Iron armor that has no fur(for ashlands), 3)Use the Skyrim Glass Armor model and put the Imperial Guard texture on it with a Skyrim Ebony Helmet Moded without the elf ear horn things etc. 4) Use the Steel armor from Oblivion and make it silver Armor. It looks closest to the Morrowind steel armor which I thaught was bad until I died against a Blighted Nix Hound. 5) Use the Dwemmer Armor from Oblivion (looks Sumerian) and boot the Rusty Megaman Banana armor from the Morrowind version. 6) Ordinator Armor.... Please don't ruin it! PLEASE! I don't care about the Elite Guard stuff, but please don't drop the ball or miss the mark on this! :)
We're not going to use any vanilla Oblivion armors for this for multiple reasons. We want to use different models than Skyrim because we want it to feel unique, and well put together. Besides, we already have VERY nice models for some of the armor you suggested we use the Skyrim version. Our Daedric, Indoril, and bonemold are particularly good.
Oh, and use a bit less language please :)
that Morag Tong model is cool. It might pass as a good armor set with the right textures.
Ok sorry about that. I'm glad you guys actually respond too... Anyway can I see the Bonemold, Daedric, and Indoril?! I liked the Dragonborn Bonemold. The only thing I couldn't quite agree with the Skyrim Daedric Armor was the Dragon look it had to it. However it was understandable because of the theme Skyrim has. I did not like the Oblivion armor either that much. I liked the Morrowind armor the Pauldrons were a little silly I thought.
So, my opinion on this is mixed.
I like the new Chitin design because it is more rugged. At the same time I think it's too rugged -- too grey for a Vvardenfell that is both ashy and lush, IMO. It works for Solstheim because of ... well ... snow, but not Vvardenfell.
I really like the old Chitin design too, but I agree its too clean. The plates are too perfectly aligned. The bright coloration is good. Brown is better than grey as something that sees both the foyadas and ashlands.
Perhaps something could be done to merge ideas from both? Maybe by taking the old Morrowind design - in this case the conversion - and making it a little more worn-looking and making the plates a little less perfectly aligned.
I think we need to save Hel Borne style of armor) It is more closer to Morrowind than Dragonborn armor. We just need to recreate this armor)
I believe that we create new Morrowind with old style ) I dont want to play in another game)
every elder scroll game got different armor and that should stay its like fashion whit time it chanses it make it uniek and not lazy so i would say dont use the same stuf that skyrim and dragonborn dlc got atleast chanse it a bit if u do bit

I added Morrowind artifact armor pieces to the spreadsheet in the op along with possible armour pieces from the modding community.
In Russian community we have the next results: 280 votes - CemKey armor, 348 votes - dragonborn armor.
But) One member create 1 pic which explain why we have different armors in different games. And I agree with him.
P.S. One more screen of dragonborn armor:
Hey, that makes sense Iniquity. So I guess it is decided then, we are using the Dragonborn chitin armor. But especially in light of what Iniquity has shown us, I would recommend a lighter retexture of it.
Also, I'd recommend everyone on the team to get Dragonborn soon after it comes out. We need to start using the resources from it.
O'k. I disagree with poll, but... Decision: we will use Dragonborn armor with light textures to the moment until we have another quality, but close to the original chitin armor. This decision does not prevent to create a separate CemKey set of armor that can be used as replacer.
Spreadsheet was edited.
Not a big issue [at least I hope not],but are we going to loose a big fan base by using a lot of DLC stuff.
Most people will have Skyrim installed, but will the majority have all of the DLC too.?
Well everyone will probably get the Dragonborn dlc, and by the time Skywind is fully done, Dragonborn will be a lot cheaper to the point where pretty much everyone will have it.
have we got a texture for the helm of oreyn bearclaw coz i found a good one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30069
are we going to split the Dragonborn chitin armor in multiple pieces like in morrowind? would be better.
Yes, just read the FAQ :)
Is there a strict policy regarding the implementation of armor variations?
Let me explain, people have opinions (obviously) on what their favorite design of a particular type of armor is. Lets take Chitin for example. We have Cemkey's (or Natt, not sure whose you all were planning on), we have Dragonborn's, and there's also Chitin in the Morrowind armor for Skyrim mod. What if they're all (or some) put in with certain variational names? That would allow for most people to be happy and it'll add some diversity. (I mean, you guys are already adding in 4E armor in a 3E game so lore shouldn't be a concern)
Also, was there a poll for Glass and Orcish? I wanted to make sure to voice my thoughts on those as well.
The Orcish set in the spreadsheet is too frankenstein in my opinion. The helmet is great, but the rest doesn't fit. I really liked what you guys had before, using the port from Oblivion with the helmet from the MAfS Orcish set.
I liked the ported glass armor that was in the earlier build much more than the glass set from the mod. The pauldrons from the MAfS Glass set are way too exaggerated, imo.
I know that Bonemold is a work in progress as you're still deciding on the DLC stuff.
Sorry if those opinions aren't warranted. I just figured I'd toss an idea out there that could potentially help.
Mithril armor:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19655
Looks cool, but I don't see why you're posting here. Morrowind had no mithril armor.
sorry not enough details, i think it looks like the morrowind steel armor what do you think?
yeah it kinda looks like morrowind steel armor, almost :)
Morrowind steel armour to me always looked like stereotypical gothic plate armour you'd expect to see in any medieval film.
I think that if there is a version of armor, weapons, etc. already available officially it should be used to cut down on the overall size of Skywind.
One problem with that.
When loading Dragonborn and Skywind at the same time in the Creation Kit, both Solstheim and Apochrypha are nothing more than empty land masses.
1. This can be solved by using stripped skyrim.esm
2. There is no reason to load dragonborn and skywind together in CK. Skywind.esm should not depend on Dragonborn.esm explicitly, and only use its assets implicitly. All the necessary records from dragonborn (STAT, TREE, etc.) must be copied to skywind as new.
How do I do that?
And is there any way to be able to load Skywind and Dragonborn together in the CK?

Before doing anything, backup your Skyrim.esm, for the love of god, backup your Skyrim.esm.

Download this, and put this into your data folder. If it's not named Skyrim.esm, name it Skyrim.esm.
Open the CK with the newly stripped down version of the Skyrim.esm, Dragonborn.esm, and Skywind.esm and it should work.
The reason you see ash when you open Dragonborn and Skywind is because of array errors. The CK cannot handle opening Skyrim.esm and Skywind.esm at the same time, and since Dragonborn.esm uses Skyrim.esm as a master, it'll open Skyrim.esm when you open Dragonborn.esm in the CK.
Also, remember this post?

Why are we using the Dragonborn Morag Tong armor? Is there just nothing better out there than a darker Chitin retex? Or are we actually using that by choice? lol...
I don't know if anyone has seen this but i like it its a good compromise http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32024
its good but a bit too low res :)
Hey guys, here's an idea:
was playing skyrim today, when i noticed my chitin armor was different. totally forgot i installed this mod a while ago:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=128214...(also to be found on the nexus)
Would this go more into the direction of keeping true to the morrowind design for you?
I know there is probably designing going on already, but maybe this can inspire you (or ask the mod author for using some resources)
cheers! (looking forward to skywind 1.0 ;) )
Wow, chitin armor is much better than original Dragonborn!
