These are my fruits of collaboration with Angrywoman(recipes) about 42

For concepts reasons food is divided on four separate groups (lower class, medium, upper and special) To show progression (look) I posted three images below:

poor, medium, rich

Lower Class Dishes

Nice, I like it. Lore friendly and creative. I'd also like to see some extravagant dishes, probably for rich gourmee's or Telvanni, based on actual bugs. Dunmer foods ought to be as crazy as their culture in general. And you forgot mudcrabs too, for lower class. Mudcrab boiled in its shell would be very popular in Bitter Coast. Ashlanders would definetly roast ash hoppers on sticks in their little camps, maybe with ash salts instead of normal salt. Some small ambient bugs that we're going to add are probably edible too - we could catch them the way bugs in Skyrim are caught. Only here it would be a viable source of food.

As for the cross on the bread - ASV runes would be way too complex to be drawn on every loaf. I suggest just a triangle, which is a sacred symbol to temple Dunmer.

Also, whenever I think of Dunmer cuisine, I can't help myself but remember THIS :D

and special one

From Redoran cooking secrets

1.Crab Meat and Scuttle

2 handfuls of scuttle
4 pinches of wickwheat
1 large kwama egg
the meat of one mudcrab (two portions)
1 handful of chopped bittergreen

Beat eggs, wickwheat, and scuttle in a large bowl. Slowly stir in crabmeat and bittergreen. Bake covered in a hot over for one half hour to one hour (when a knife comes out clean).

2.The Hound and Rat

1 pie crust
1 pound of ground meat (mixed rat and hound)
a hand and a half of cooked saltrice
1 handful of scuttle
1 small kwama egg
a pinch of ash salts

Cook the mixed meat in a pan over an open flame. When the meat begins to brown, add the saltrice. Stir for a few moments and add the scuttle and kwama egg. When the kwama egg is fully cooked and the scuttle has melted, pour from the pan into the pie crust. Sprinkle with ash salts and cover the pie crust. Bake for one quarter hour in a hot oven.

I like them. Quick suggestion to remove the gross hamburger photos from your post. I get what you're trying to suggest with them (low, mid, upper) but I feel like your concepts speak for themselves as is. Good Work.

@Dragomir

As for the cross on the bread - ASV runes would be way too complex to be drawn on every loaf. I suggest just a triangle, which is a sacred symbol to temple Dunmer.

I'd also like to see some extravagant dishes, probably for rich gourmee's or Telvanni, based on actual bugs. Dunmer foods ought to be as crazy as their culture in general.

I agree

Yeah I can do some updates. I agree with bugs. But it is quite hard to create recipes when u don't know what bugs we will have.

And you forgot mudcrabs too, for lower class.

Mudcrabs could be useful.

Ashlanders would definetly roast ash hoppers on sticks in their little camps, maybe with ash salts instead of normal salt

I didn't know that we will have ash hoppers (I thought this is Skyrim thing) bu ti could be done. But definitely not now cause I have too much other work to do.

@taerkalith

I wanted simply add a bit more information. Lower class could be quite gross. Charred meat, no so fresh ingredients etc. In upper everything looks like food from adverts (which actually is not real food), shiny almost ideal. I wanted to suggest that not only ingredients but quality means too. But this is only for this topic anyway.

-----------------------

Some thoughts

It would be cool to create annual cookery contest form side quest for quest Redoran cookbook which u could join too. It could be quite immersive. And add condition that u could win by baking sth with moonsugar.

Second thing is that u can somehow suggest in background if someone is corrupted by adding luxury food in her/his house.

Third thing is that we should have opportunity to rush moonshine (skooma, brandy etc.) by using alchemy set or other thing.

Everything here looks great, I'll be sure to incorporate what isn't in already into the crafting system, as well as some of the things I had planned for a while in regards to cooking. Something else that would be kind of interesting is house-specific recipes, like Redoran Cooking Secrets. I wrote a Hlaalu cookbook, and I was discussing the idea of Telvanni teas and brews that have a touch of alchemical/magical effects. For example, a Telvanni brew of Sujamma that 'brings a floating feeling of eased burdens' where if enough is drunk, it can cause the patron to slightly levitate above their seat.

A Hlaalu Cookbook I wrote a little while back Hlaalu Cooking

Volume I, Cooking with Kwama Eggs

Fadril Sethan, renowned Hlaalu Chef

Of the three major virtues of House Hlaalu, I hold the the virtue of compromise to be that which brings us prosperity. Unlike the more blindly traditional houses of Morrowind, House Hlaalu readily adopts foreign influence where it may benefit the house most. In terms of cooking, Hlaalu chefs are free to mix the “old ways” of Dunmeri cuisine with the finest ingredients and cooking methods from all over Tamriel. Here you will find Hlaalu recipes that fuse the Kwama of Morrowind with methods from High Rock and beyond, utilizing Hlaalu compromise that blends flavors from all over Tamriel into fine Dunmeri cuisine.

Kwama Quiche

Ingredients:

-One large Kwama egg (two smaller eggs may serve as a substitute)

-Saltrice (To be ground to a meal)

-Jug of water

-One tomato (Diced)

-Garlic

-Salt

Preparation:

Whisk eggs with the tomato and garlic in a large bowl, season with salt

In a pan, stir the saltrice meal with water to form a crust-dough

Bake dough until crust is a golden color

Pour the Kwama egg mixture into the pan over the crust, bake until center is firm

Kwama and Scuttle Quiche

Following the above Kwama Quiche recipe above until the crust is baked, evenly distribute scuttle over the crust before adding the egg mixture. Pour in the egg mixture and bake until center is firm.

Scrambled Kwama Eggs

Ingredients:

-One large or two small Kwama eggs

-Three and a half  Ounces milk

-salt

Preparation:

Beat the kwama egg in bowl, adding in milk and salt

Pour the egg mixture into a pan, cook while stirring gradually until eggs are set

Fried Kwama Eggs

Ingredients:

-One large or two small Kwama eggs

-Salt

-Water (Roughly a quarter ounce)

Preparation:

Crack the Kwama egg into pan, Add salt

Pour about a quarter ounce of water and cover pan for half a minute to steam

Cook until the white is set

Are you sure you're not a Michelin rated chef Lukkar? Great I like it. I know there are a few Skyrim modelers who are into their foods, maybe we can contact them for this little foodie project?

Daedra Heart doesn't sound very healthy...  or even safe for that matter!
One minute you're sitting down for a nice slice of pie, the next you're a pile of smoldering ash.
Not sure I could trust food made from demon parts.

@iceflame542

Nice, but for scrambled and fried kwama I will add some foreign ingredients too.

@GrumpyCat

Wait a while. I have to do some bugs dishes and some things which Drago mentioned

@JorgenGorgen

It should be decadent on first place. I was thinking even create argonian head as secret dish for telvanni, but it could be too lore unfriendly. We have got many cases in history that people eat sth only because it is rare and expensive.

Nicely done, lukkar, it was fun helping you :D

Small update, big res in attachment

For known reasons recipes are in attachments.

Now I have some directions for future modelers. With some exception for dishes like lower class: 3, 6, 14, 7, 8, 15, 16, 23  medium class: 2 and upper class 16, try to create separate assets, without plates to give freedom for level designers to create dishes compositions like in this link.

For example in upper class 5 u can separate four types candies but give them the same name

-------------------

In upper class I see possibility to play with food by creating buildings, tows or even portraits and etc.

Especially for lower class, less for medium try to keep regionalization

I will add some additional vessels propositions too in next post

------------------

Telvanni will get brews as ice mentioned in that way I don't point to include it in this concept. I changed Hlaalu recipes by adding apple and onion to dishes (foreign ingredients)

------------------

Thanks Angry ;)

23,24,25,26,27.... Different variations of mushrooms cups from Scumpunx

The mushrooms one could quite fit telvanni

It more and more looks like Codex Seraphinianus.

I've done small updates in vessels. I think in rock things we can get a bit more variety but it is choice up to you guys.

@alysander

I'm afraid that some concepts would be hard to implement but some plants from this book look interesting :P

I've done small update. It's a lot to do, so if 60% will be done it would be great. I added jellies and more mushrooms dishes. Small note, if you plan to do some cluttering, doing some placeholders for them could be useful (It could be even test for new ppl) Some of them will need plates, some don't. Even in MW we don't have levitating soup.

Yeah, I forget. Food in Skyrim was almost useless. So if in Skywind regenerating health would be much much slower. Every set of dishes could give certain advantages.

Poor class dishes (alchemy skill above 10)

- restore 1-2 point of health for 600s

Medium class dishes (alchemy skill above 30)

- restore 2-4 points of health for 600s

Upper class dishes (alchemy skill above 50)

- restore health 2-4 points health for 720s

- restore stamina 2-4 points for 720s

Secret cooking (hlaalu, telvanni, redoran) (alchemy skill above 70)

- restore health 3-5 points health for 720s

- restore stamina 3-5 points for 720s

- restore magica 2 point for 720s

No floating food in the Bethesda engine - breaking longstanding traditions!

> we don't have levitating soup
= i can suggest to use closed pots for it, but this will make soup invisible of course.

Now i want to eat fictional food.
That's like Subneural Ad's ability from Civilisation CTP.

dunmer sushi yes please

@Natterforme: Those portion sizes are so...European.^^

I have the same feeling about this. In my country working people for dinner have full plates of food. They have small pieces of meat and much potatoes for example. But it is cosmetic thing.

What about eggs fried on a stone? In older times people used to do this more frequently. I myself tried to do this and can say that it was quite tasty. All you need to do is to find a flat stone like this one:

Set a fire under the stone or put small flat rock into the fire and when it's hot enough u put an egg onto it. You can do the same with other things. For example people used to make boiled water like this. It just need to put few hot stones into vessel full of water and it was boiling! You can ask what about all this carbon on a stone? People waited until it rests on the bottom.

In my opinion it is quite good to look how survivalists make their food to get some inspirations for ashlanders way of living

@Velfrig

Nice idea, but I'm not sure if it would need new animations.

--------------------

One thing. If someone like to be creative and is linguistically gifted, some sophisticated names could be replaced by dunmer's counterparts (especially names from French, Italian etc.) Unfortunately my dunmeri is weak.

I wonder if there are birds in Skywind. Insect's eggs must be really different, if they would be so big, you would be able to cook them in ash of fire as you cook potato.
---
If there is birds' eggs you could use sheogorad stones to cook them, but you must be really big fan of eggs.

alysander

I wonder if there are birds in Skywind.

Cliffracers look reptilian and have some sort of plumage, so presumably they also lay eggs rather than live young. In addition, obviously kwama lay edible eggs, to such an extent that egg mines are throughout Vvardenfell.

Oh. Yep. Cliffracers', guars', alits' and kagouti's eggs would work.

EDIT: Could cliffracer eggs be like this?

In Morrowind's climate Dunmer would definetly dry meat. Scrib, Hound and rat jerky should be pretty common among the settled Dunmer, and very common among ashlanders ;)

[External image]

I made some beef jerky a few days ago and it was orgasmically delicious.

@Drago

Yeah this is also good idea.

Friendly reminder to all wirters.

I have many foregin terms in in the names of dishes (french, italian etc.), so create some replacements for them in dunmeri to keep them more lore friendly would be nice.

Also if someone wants to, he/she can create additional cookbooks for upper and middle class. But it has very low priority.

I've made first volume of a cookbook for middle class food. Let me know if it meets your requirements cause I don't know if i should write next ones.

I really like your book. It will definitely enrich Skywind lore. Also I like how you took some topic as main point (in this situation scrib jelly). English is not my first language but for me text looks ok, I think someone else should check it too. (personally I see no bigger mistakes). Feel free to do more if you like it.

@Velfrig, I've tweaked your cookbook to make the English sound a little more natural. I haven't made many substantial changes. I do now want to try marinated dragonfly!

I have but one suggestion - the Yummy Yam Yam should have and ash yam in it :D

Btw, i really hope that many alch. ingredients from vanilla will be food with prolonged effect.
I mean mostly things like Nix's meat, wick wheat and salt rice and cooked variants made from them.

@no_egrets, thanks a lot. I'm trying my best but I do know that some grammar influence from my native language makes the text sounds strange/unnatural sometimes.

@Dragomir, good idea. The dish name of course may come from onomatopoeia. I think we should ask @lukkar what he meant and if he can make slight update in his awesome job.

Edit: Made the next volume.

Scrib Jelly for Every Day Scrib Jelly for Everyday

Tralas Girflev - traveler, explorer, and above all, cook

Volume II

One evening, when I was setting up my tent somewhere on Odai Plateau,

A band of traveling merchants came to me and asked if they could set up their

encampment near me. I agreed, because in the wilderness it was

much wiser to keep the company of strangers than to get your throat ripped open

by a Nix-hound. Gathered around the fire, our conversations seemed to

be endless. It is worth mentioning that at that point in my life I was quite interested

in the history of Dwemers. I thought that the merchants might have some information

about undiscovered ruins of that mighty race. When I was lying in my

sleeping bag, one of merchants, named Elivsu Civalc, (I don't know why but

I remember his name well to this day) came to me and gave me

a pack of old parchments. I was so tired that I could only briefly thank him before

immediately falling asleep. The next morning when I awoke, the caravan

was gone, having left behind only some old documents. Those documents would

later come to cause me nothing but trouble. But that is a story for another book.

I spent a lot of time analyzing the old records. From all of the useless sheets, one

clearly stood out as being more precious than the rest. It was a recipe for Dwemer Salad.

Dwemer Salad

Ingredients:

- Sand Scarabaeus

- Scrib Jelly

- Green Lichen

- Marshmerrow

Preparation:

- Put a living scarabaeus into a pot

- Pour a little water inside the vessel. Remember, scarab has to be

steamed not boiled! After some time shift it around.

- When it is ready, open the scarab chitin and pull out the meat

- Cook marshmerrow and green lichen

- Make pulp from greens

- Put sweet pulp on a plate, place scarab meat on top of it and smother the

meat with fresh scrib jelly

Velothi Tower

I've attempted many times to make this dish according to my mother’s recipe,

but I have never been able to get it to achieve the same delicious taste as she did.

Ingredients:

- Ash Shad

- Saltrice

- Scrib Jelly

Preparation:

- Cook saltrice

- Mix raw ash shad meat with saltrice and fresh scrib jelly.

 - Form cones from the pulp and put it in a cold place for several hours.

- Serve chilled

Farmhand's Ragout

Ingredients:

- Hypha Facia

- Comberry

- Scrib Jelly

Preparation:

- Chop mushrooms into bite sized pieces

- Cook them in a small amount of water until they're soft

- Thicken water by adding gelatin. Stir in comberries

- Let the sauce boil for a moment

Al dente wasps

Ingredients:

- A handful of wasps

- Scrib Jelly

- Scuttle

Preparation:

- Put wasps into a boiling scrib jelly and remove once they are half-cooked

- Pour everything onto a plate and sprinkle with grated scuttle.

- Let the scuttle melt. Eat while still warm.
