Liking it thus far, though one thing I will comment on is that I think the ears/horns/whatever-they-are should have that sort of backward tilt like in Dragomir's sketch. Longer face pipes would also be pretty cool. That's just me though.
I like every version and every suggestion. I think they all look cool. I also think that Shu should just make it in whatever way pleases him, since he's doing all the heavy lifting. If it comes out looking like any of these it will be a great addition to the mod. Rock on Shushine!
Wow, a lot has transcribed in this thread while I was gone! I really like Shushine's model as of "Small update". Props and kudos him to Dragomir! (and gosh, did I actually manage to contribute something useful to the discussion back then?)
Now I'm making my return with another (hopefully my last) suggestion on this thread. I apologize in advance if this is obvious and simply not included in the WIP. So, without futher ado, here's a mantis right after molting:
It can be clearly seen on the shed "skin" that the eyes are also covered in chitin. This is why Telvanni dust adepts make their helmets out of insect headpieces - that's by far the easiest way to get dust protection for the eyes! After all, going through so much trouble to get dust filters for breath but being unable to see because of the dust is not really the Telvanni way. They would not stop there :)
So I'd add transparent (read: black, nobody would notice the difference) curved surfaces in the eye "holes", as if it's a thin layer of chitin that used to cover the insect's eyes.
There's a fleck of light on the original model in the eye socket, suggesting presence of a curved reflective surface (see my earlier screenshots), so I'm pretty sure that was the original Morrowind design as well.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention that I dig the eye shapes. Combined with the "ear" posture they give the helm a ruthless, confident, menacing expression. Very Telvanni.
As for JorgenGorgen's concept, I'm not sure how it's supposed to be better than the current model. It's a cool helmet, but it doesn't look more true to the original model or fit the lore better or anything like that.
As for the eyeholes - Dunmer are known for their goggles made of hardened, see-through resin, so we also have that option. If they're modelled in some interesting way in the eyehole they can give the mask a bit more depth, something interesting to look out for in the eye cavity. Let me explain graphically:

Not my concept. I was quoting Discoccult, that concept is his. And I much prefer Dragomir's, and That1Cactus' concepts.
Alright detailing has begun...Heres some early work. I'll keep working on the helm and then move onto the cloth where i'll get the colors right and add some Telvanni prints, etc, etc.
Been awhile but I'm back now...Asides from a couple of things I've gotten most of my business all sorted out. I'll return to this very soon. In the mean time I made a funky head just to get back into the swing of things.
No. Telvanni in the vanilla game didn't even have its own bonemold. In Skywind it will have its own Bonemold with which the various helmets from vanilla will be worn.
I got rid of most the concave shapesfrom the side right now I mainly fixing this area.

Hmm, would you be okay with portruding the whole mask a bit forward, and making the ears bigger and more to the back - to give them more substance?

That way they'll look like strong, integral pieces of the whole mask.
I can move it out....Pretty indifferent on this change doesn't matter to me but I'll go with it.
Bigger ears:
would maybe a simpler sort of hood work better for this than the crazy mullet?
I'm sure it will turn out great in the end regardless
Damn sweet! The mullet does look awkward though. Hm, maybe it would look better like in Drago's sketch, as a one piece cloth hood.
You guys do realize when i do something like that its just a placeholder for future work....

I really like the earrings :D

@jorgen yep I know it wasn't, I was just using it and changing it for a different purpose, and also to compliment the other shapes
the two halves were just a comparison between my proposed ideas and the current state of the model

Thank you sir, btw the model looks awesome ( so did your original ).

Personally for the eyes I think it would give it a more menacing look if it had black cloth covering them, rather than resin or glass goggles.
looking great there Shu!

hey shushine, the helm looks cool so far. can u tell me , how you make the ripped broken fringe cloth parts?

Haha, well that was mainly ravs part in the helm so you should ask him.
hehe, nvm, thx, though ^^
Hell yeah! Awesome job!
Definitely wearing this on my Dunmer necromancer dude.
These little "teardrop" and triangle shaped beads can also be golden I think ;)
...or made of glass/jewels/painted ceramics maybe?

Alright, wasn't really sure what they were made of.
I'm cool with what Kohl said too, especially painted ceramics, maybe some polished stones.
Honestly I liked it better before the "lamb" ears. It still looks great though.
you have my respect! for the helm, and for helping your grandmother.
Awww :D, you take your time bud.

Mate you've done well on that Telvanni Helm, excited to see it fully textured
The head looks like something from attack on titan :D
give it rock textures and trow at outside a deadric shrine of sheogorath that would be freaky
good work man, i can't wait for the dust adept armor to go with that helm...wait, are we doing a dust adept armor?
No. Telvanni in the vanilla game didn't even have its own bonemold. In Skywind it will have its own Bonemold with which the various helmets from vanilla will be worn.
...this helm does not fit with the chuzei armor, nor dose the mole crab helm. a great helm such as this one deserves a robe at least
can we close this thread please, the ash adept helm is finished, no need for members of the public to bicker further.
