Sounds good to me. But like I said earlier, I can't do the Dunmer voice good enough to contribute to those characters, so any other races I'd be happy to lend my voice to. Whatever main quest characters that are male and not Dunmer, I should be able to record, but I think they're all completed or assigned. And, of course, any smaller characters. But I just can't get my voice close enough to the original Jeff Baker Dunmer voice to actually be happy. :(

yup all the male non dunmer for the main quest are done, but feel free to look through that spreadsheet for any other characters you can do, most of them should have shorter lines so you could probably burn through most of them, also if you could do the general/shared lines and the voicetype for the wood elves that would be great we really need those done, as far as I'm concerned you could do Bretons and imperials too

also great work on that tutorial cinjaxon, I'm going to be overhauling the op tonight and that is definitely going in

Realize that I recorded those voices not only before Dragonborn DLC, but before Skyrim was out. I recorded before most of you guys were members, and back then we weren't going for accuracy to dunmer, just trying to get some voices done.

Master Neloth sounds like my take purely by coincidence. If any of my created assets are kept, I hope that you keep Neloth, Stijmunkey.

Like I said, it's counterproductive to redo done stuff before everything else is finished, but if someone can do the legit dumner / can redo quality recordings, they can go for it. I have some of the original audio and produce it by request if someone wants it.

Thanks,

Ice

Thanks. That will be my next step, the wood elves shared lines. Then I'll just go through and do random characters from the spread sheet, I guess. haha

Whatever I can do to help!

I'm actually ok with the sound of the voice i think it matches the wizardly type of fellow he is, but cor is right we really need to get the dunmer right or we will have a lot of disappointed fans, unfortunate really, plus as it would stand it's too far off from the rest of the dunmer sound so all the general lines and his voicetype for skywind would sound way too different and it would just clash too much to say one thing or greet you in the original dunmer voice then switch to his wizardy voice, but i do agree we need to at least finish the main quest voices before we redo any more voices

I totally agree with you StijMunkey. When I was doing voice, we had no one with dunmer ability, so we just did the best we could with what we have, but if we have better talent now, then it's going to be jarring to have the radically different voices.
I hate to see my contribution wasted, and hate more to be beat down for making an effort (old though it may be), but I hate most the project not getting done at all. It's really exciting to see people moving forward, and if they can read those lines better than I did, then I want them too so that we can advance the project both in scope and quality.

But yeah, main quest should be done first before the steam dies out again.

Well we have a dedicated lead now, ( I have nothing better to do in my spare time and im glad i can contribute in some way) and at least a few volunteers in it for the long haul so hopefully we wont have a problem with that steam dying out, once we have thr process ready for skywind aswell and not just morroblivion im going to do some serious scouring of the interwebs and try recruiting as many people as i can, already have my sights set on some talented people, and we need to find some females lol

I guess I've been away for a while...this project fell to the back of my mind for some time largely due to my job being hell over the holidays.  Sorry for putting you through the tedious work for my lines, stijmunkey, just completely forgot I had more to do.  I am looking at other lines to do, possibly Bretons, and when I do them, I'll make sure I get the tedious stuff done.

I agree 100%! I really like your Neloth (although he won't mix well with the other Dunmer now) and am glad we have the voices from the original threads! This will be a work in progress for a long time, but I'd like to have a release that's actually usable in a playthrough of the entire game, and if we get these Dunmer main questers taken care of we should have a really good start. I'm always hardcore with quality standards, and most of the audio used in-game so far is pretty poor, but like you guys said, it's important to get everything done first, then improve upon it. I'm glad this project is making as much progress as it is. This will be a HUGE change to the Morroblivion experience when it finally gets done.

Hey guys, my pal's been really busy and has done just less than half of Yagrum Bagarn's lines. This link contains the audacity project compressed in Winrar.

http://www.mediafire.com/?bpzaomn9zb5g6qa

Also attached are a couple attempts at generic Dunmer and Redguard voices.

Dunmer

Redguard

Pretty good. I wish Yagrum was closer to the original voice in Morrowind, but it's still a good voice. I'd try to watch the room echo as much as possible, it's a little too strong. But a good voice, overall!

I don't think the Dunmer is quite right. You must be like me. I can do the raspy voice that you're doing, but can't get that deep Dunmer rasp that others can. I don't know how you other guys can do that!

Someone should contact this woman about doing voices her voice is great and her audio is great too. I was watching one of Gophers vids and she is doing voice for the skyrim book read aloud mod.

I don't know if she would do it but its worth a try.

Here is her site.

the read book aloud mod is amazing :) Now some books are common between skyrim and morrowind. With just a little update they should be compatible :D

so i figured i would let you guys know i have sent messages to the girl from that book mod and a few people from the tes voice actors alliance, as i was looking through the alliance for more people to contact my computer crashed. It wouldn't boot up at all no safe mode nothing so i spent half the night trying to get it to boot back up, finally i just gave up, luckily i have like 4 1terabyte hard drives and i was able to reinstall windows on a different hard drive and just move everything i have over to the new hard drive, almost lost all my files lol, that would have really sucked, but anyway i will get back to contacting more people and converting all of caius's files to work with skywind tonight

I've now relocated to my new home, I have my computer set up and ready to go, and best of all: this new Pit of mine is quieter, so less chance of background noise contaminating my recordings!

In short, I am now going to really get the ball rolling on my Argonian recording. Now my throat shall be slowly ground into the fell planes of oblivion, all for a good cause! :-P

Oh, and a new mic. Because a newer, better mic for VO recording makes me happy. ^_^

awesome news, just remember to let me know which characters your doing so i can assign them properly, are you planning on doing all the general/shared lines and voicetype too?

I am planning to do every and all Argonian characters, right down to the sniff of disdain when a player walks by.

A long task to be sure, but that's what I volunteered for.

ok good to know ill assign you properly as soon as i get home, we are talking all the male characters right? or are you going to try and get the female sound too
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

As amusing as the thought of me trying to pull off a female Argonian voice is, I'd have to say no. Me trying a female voice in general fails to do more than horrify the world, me trying a falsetto Argonian voice would be Cthulhu levels of mind-destroying.

Ya, I should have mentioned that I was strictly doing Argonians with a Y chromosome, for the sake of our sanity, of course.

lol that's what i figured but i thought i would make sure

I /might/ be able to do some female voices. The problem is that I have no equipment and am a terrible actor in general. I've attached my voice. I also have a trans-atlantic accent, so I'm not sure how useful I'd be anyway.

Your voice is fine, definitely suitable for some of the human races, tweak your accent a little any you will even make a good nord, try some of the tips a pop filter hanging up a blanket and follow the first part of cinjaxons tutorial, he shows how to make the sound quality a little better in audacity, then try a few lines and post them up, looking forward to hearing them, hopefully youll take a couple characters!

Hi, I would like to attempt Hlaren Ramoran! Attached is my first attempts. let me know if they are OK! I don't want to record some lines if I don't sound right! I tried a couple (EDIT: a few) voices but I can do more if needed.

Thanks,

Jimmy

I dont have oblivion anymore or skyrim (never played skyrim) but i like doing voices. I tried to approximate from youtube vids and from memory what they sound like. Used the excel table thermador provided for the lines.

Awesome voice maybe not roll the "r"s so much like a Khajit ;) you have the right throat for it. The wispy slight rasp but cozy sound with hints of deviance. You got the right sound pretty much.

I hope this goes well because the one liners sold me well on the first version.

what are you talking about? in morrowind the khajiit`s rolled the r`s much more than he tried to do ;)

@zaf:

You have a very good voice for khajiit`s and for redguards, and imperials, hope you can do those in the future :)

hey, those are some nice samples, although they are not close enough to what we are looking for for the dark elves (that one is very specific) i think that the posh or northern elf was perfect for some high elves, look through the spreadsheet and try and find some high elf or even wood elf characters

Is it possible to make Open Office work in the same way that Excel does so the "filter By" area will actually work?

Hi again guys!

I'm so happy to tell you that I just ordered a pretty good microphone from the internet. :3 It's a Shure PG48-QTR mic in case anyone else is interested. So I'll be able to do high quality voices. ^^ I'll start working on the khajiit females once the mic arrives, which should be in about two weeks max.

Oh and I also ordered a new drawing tablet pen caus I'd lost my old one. :) So I can begin doing textures as well.

I'm so thrilled to see that this thread is quite active nowadays! And I'm glad we seemingly got another female on board! ^^

great! I only have assigned for Addhiranirr so whenever you finish her and pick someone else just let me know, there is actually quite a few female kahjiit, also I've contacted a few people from the tes voice actors alliance some of them females hopefully they come to the forum and few of them seemed interested and we sorely need a female dunmer

I have the proper equipment & software and can produce quickly.

there should be a table at the bottom of the spreadsheet saying general/shared lines or something that should bring up all the lines as for the ash creatures I'm not sure if there is anymore in that spreadsheet but there should be, we also need to ake a voicetype for them iI giess

not bad, although there was a bit of feedback sound? but i assume its just because it was a qiuck test plus cinjaxons tutorial can help cut down on that, i think your ok for mehra and quite frankly we desperately need a female dunmer, but i do think your voice may be a little young sounding for some of the older dunmer, wise womans and such, anyone else have any opinions? If no one disagrees and if your up to it i would be happy to assign you to mehra
