yup we got a couple people agreeing that your khajiit was good and other races arent as strict as the dunmer lol, again just let me know which characters you are working on, and if you plan on doing the general lines and i can assign you
Heres a list of all the dark elf voices ive been messing with:
Let me know what you think!
I hate to be the party pooper here, but these sounds nothing like classic morrowind dunmer. So if you can't get that raspy dunmer voice I would try another race were I you.
Also I can hear your breath hitting the microphone, try to avoid that.
Just throwing my opinion here.
as much as i appreciate the criticism cor angars (thats not sarcasm i really do appreciate the input), i would prefer you throwing me a couple of raspy tips instead? on one voice i literally had to gargle water 2 seconds before the recording. its hard to get in that pocket where there are ruptures behind the voice. so at this point really anything helps
I'll do Dro'Sakhar, Dro'Tasarr, Dro'Zhirr, J'Dhannar, Jobasha, Joshur, J'Saddha, J'Zhirr, Ra'Tesh, Ra'Virr, Ra'Zahr, Ra'Zhid, Ri'Zaadha, S'virr, Thengil, Wadarkhu, and the generals.
I think those are all the unique ones that aren't assigned or completed.
Oh, and for clarification on the generals, could I get some :l I want to do it but I'm not entirely clear on just What needs to be recorded.
Sorry for the trouble.
ok so in the spreadsheet there is a tab at the bottom for shared or misc lines, unfortunately all of those need to be recorded, its a lot of lines a project in its own, and if you were looking to do the voicetype for khajiit then you need the file at the bottom of the op

'Tis a curious thing trying to explain how-to and giving tips about such a thing, because by my experience being able to generate certain voices is a question about being naturally able to do or not being able to, like it is something you can't learn. If that makes any sense...
For myself for example I can go in and out of a raspy voice without any effort, no preparement or anything. Something like that can't be explained I just do it. Speaking in the raspy dunmer voice is as natural as using my normal voice (which is really high-pitched), when I first heard the voice in morrowind I tried to imitate the voice and it worked.
So in short there isn't really any tricks behind the voice I'd say, it simply is, sad to say.
But there is one thing though I can suggest, don't drink water! Drink something "thicker" like some sort of juice, milk based products, soft drinks or stuff like that. Really anything more dense then water.
Yeah that makes perfect sense
i just havent really been practicing it that much to be honest, like today i've been sort getting used to how the sound is moving through my throat so most tries i get it nice and bumpy and sometimes it sounds like a dry squeak or i cant last over 3 sentences lol. with the other demos for instance i wasn't really even fully aware i should have been going for the classic morrowind rasp, i mostly added too much of a twist to it. but thanks for the help man and i have faith in myself that i can get it too sound right. maybe not perfect but at least sellable. ima drink some sunny D to chunk it up and when i got it down ill post you guys a rasp test to see if you like, because i don't want to be voicing yet if its not what we all want
One thing I forgot; stijmunkey I did have Gothren assigned to me on Arshak's list as I said on post 24 I was working on Varvur Sarethi, both of them are finished by now BTW.

ya the op messed up on me a while back, and i put everyone's names back on the list from scratch, i had a feeling i missed something, do you mind posting a list of what you have completed and who you are still working on so i can fix the op properly
Finally, FINALLY, I finished Caius. I tried to give him the personality I feel he has. It may not suit some, but it's sure a lot better than what was there before! Also, if you use his voice, don't hesitate to tell me something I messed up on, because I'm SURE that I did. A line missing, a mispronunciation, something, because I went into this completely blind. I think he turned out okay, though. I did every line of dialog in the excel sheet, but I know he says more 'shared' lines and greetings and stuff, but I'm not sure how to save those so that it only works for Caius. If there's a way, let me know, and I'll give him even more lines.
sounds fine to me cor, i imagine that the dunmer voice all the time could get a little rough on the throat, just let me know if you want to take him, also can you run through the op and make sure all the characters for you are correct, i think i have it right now but let me know if i missed anything or if you have completed any characters that i have you assigned to
'Tis a good thing I keep my own list, I have listed Dram Bero on it and have already finished half of his lines! Though I can't remember doing it, strange... I also have Rothis Nethan listed (with his 8 lines of dialogue lol) And I just added Trebonius Artorius to the list.
Beyond that the OP list should be up to date, except that I wasn't happy with Foryn Gilnith and Han-Ammu so I've decided to re-record all of their lines.
Yeah, just let me know what they are whenever anyone can and I'll record them. I'm just glad to have such a big part of the main quest basically finished.
If there are anymore completed ones besides the three I've done, I'd kind of like to see a new release. I haven't kept track of what all has changed since V003, but I've seen a lot of people in the thread taking characters. I'd love to get them in and hear the new voices!
there have only been a few additions since then, and of course the new and improved caius, I can definitely release a new version but iI was gonna wait till I had more to add, if cor Angars feels nice enough to upload what he has finished I could add those and that would be a huge update as he has completed a bunch and I don't have any of his files
I do feel nice enough to do so, but the bitter truth is that I am a lazy fack and while I enjoy voice acting it's the technical side I hate when you have to cut, export, convert, put into right folder, upload and all that.
And then it's how the dialogue are "presented"as I've noticed in morroblivion when in some the dialogue are so long it's put into two parts, I presume those things are in the excel thermador has given us but I haven't used it since I use the game files instead. And I do all the dialogue in one part most of the time so I'm not certain how they "go" into the game.
So yeah, lots of complications along the road, so unless someone else would be willing to do all that it would be just about the thing I do last.

i wouldn't worry about the converting i can do that, but the rest i would rather you do as I'm already going to have to go through copies of all your files and manually rename them one by one so they can work with skywind aswell, and as for the whole too long thing yes the way it works is that whenever it gets the file that pops up the line on the dialogue screen (only 150 characters at a time so if a line is longer it would have to split up) it also looks for a voice file of the same file name and if it finds one that's what it will play while that line is displayed
There were a couple like that with Caius. I simply recorded it straight through and then split it. I also included the original file thinking maybe something will change in Skywind.
For example, "MorroDefaultQuest_1whatSyouAveSlearned_00aace37_3.mp3" is split mid-sentence with "MorroDefaultQuest_1whatSyouAveSlearned_00aace37_4.mp3". I have both of those along with the .lip files for them, but I also included a file called "MorroDefaultQuest_1whatSyouAveSlearned_00aace37_3_and_4.mp3" just so no one would have to reconnect them if need be in the future. I know it'll be weird having a noticeable break in Morroblivion between the two audio files, but we can only work with what we have, I suppose.
I just noticed testing the audio in-game, that dealing with Caius, some of the lines don't register. For example, when you first speak with him. It doesn't work in Sot's version, nor in mine. When he's like "Yes, I'm Caius. But what do you mean you were told to report to Caius?". It may just be my copy, I'm not sure, but I can't get the lines to work. Other ones seem to work fine, but for some reason those beginning ones don't.
Looking at it in the construction set, it looks like some things have DUPLICATED in them (and are, in fact, duplicated) and others have * beside of them. These are the ones I'm having trouble with. I'm not sure if I did something or if it's the same for everyone.
Here's a picture of the CS. Greetings has an asterisk beside it, and when I go in, there are duplicates that appear exactly the same except some need audio that I don't have. For example, in the pic attached, the second "What? Yes, I'm Caius..." line WITHOUT the asterisk uses "fbmwMQ01_GREETING_00017BFA_1.mp3" to play the audio, but the first one, WITH the asterisk is calling for "fbmwMQ01_GREETING_00008D80_1.mp3" which wasn't in the excel sheet. It the same audio, so all I'd have to do is copy and rename, I just wasn't sure if this is like that on everyone's version or if I somehow did something to screw up mine.
Well I'd be happy to voice absolutely anyone. I hate it, though, because I just cannot do the dunmer voice up to a standard I think is good enough. But as far as any Imperials or Argonians or anything, I think I can do quite a few. There's a couple of main questers already taken that I'd like to do like Crassius Curio and Yagrum Bagarn. But I'm fine with voicing any characters, I just know we were worried about getting the main quest ones first before filling in all of the little parts and most of them are dunmer. I'm also open to the idea of redoing some of the ones already there (for quality purposes). I don't know what's there from the original thread but I know there are some mistakes. Like, I think Sellus Gravius says Casius Cosades instead of Caius Cosades. If these voice actors could redo them themselves that would be great, but I'd be happy to redo other pieces like I did Caius, as long as I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by doing it.
I will be pretty busy with work for the next couple of weeks, but like always, in any spare time that I have I'd like to contribute. I think the voice mod really adds a lot to these ports of Morrowind.

If you would like you can redo Hasphat Antabolis it says ice completed him but i dont have any files for him and ive tried contacting ice with no answer, so if you want and when you have time you can do him
Edit: Nevermind that Ice literally just answered me he is going to look for the files if he can find them then we are all good, if he doesnt have them anymore then you can redo them
I've tried, tried and tried to get these things to work but they won't! I've searched how to created lip files but they all lead to technical stuff and long texts that half sounds like riddles.
And my files all becomes 128kbps instead of 64 and I don't even know what that means.

It's a little complicated, but I got The Construction Set Extender, and as long as I save my wavs with the right filename in the right location, it creates all the .lip files for me. Then, converting to mp3 I do with Switch Sound File Converter where I just set it to make them 64 mp3's and it does them all at once. If you'd like I could do a sort of how-to that shows the easiest way to do it. I can knock out a ton of lines in just an hour or two with my quick and easy process.

just send me all the voice files, don't need file structure or anything either just put all the voice files for each character in their own folder, iI can take it from there

That would be appreciated, that way stijmunkey wouldn't have to do more then he have to and since I'm unemployed at the moment I have lots of spare time.
Just try to keep it simple, I've met toddlers with more technical knowledge then I have.
I presume this is the Set Extender you're talking about?

That's would be nice lol, if you still can't figure it out with cinjaxons tutorial don't worry about it too much it's the actual voice recording that's the important part the rest can get done later
I'm stuck at work until midnight, but when I get home I'll make a step-by-step thing for anyone to make it easy! Maybe we can put it in the OP or something. It's really not too hard and can take some responsibility off of the modder if all of the voice actors can do it themselves. I'll shall return tonight!

for the record if you guys could keep copies of the wav formatted files and send them to me too that would be cool, morroblivion uses mp3 but skywind uses wav
Sure thing. I attached all of my wavs so far to this message.
Also, my tutorial video is uploading right now. I'm going on 5 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours, so I might be all over the place and my country accent is pretty strong right now:P but if you can bare with it you can see how to
1. Make it sound good.
2. Name it correctly.
3. Create .lip files.
I'll post a link as soon as it's finished uploading.
This will show you how to record your audio and create .lip files. You'll need the Oblivion Extender and the Construction Set Extender. (In order to use the construction set extender you'll need to have your Oblivion folder somewhere besides C:/Program Files)
1. Record your lines directly from the Excel sheet. Find your character and record them all in one sitting if possible.
2. Edit your lines one-by-one and save them as .wav, naming each line EXACTLY what it's named in the Excel sheet under the "Filename" column.
3. Use Switch Sound File Converter to create mp3's of your wav files.
4. Place the correctly named wav files into the correct folder inside of where your Oblivion (with the working Construction Set Extender) folder is.
[For example: Caius Cosades would go in:
"Data/Sound/Voice/Morrowind_ob.esm/Imperial/M/"
or Fargoth the Wood Elf would go in
"Data/Sound/Voice/Morrowind_ob.esm/High Elf/M/"]
5. Start the Construction Set Extender and click Character/Generate Batch Lip Files.
6. Hit "No" to both pop-up alerts.
7. Allow time for the Construction Set Extender to find your wav files and create the corresponding .lip files.
8. Put your .lip files and .mp3 files together and send them to the modder.
Hey, I haven't been on or active in a while, and I just recently got Stijmunkey's message. (Some of my old files have been missing). It's really nice to see all the great work that's being done here.
I've gone through my old files and uploaded them to mediafire so that Munkey can re-integrate them into the file, or if you guys hate them, redo them. (I hope though that people record new lines for those that don't have them before re-recording old bad lines).
Here's the link to all of them in one zip. They're formatted for Morroblivion (some with proper folder structure), so they may need renamed for Skyrim?
Included are folders for
-Sellus Gravius
-Master Neloth (My Favorite to do, so glad that he's back in Dragonborn)
-Hasphat Antabolis
-Yngling Half Troll
-Gilvas Barelo
and a folder for "Bracola and Codulus" which I think is Bacola Closcius and Codus Callonus.
I also got a message from Tyetonious. She sent me the voice files she had been working on for Skywind. I wanted to repost them here since I'm no longer the voice lead, so Munkey can add them as well: http://www.2shared.com/file/okWyfR6W/fmdunmernm6.html
Thanks guys, please keep up the good work. Updating voice is a huge project that's seen 3 leaders come and go already. But it's something that we NEED in order to come up to par with other modern games. So please guys, keep at it!

The imperials sounds alright though Sellus Gravius sounds a bit underwhelming.
Yngling Half-Troll doesn't exactly sound like a nord but okay.
But Neloth and Gilvas must certainly be changed considering we aim for the morrowind dunmer, while these sounds like wood elves on skooma.

I agree. I love that we have something but I wish the quality was better. In-game it sort of takes you out of the world and you realize you're listening to someone's audio files, rather than talking to the character. Having listened to Neloth from the Dragonborn DLC, though, I can't complain about your take (it's actually pretty close), so I'd be fine with that one if it were better quality. I know it's hard to do on a budget, but with the right tweaks in Audacity you can get it sounding pretty good. Do you still have the raw audio for these files, or is the final edit the only thing you have?

That audio of Naloth is very old if I remember correctly, older then the dragonborn DLC! It's in the V003 on the front page, that it sounds like him in the DLC is purely by chance.
And like I said, we aim for what the dunmer sounds like in morrowind do we not? So if every other dunmer sounds like the classic kind and then inexplicably two sounding like that, that doesn't just work.
And to be completely honest, I cringe when I listen to it. (in a bad way)
i agree, and we are trying to stick the original sounding male dunmer, every thing else isn't too big of a deal but the male dunmer is the most recognized voice of morrowind and a fan favorite so we really need to please people on that particular voice, that being said i think we should at least knock off the rest of the male dunmer that are part of the main quest first, then work on replacing these characters
Sounds good to me. But like I said earlier, I can't do the Dunmer voice good enough to contribute to those characters, so any other races I'd be happy to lend my voice to. Whatever main quest characters that are male and not Dunmer, I should be able to record, but I think they're all completed or assigned. And, of course, any smaller characters. But I just can't get my voice close enough to the original Jeff Baker Dunmer voice to actually be happy. :(
But I'm just checking I'm good to go with all male khajiit voices that aren't already assigned? Oh, and the random lines and such for the male side of that race as well.

I'm also finished recording and editing Caius's attack sounds and everything. Here's the audio and lip files, Skywind ready, as the OP states.
Doood cinjaxon you be complete everything you got assigned to, you trying anyone else out?

If you would like you can redo Hasphat Antabolis it says ice completed him but i dont have any files for him and ive tried contacting ice with no answer, so if you want and when you have time you can do himEdit: Nevermind that Ice literally just answered me he is going to look for the files if he can find them then we are all good, if he doesnt have them anymore then you can redo them
I've tried, tried and tried to get these things to work but they won't!

That would be appreciated, that way stijmunkey wouldn't have to do more then he have to and since I'm unemployed at the moment I have lots of spare time.
Just try to keep it simple, I've met toddlers with more technical knowledge then I have.
I presume this is the Set Extender you're talking about?

I'm stuck at work until midnight, but when I get home I'll make a step-by-step thing for anyone to make it easy! Maybe we can put it in the OP or something. It's really not too hard and can take some responsibility off of the modder if all of the voice actors can do it themselves. I'll shall return tonight!
Caius was too big and it freaked out the forum uploader :(
I did it elsewhere, here's a link that should work.

They're formatted for Morroblivion (some with proper folder structure), so they may need renamed for Skyrim?
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m7tlzs0z1t3hi2z
Included are folders for
-Sellus Gravius
-Master Neloth (My Favorite to do, so glad that he's back in Dragonborn)
-Hasphat Antabolis
-Yngling Half Troll
-Gilvas Barelo
and a folder for "Bracola and Codulus" which I think is Bacola Closcius and Codus Callonus.
I also got a message from Tyetonious. She sent me the voice files she had been working on for Skywind. I wanted to repost them here since I'm no longer the voice lead, so Munkey can add them as well:

Thanks guys, please keep up the good work. Updating voice is a huge project that's seen 3 leaders come and go already. But it's something that we NEED in order to come up to par with other modern games. So please guys, keep at it!
hey guys: my friend will be done with 2 voices by the end of the day tomorrow. He's just been a little busy with school in previous weeks.
Just to clarify. He is still committed to Huleeya, Gilvas, Yagrum Bagarn, and Crassius Curio. He's been working to finish these soon!
Ice wrote:
The imperials sounds alright though Sellus Gravius sounds a bit underwhelming.
Yngling Half-Troll doesn't exactly sound like a nord but okay.
But Neloth and Gilvas must certainly be changed considering we aim for the morrowind dunmer,
while these sounds like wood elves on skooma.Cor Angars wrote:
Do you still have the raw audio for these files, or is the final edit the only thing you have?
cinjaxon wrote:
That audio of Naloth is very old if I remember correctly, older then the dragonborn DLC! It's in the V003 on the front page, that it sounds like him in the DLC is purely by chance.
And like I said, we aim for what the dunmer sounds like in morrowind do we not? So if every other dunmer sounds like the classic kind and then inexplicably two sounding like that, that doesn't just work.
And to be completely honest, I cringe when I listen to it. (in a bad way)
Sounds good to me. :(
cinjaxon: You have the perfect voice for breton and imperials, there must be more characters of those races you can do? :)
