Thanks thermador I'll check it out as soon as I get home! if the skyrim file names are correct you will be my hero forever!, also I think all the miscellaneous sounds and lines I have to include in my voicetypes(bottom of main post) include all those generic greetings and such that you are missing, although it will be the skyrim version of them instead of the morrowind. The only thing is I could only get the sound and lip files so there is no text files in my misc sounds download

Hi thermador, so the filenames are a little different for example your filename for the attacked while dreaming topic for caius (dreams of a lost house quest) is

fbmwA1Dreams_1attackedSwhileSsleeping_0032051f_1

while the filename in the quests mod for skywind is

fbmwA1Drea_1attackedSwhile_0032051F_1

and some are duplicates so the filename ends up something like fbmwDUP02_...  instead of fbmw02_...

so they are all messed up for skywind, i think we will have to wait for the quest guys to finish putting in the dialogue properly

Also the file path should look like this for a caius line

Data\Sound\Voice\Skywind.esm\Malemorrocaius

And a line for a male breton npc would be

Data\Sound\Voice\Skywind.esm\Malemorrobreton

skyrim sorts it by the npc voicetype

Okay I have just got my new microphone and have begun recording with a decent sound quality. My questions are :

I : Do you want the recordings seperated by character?

II : Do you want the characters sent individually or everything in 1 big go?

III : While recording do you want just the topics, or the greetings, journal, etc too?

I am about half-way through Abassel Asserbassalit at the moment. The topic menu that is.

Yes just put each characters voice files in a separate folder, then it doesn't matter you can post them up as you finish them or all in one go, don't worry about the journal or the greetings, if you want to do the greetings then you will have to do the voicetype, bottom of the first post will explain

OK. Are you planning on having unique voice types for every named NPC?  Or only for the important ones like Caius?  If I know that, at least I can make the folder names work.

I guess the file name will have to wait until I can get data out of the CK for Skywind.esm.

So far for the voicetypes all there is is one for each race female and male and one for caius they are all listed at the bottom of the first post also digital is looking into getting those file names exported

I've been playing the latest release of Morroblivion and there is one thing I've noticed. I thought maybe we could use some of the original voices from the beginning of the game, but realized that you can go back and talk to those people later and they have text-based conversations. So I guess we'll have to rerecord the audio files of those people too? If so, I can work to try to imitate some of the original voices in similar quality. My audio stuff actually shipped today so I should be able to contribute a lot more in the coming weeks.

OK.  So for example, if you have 30 different people voicing different "male dunmer" characters, all of those characters are going to use the "Malemorrodunmer" voice type.  There are 1,390 male dunmer characters in the game.

If all characters with the same gender and race are going to share one voice type, but that voice type is voiced by many different people, you will have to be VERY careful about how you assign dialog lines and who is voicing what.  Otherwise, you will get a single character who is speaking with the voices of different voice actors.

The way Bethesda does it is that they have many different voice types for each race.  One actor does only ONE voice type.  So:

  • Actor Robert | Malemorrodunmer1
  • Actor John | Malemorrodunmer2
  • Actor William | Malemorrodunmer3
  • Actor Richard | Malemorrodunmer4

... and so on.  If you have multiple actors doing a single voice type, you are going to be in for a world of pain when you try to sort that out later.

Since you are assigning voice acting roles per character (one voice actor does one character's lines and then moves on to another character) then you NEED to create a voice type for each character.

Skyrim assigns all the characters of a certain race and gender to one voicetype yes, so it knows which voicetype folder to look for the dialogue in, but if some one does one character and some one else does one for a different character then yes their recordings will all go in the same folder but in game the voice files won't get mixed up so one characters full voice dialogue will sound like one actor and the other characters voiced dialogue will sound like the other actor, so each character will still only have and sound like the voice who acted him/her. The only thing that might sound a little different is the misc lines or sounds that you hear without actually speaking to the npc, but that's why we are trying to find voice actors that sound similar for example the dunmer male actors all sound pretty close to the same

Fargoth voice?

http://picosong.com/nn2q/

Based it on the greeting voice it gives for people like him. Still just playing around until I get my new audio and/or someone better does the voice. I know it could be a little less flat, but just as auditioning or whatever, I figured I'd give it a shot.

Edit: I just noticed the official list has Fargoth as complete. If he already has a better voice than my version then just ignore me, I didn't see that.

Cinjaxon i actually cant find fargoths files in the download they must not have included it before i took over so feel free to take him i think that sounds flipping amazing it sounds perfect! You wouldnt also be interested in doing some of the generic or misc lines for wood elves would you?

Absolutely. I'll contribute all that I can. I'm planning on doing Caius whenever my new audio equipment gets here, and I'll do anything else you guys need too. Just let me know the lines and I'll be happy to help. There's so many characters (and especially considering Oblivion had like 2 voice actors for all of them) that having the same voice actor scattered here and there across Morrowind should be fine, especially if I can change my voice for different ones.

That Fargoth is quite nice! Actually I don't mind if Skywind will be voiced by 2-3 actors like Oblivion.

I was also wondering about Dagoth Ur. I know the Morrowind Voice Addon had Tyana Rie doing the voice, but that was a long time ago. I didn't know if we were gonna use those are start from scratch. If so, I could give that a shot based on the audio Dagoth already has in Morrowind.

If you are talking about this, then yes, it's used in Morroblivion (included in main download).

Yeah, that's it. Well that's good. I like that voice and it's close enough to the original. I'm glad to see it's been incorporated.

If possible I would like to voice Divayth Fyr, Master Aryon, and Sul-Matuul.

Here are some samples of my dunmer voice. Most of this was to go into a mod which I did not finish for morrowind.

Hey cabius, thats a pretty good dunmer, consider yourself assigned, OP updated

Thanyou, I will begin soon. :D

Ok so the OP messed up on me i had to put in the assign and completed voices in all over again let me know if i missed anything or screwed up somewhere

You forgot to mark master aryon as assigned to me.

ok should be up there now, thanks

I found a mis pronounciation in Caius Cosadus.

When you select the option Ashlanders you will get 3 sentences he says in the last sentence he says Ashlanders while the subtitles clearly state Outlanders. ( No Offence Cinjaxon )

Hope it will be fixed. Will be looking forward for more voice acting since it really brings it to life and makes long pieces of text easy to read and listen too.

I would also love to do a voice acting or multiple. (Vivec personaly I love the idea of playing/voicing a god) Now I just have to buy a good Microphone. Any Recommendations on a good (PC) microphone?

caius was originally done by sot, cinjaxion is redoing him, I don't even know if he has started yet but to answer your question yes it should be fixed in cinjaxons version
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

It wouldn't fit in with the lore, but it would be cool if Vivec had two voices at once (Because of his two sided body). A normal sounding "Chimer" voice overlayed with a Dunmer sounding voice.

Actually that sounds really cool and not that far from lore either, it actually makes a lot of sense. but it would be hard to implement the easiest way would be to get one guy to do the voices and overlay them with audacity or something but even then it would be really hard to get everything said at the same time and to sound decent, also doesnt "he" represent both genders aswell so wouldnt it make sense to perhaps have a male dunmer voice and a female chimer voice, and that would be even more difficult

Well the first thing that comes to mind would to record the line in normal dunmer voice, make a duplicate of it and tone down the pitch! Made a quick test, opinions?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/id3vc1h1qgfeqd6/vivec_test.wav

that sounded really cool actually, but shouldn't one of the voices be able higher pitch for the chimer part of him and then the nice darker lower dark elf voice? just my opinion
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

"be able higher pitch for" "nice darker lower dark elf voice"

I cannot make sense of this, please explain.

sorry stupid phone lol record one in normal dunmer voice, then instead of toning the duplicates pitch down tone it up so it sounds lighter or any higher pitch (more like a high elf or wood elf) does that make sense?

That does make sense and that is in fact what I did but since I'm a moron I wrote "tone down the pitch" instead of "tone up the pitch" lol.

i hope your doing the one liners aswell, such as "were watching you, scum" :)

lol okay well maybe tone it up a little more then, then I think it would sound perfect, @eloth ya one liners will be included in the voice types unfortunately it will be the skyrim one liners, but the dark elf version so people will still get called n'wah and s'wit but iI don't think there is a I'm watching you scum line:(
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

the ordinators in vivec city say that line to you when your low level

stijmunkeyya one liners will be included in the voice types unfortunately it will be the skyrim one liners, but the dark elf version so people will still get called n'wah and s'wit but iI don't think there is a I'm watching you scum line:(

Why would we use the skyrim lines instead of those from morrowind, guard lines from skyrim especially sucked.

Edited the vivec line again, how's that?

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n4caxx1vam6lmmd/vivec_test2.wav

i think that sounded really good, if your up to it, it would be great if you could voice vivec aswell,

the only way i could get the generic one liners extracted so people know what to say and with all the proper file names was to extract it out of skyrim, but im sure i can get people to voice the ordinator gaurd lines and replace the corresponding skyrim versions

how did we do solve that in morroblivion regarding one liners?

Would we be able to use the oneliners directly from Morrowind?  Save recording time?

Also, I think your first Vivec test line sounded best Cor Angars, but both sounded awesome!

if someone could figure out how to convert it to skyrim and its weird voicetype setup (completely different from morrowind and oblivion) then yes we could but unfortunately thats easier said than done but if someone could figure it out then they would be my hero!

I know I'm late to respond, but to TimRafer, yeah, that voice is DEFINITELY not me! I'm still waiting on my new audio equipment, but my Cauis voice may not be great, but it'll be VERY clear and professional. Not some muffled laptop mic, haha.

I've had such an extremely difficult time getting this stuff. They've shipped it to the wrong place, ran out of stock, I've played phone tag, I've exchanged emails, it's been a nightmare! But finally, FINALLY it is actually on it's way. They say the LATEST is the 25th, so hopefully I'll get it sometime next week. And I promise I'll start shooting out a ton of voice files when I finally do! I've got a couple of other voicework projects (some narration and cartoon stuff) but I'm making Morroblivion one of my top priorities. I know there's no real time restraint on this, but I hate procrastinating...

How do you guys think I should pronounce Divayth Fyr? Div as in Divide athyh as in Eighth, Fyr as in Fire or Fyr as in Fear?

Here is a little sample of me just messing with one of the lines. What do you guys think I should do? Should he sound more crazy or possibly energetic?

https://soundcloud.com/cabius/the-great-divayth-fyr-take-1

Also is there a place where I can listen to some of the voices that are already done? I just like to hear other peoples work as well.

Also, just adding my 2 cents one liners, I think it would be best to record it instead of import it from Morrowind. If we record it all then everyone has their own unique voice.

Here are two more lines I am playing around with.

I dig it. I think the way you say it is exactly the same as the way I'd say it too. Makes sense to me and that voice is great. My only complaint, and it's just because I'm hardcore about that stuff, is the quality. I'd love to have that voice in a studio somewhere, because it deserves it, but we only have what we have. Just try to do the stuff in the tutorials to reduce background noise as much as possible without distorting the voice, and do what ya can. But you sound really good, and I, for one, agree with the pronunctiation.

I'm also interested in doing the only Dwemer voice ever heard in the games, Yagrum Bagarn. I see that he has voice files in the game but they aren't used, so I have do have something to base it on. If it's okay, I'd like to voice him as well. I'm working right now, but I'll work on some samples later when I get home.

Dmoney123 posted to claim Yagrum Bagarn on page 3, wasn't added to the OP though for some reason. So unless there's been talk via PM he's claimed.

Oh, okay. I don't wanna take anyone's spots. I already recorded a line before I saw that, so I thought I'd post anyway. Just trying to copy the voice he had (which is really weird, but I guess Corprus disease would do that to you). First is from Morrowind, second is me, yadda yadda. But I'm sure Dmoney123 is fine too, I just looked at the OP and didn't know it was taken. My apologies!

Thankyou, I was just messing around there, the final voice overs will be cleaned up according to the tutorials.

That sounds quite similar. I think it is supposed to be that the Corprus has swollen his lips, that is why he talks so weird. Also he is really fat, it might of been for comical value.

sorry about that guys, dmoney123s friend Eric saleh claimed yagrum, I edited the op a little while back and it messed up on me i had to reassign everyone to the proper characters i must have forgot to put him back on yagrum iI will fix it as soon as i get home

Ha, I have no idea! I just press buttons, and magic happens when I open my mouth.

Oh dear that sounded better in my head, and less erotic too... I shouldn't post on night, especially when it's weekend now.

Have this while I'm at it.
