Okay guys. I've gone through
Okay guys. I've gone through and voiced all of the Male Altmer in the game that I could find on the spreadsheet. Apologies if any had already been claimed! Simply don't use them if need be.
Before I package it all correctly, I wanted to ask for your opinions on the voices as they are. Here is a file where you can listen to all of them, in order. It's not very long.
http://www.mediafire.com/?uinb7u2j29wlubf
I'm hoping that you will be able to hear each character distinctly enough from one another without them straying too far from the overall sound of the race. Do let me know where I succeeded/failed in that. The bass is also pretty whack in the first recording, which I'm fixing before I package this stuff.
What should I change? The more detail the better!
@Barradin Your voices are
@Barradin
Your voices are really good :)
I'm not an expert on the other races, so I won't proport to be, but for kajiit I have a few tips.
Your voice is good, a little more swarthiness and slightly more rolling consonants would be good.
But the biggest thing is to relax your voice a little, it just sounds a bit, forced, like you're trying too hard x3 If you relax your throat and use the same amount of air you normally would it'll make it (and most voices, save orcs who are a bit shouty) sound more natural and thus better.
Keep it up though :)
Awesome! Okay, thanks. I'll
Awesome! Okay, thanks. I'll try some more Khajiit and see what you think. Would love to hear any thoughts you have on the other races too, even if you're not an expert. After all, you've played the games ^^
Okay here are two more Khajiit. I think I'd do better with reference material but it's slim pickings it seems. That said, first we have Jobasha:
http://www.mediafire.com/?bo47ear2xl82clh (Trying to relax but seriously if you hear no difference just tell me)
Secondly, I found your original version of Dro'Zhirr on here and tried my own kind of gravely version:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sbn837bewcku2wr
There is some muddy pronunciation in that second one I'm aware of, but I'm keen to hear what else. Also, reading back through, maybe Khajiit stuff is pointless since I see you have it all claimed anyways? :P
@barradin, your voices for
@barradin, your voices for the high elves sound great to me, i think it really suits the race, so go ahead and package them up and post them up here, try to organize all the files into a seperate folder for each character though, and if your up to it the shared/misc tab in that spreadsheet needs to be done in the high elf voice too, like all of the lines in that tab, i know its a lot but it needs to be done so if you wanna tackle them that would be great!
The high elves are really
The high elves are really good! Your accent works for them quite well :3
And even if I have them claimed I'm always willing to share x3 and those takes were a lot better and more natural sounding, put that into your high elf and it would be *muah* x3
Woo, awesome! I'm just now
Woo, awesome! I'm just now going through the high-elves in full. Last time I looked on the spreadsheet I found the dialogue through the 'unique dialogue' tab, but when I look on the 'filter' tab I'm finding more stuff. Is that normal? How can be sure I'm not missing anything?
Also, two things, if you guys don't mind.
1. Can you completely confirm my packaging of the files is okay? I uploaded a .rar with Tymerailins stuff above. Both .mp3 and .wav included. Can I just be sure that's correct before I settle in and do a bunch of work here? I don't want to find out i'm doing it wrong and have to start over.
2. How can I see what people have already claimed? I would happily go through all of these Male Altmer here, but I want to be sure. Is it on the spreadsheet?
Thanks guys!
Oh also! Importantly!
How much can I ad-lib? Like how strict is it? I feel I could add a lot of character in some places if I was afforded a tiny bit of breathing space. It would be nothing that would deviate from the text, just adding in small stutters or natural conversational noises. What's the consensus?
Stuttering will probably have
Stuttering will probably have to be kept out. As realistic as it is, modern television and games pretend it doesn't exist, and so gamers expect it to be absent otherwise they end up focusing on it. I wouldn't mind it, but I get the feeling it shouldn't be in the project.
Conversational noises, assuming they're nothing too off-script, should work alright. I'm not sure exactly what kinds of noises that includes, though. Could you be more specific?
I just mean natural pauses on
I just mean natural pauses on inflections that can help to make incredibly dry lines work. ''I am looking for a potion. Do you have the potion'', for example. If you read it bare bones it will sound wierd but it can be made to sound conversational with just a little pause in the right place.
I can understand the worry that it would sound bad. You can always tell, though, when the VA has been given a bit of freedom - look at Wheatly in Portal 2 and all the organic delivery and lines from that performance. Anyway, don't worry, I wont deviate at all. I feel like by asking the question I've made it sound like I want to write my own lines or something ^^
Edit:
Jesus. I so far have completed 15 characters, and the most recent guy had eighty six lines of dialogue. May be a few more hours yet... I see a 160+ line character on his way.

Oh I think it could suit just fine! and I have an example to prove it:

Excuse the music, don't know what's up with that.
Games do use this, and I found when used properly it has great effect!
Yeah nice link! I've done 18
Yeah nice link! I've done 18 of the 19 characters now, though, and honestly there were only a few vaguely interesting characters I could play with. (Athellor and Arrielle mainly). So I haven't been very creative ^^. I don't mind though, it will be nice to have the race done for you guys.
Anyway, I'm off to bed. Will voice that last character and do all the misc lines when I wake up tomorrow!
Voices
Ok, after my friend nagging me to make one of the voices for 20 minutes, i decided to give it a shot.. Yet after i exported it, it just didn't sound as good as it did on Audacity.. Anyway, i'm not sure i made a good Dunmer or not.. I just recorded few lines for it and i will record rest if you all like it..
This is "Hlaren Ramoran"

@barradin yes just the wav
@barradin yes just the wav and mp3 files will work fine, just remember to seperate each characters lines in thier own folder, and great work, ps as long as you dont change the words any stuttering pauses ect are fine with me!
Voices
What, no comments for me? How sad...
first of all, the quality is
first of all, the quality is pretty bad, and second, you sound so uninterested, you must act, act angry, happy, sad, enthusiastic.
I may sound very negative now, but one thing good is your voice is close to a dumner, just a bit darker voice and its good
@lastmaster
I agree with eloth. The sound quality is pretty poor, but you do sound very dark elf-ish to me. With a bit more...fluctuations in your voice, showing some more emotion - it would be very good. Do you have any friends with better mics, or a bit of cash to spend on one? I don't recall if the guides explaining where to buy equipment mentioned this but - music stores that sell Used equipment are great for mics. I picked up a normally $400 mic for $70 last year.
Thanks for the post
Okay guys I have an archive
Okay guys I have an archive uploading now complete with about 500 lines of dialogue. That's all the male high elf stuff in the game - except for generic meeting and combat sounds, which I'd like to do next.
Can someone tell me how to find it all in the spreadsheet?
Edit:
I should also explain, I never voiced Yagrum Bargarn. He's quite a significant NPC, I know a lot of people want to voice him, and I don't think I'm right for the part anyway. So he's the only character unvoiced. But yeah. Really need to find out how to get those misc dialogue lines...
Editagain: (Damn this slow moving forum :P ). - We're not talking about the Multi-NPCs tab, are we? Because that's over 7,000 lines of dlialogue! And most seem very specific... not related to high-elves at all. Maybe just a section of it?
Are we re-recording Azura's
Are we re-recording Azura's lines, or just using her files from the game?
I ask because some of Azura's VO dialogue was taken out of Morroblivion, and I see no reason not to add it back for Skywind.
Ah! I found the file at the
Ah! I found the file at the bottom of the OP, I'm going to go ahead and assume those are all the misc sounds. Someone will still have to explain to me what it is I'm looking for in the spreadsheet itself, though. File is at 33% uploaded, I'm getting to work on this set now.
Here you go, guys. Not even sure who will be downloading this, but all the male Altmer lines are done! You can now cross that off the list.
http://www.mediafire.com/?61axv8vj7pe6q12
@Barradin nice Don't worry,
nice ;) Don't worry, Stijmunkey will download that, package it in his mod and we'll download his mod :P
Haha, fair enough. Just
Haha, fair enough. Just finished recording the raw audio for the misc stuff. That was super fun! Actual voice acting with all death sounds and whatnot. Now that my throat is worn out perhaps I can try a friggen dunmer.. :P
The upload will be a few hours away, and then I guess I'm done ^^
You are a beast Barradin, in

Thanks!
Well, here it is - all the combat sounds/greetings/trespassing/etc/etc stuff for the Altmer:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gbirydpi30uc3ge .
In combination with the other link above, that's the race complete (male). Hope you guys enjoy! A small favour, though? I don't actually have Oblivion installed so when this all gets merged I'd love if someone could go speak with Arrielle in the Seyda Neen shop in a video! You can fight him too if you like. Just so that I can see what this all ended up like :P. Thanks if anyone actually does it.
Oh, and one other thing. For anyone silently browsing this thread with a vague interest in helping out: It's really easy. Less than two days ago I was having a quick browse and thought it sounded fun. I'd never voice acted before. I'd never been on this website before. Two days later, and I've done everything available to me for that race.
So, as a message to those people, I'd say go for it. Even if you don't think you'll be any good (I think I was pretty average...). It'll still be fun and help these folks out. Frankly if someone else comes and does what I just did for all the other races we could be done in a week flat.
Cheers all.
barradin: You are
barradin:
You are unbelivable, in a good way :) With a little practising and voice tweaking you could do bretons also, and maaaaybe imperials(though we probably need a man in his 50`s or 60`s), so attention people, get your dads or grandads into voice acting :P
Zabamund
Ok, i just coundn't put any emotion to "Hlaren Ramoran"'s lines.. I used a better microphone this time..
Here is a line from "Zabamund", tell me how you guys like it..
http://www.gogofile.com/Default.aspx?p=sc&ID=635009284618840000_5463
Zabamund lines feedback.
"You are not an unworthy opponent" is fine, but after that the emotion seems to not reflect the words as well as it should and it only gets back to normal later (the whole "I hear honor in your words...regret even more should you kill me" is the lacking bit).
There's also very long pauses that make it sound awkward. I played around with it in Audacity and found that shortening the last pause by about a third and the pause after "I would regret killing you" significantly helped it a lot.
@barradin i dont know if its
@barradin
i dont know if its just me but i cant seem to download your main file with all the characters :( ill try again later
great job on the misc stuff, although to answer your earlier question the multi npc tab does need to be recorded although the only ones who have to record ALL the lines are dunmer, i just need you to find as many of the generic topic responses as you can and record them, so like the latest rumors, a little advice, the topics about the races(the ones that fit if a player asks about dunmer record the lines that make sense not the we are a proud race ones ect because obviously your not dunmer) and the topics about cities places creatures ect
i know its a lot of work to sift through all those lines but the first half are useless go until the ones with no filenames, those are the ones ill need from you
@lastmaster getting closer
@lastmaster
getting closer maybe a little lower of tone and less echoey effect
Ah! And there I am thinking I
Ah! And there I am thinking I was done. Okay I'll have a look through that tab for you. As for the main file, it's saying 12 people at least have already downloaded it, so I'm assuming it's just you.
I've noticed that in amongst all those first half of lines are small sections that have no filenames. Can you have a look at them and tell me if they need doing?
Also, if these all have no filenames, what am I saving them as?
for now just save them as the
for now just save them as the first couple words of the line, i will have to change the name when it is implemented into the game
Okay thanks for the answer.
Okay thanks for the answer. Couldn't really start without that. Did the download work for you yet?
Lastmaster: My main problem
Lastmaster:
My main problem was really just being able to make out all the words, as I doubt I would've understood everything without subtitles. I'm not sure if it was the recording quality or if you just need to articulate better. :'>
Lastmaster's clarity.
Come to think of it, I had this problem too. I just listened to it so much that I stopped thinking about it.
Specifically: "(something) to regret even more should you kill me" (no idea on the word (words?) right before to) and "(something), perhaps" (no idea either, sounds like "revour" or something). Certain other words were a bit unclear on the consonants, but overall I think the context of the easy-to-hear words made them alright.

sorry i meant to reply earlier, yes i got it to work
Great. How long before it's
Great. How long before it's all merged? Just curious.
As for these shared lines - I spent about an hour earlier looking through them and recording a bunch of stuff, but I feel like I didn't even get an eighth of the way done. What's putting me off is that it's just pot luck whether I'm even voicing lines that will ever be used, and I know for a fact I'm missing a whole bunch I should be doing. It's all very vague.
Has anyone does this for another race so far? Is there no way at all I can get a comprehensive list of lines I know matter? As I say, it's putting me off.
They should be put into
Long time lurker here. Love
Long time lurker here. Love the project, by the way.
I think voice acting is such a vital part of this project, so I decided to give it a shot. Bear in mind that this is just a test to see if my voice is up for it. The mic quality, while passable, is not good enough to be put in-game. If you guys like it, I will try to get a proper mic for proper recording.
I am not a native speaker, either, but I feel as though my pronunciation is still pretty good.
Here's a test of the Khajiit trader, Ra'Virr. I'm still working on the accent.
http://www.mediafire.com/?d0nx5myq46ta2g4
I think you khajiit voice is
I think you khajiit voice is great, but you shouldn't be afraid of overacting since I think you need to "act" a little more! It was quite monotone, maybe just try using a little more intonation? :) Otherwise I'd personally say that was a nice accent for a khajiit and your english is fine.
english is definitely fine
english is definitely fine but more rolling rr's and drawn out ssssss's and what josie said dont be afraid to overact especially with khajiit

Hey all, I have been struggling with the decided voice for the Dunmer, so much in fact that it hurts to even talk in the voice now. I kept on getting a sore throat and other stuff. Just wanting to let you know I am still here, but I will be doing the original voice for the Dunmer as I can keep that going for a lot longer.
Sorry for the huge delay, I will send you the new files shortly, maybe 2-3 days.
Faelar Braegen wrote:Hey all,
Faelar BraegenYour original voice was still the course sounding one like in Morrowind right, if so great that will work fine no need to kill your voice, if it's not the original sounding voice from Morrowind then again no need to kill your voice just send me what you have finished and we can get you working on something else, have you been doing a bunch of characters or just the shared multi npcs lines? Just remember to send each characters voice files in their own folder, other than that thanks for all the hard work I'm looking forward to getting your files so i can put them ingameHey all, I have been struggling with the decided voice for the Dunmer, so much in fact that it hurts to even talk in the voice now. Answer
I have been doing the General Dunmer lines. The voice I will be doing is a lot easier for me and the one that I originally posted in the old thread for an Orc. But the main person said it would be better as a Dunmer as I had the "Graveley" sound that worked. I will get on them straight away.

Heres Tyermaillin. As I said, I don't have oblivion installed so there are no .lips here - but I've included each line, correctly named, in both .wav and .mp3 (64bit) formats within this archive. I hope that's what you're looking for?
