Update on my progress:  It's going well!!  (I can upload some stuff for you guys tomorrow)

I've been making mp3 and wav files for everything, but my game got junked up so I'm gonna have to wait till the beginning of the month to buy it on steam so I can do the lip files.

Oh, and I highly recommend adobe audition, it's what I use and it's pretty great.  Also, if you're looking for a mic, check out blue, they make good mics that are straight to usb so no hassle with pre-amps or anything, and they're decently affordable (don't kow about our international friends though, sorry)

I talked to a friend of mine and he told me where I can find an HQ mic + pre-amp for no more than 50$, so I'll try to get it by Friday. :)

Why's the forum been so dead recently?

Hopefully because people are busy working on voices lol
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Well that would be a good reason x3

By the way, did we ever decide if DJD is getting any parts?

And my copy of the game is all janky so I hvaen't been able to make lip files for most of the files.  Wav and mp3 files for all though :3

We're still waiting on him to send us a good test, I think he's just waiting on a mic right now so he's not assigned to anything yet but hopefully soon

at some point that topic is gone die a bit because the work is getting complete and the best npc are done ore reserved

but it wouldn't suprise me if al the skywind topic's get revived by a new release (stil waiting for 0.6)just see what happened whit the skyblivion update

op updated new release!, and the very first skywind release, requires v0.6 of the skywind master

are the same amount of voices done for skywind as morroblivion?

no there is more in morroblivion, some of the characters "quests" and conditions are not done yet, skywind should  have most of the chargen and MQ 01 and 02 done

You know what that means?  I update the release thread with a link over here! :)

Well it's good I've missed nothing then because the renovation started a week earlier then I expected and had to sleep over at a relative's house and didn't have computer/internet and so on and so forth. As I recall I was nearly done with Vivec so as soon as I get my computer up and running it'll be finished in a day.

While testing though, I noticed that the echo here is terrible, I'll have to see if anything can be done about it.

I had to order a new Pre amp for my Mic( ProMPA2 Tube pre)

to really get it sounding professional. I'm going to start today getting more voices down

Just checking in.

As far as an update from me, I've had a bad case of the flu which has now become strep throat, so I'm miserable! I can barely communicate with my wife right now, let alone record voices, so I'm taking a little break. Which I hate because I don't have anything else to do right now! But as soon as I'm able to talk and not have severe pain, I'll get back to doing voices, haha.

Hope you feel better soon cinjaxon, and thanks for the updates guys it's good to know you haven't dissappeared

Here is my first attempt for an Orc voice. I would have tried to do some other races as well, but I can't get that spreadsheet to work for the life of me.

First off nothing is sorted alphabetically, so its hard to find the characters that I'm looking for in the green drop down boxes per Thermador's instructions. Secondly when I sort by race to just see all of that characters in that race, it ends in the A's. It did this for every race I looked up, i could only see a few people in each race. So I sorted by quest, and they were un alphabetized and there were loads of them, so I just couldn't get this to work for me lol. Is there a search function or something? I must be doing something wrong :P

do filter by: name    X

and: name:                 X

and you will get all their lines

ya just took about about 5 days for it to get here. I"ll show off some orc and redguard and breton and DE soon

Thats a very good orc voice man :)

Shadowxdrago: I agree with Eloth!
In my opinion, the deep base, and kind of snarling attitude perfectly fits our green skinned friends. :)

i also agree, and i know it was just a test but always remember the lesson fron that chocolate rain dude from youtube and try and breathe away from the mic lol

I added a few voice actors to chat, because voice acting is indeed contributing. =p so don't freak out when you suddenly hear an msn pm sound. If I forgot you, don't get discouraged, I probably just haven't skimmed the thread enough.

shadowxdrago, that is the perfect voice for the orcs, I dare say better then those in both morrowind and oblivion .

Also, I usually don't even bother using the filter, I just go to the "Unique Dialogue Lines" and searches up the names of the character and does them.

If you are interested you could do the "Multy-NPC Dialogue" and do the common voice lines for the race.

Thanks everyone :)

Ok i can do some multi-NPC dialogue. I have it open on the spreadsheet now. Is there no way to know which is just orc, or are we trying to have all of this dialogue for every race?

Ya its a lot but all the multi line stuff needs to be done for every race
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Wow, ok. Is there a way to know if anyone else has worked on this for orcs? Or since no one is assigned to Orcs on "Shared / Misc lines for Races"  it is safe to assume that no one has touched it? I just don't want to accidently work on something that has already been worked on.

Yup if no one is assigned it's safe, I'll assign you to it when I get home :)

Does anyone have a export / list of all Skywind Dialogue ?
( incl. the correct Skywind file names )

The Morroblivion or Morrowind info is not useful to me.

I think we'd better wait for conditions to be done before exporting the dialogue, no ?

also, I have to say SOME dialogues were not converted, like greetings. I'm adding them manually...

Waiting for a finished product is probably best, but I just like to play with it. I did notice that exporting the Skywind dialogue is not easy to do, just like with Morroblivion its throwing CTD’s at me.

Impossible to build file names list until quests are assigned to dialogs and conditions to replies.

I'm not against you exporting the dialogue list ;) I just mean that it would be impossible to build a spreadsheet like thermador's one without conditions done. You wouldn't know which line is for whom (by default the lines are for all NPCs)

I wanted to get into VA for a while with this modding community, and figure this was a good a place as any! I have never in my /life/ done anything like this, so bear that in mind guys!

Anyway I have no idea which character to voice and don't even have Oblivion installed to make .lip files, so I just grabbed a range of characters from the excel spreadsheet (which I should add for people struggling with it, will not work in a simple spreadsheet viewer...) and voiced them.

The file I'm linking to here isn't in the format you want, its mainly for you to just listen through and see which race(s ) you think I fit best. There are no extra effects added on here (adding base for orcs, etc). Its all flat with my voice, so do consider I can tweak things.

Would love the peoples feedback! And I can try a different range of stuff next time too, if nothing works.

The order of characters are as follows (all of their lines are included):

Bonrod The Roarer (Nord), Eldafire (High Elf), Falnaamo (High Elf), Optio Bologra (Orc), Ra'zahr (Khajiit), Ra'zhid (Khajiit), Simine Fralinie (Breton), Urvel Dulni (Dark Elf). It's all male except one female character, but that was by accident and I wasn't trying to voice a woman :P.

@barradin cool ill check it out when I get home and actually have access to my pc
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

Awesome, how long will that be?

I have a good feeling I can't do the deeper voiced races very well, but maybe I'm wrong. Just want some feedback about which race to choose right now and then I can go work on it ^^

Edit:

While waiting I messed about with audacity a fair bit. Here's three samples of the same possible Orc, each with a different pitch/normalisation (I can hear some background noise too I'd like to get rid off if I ever get to make proper voices).

Barradin,

I like your Khajiit and your high elves the best. Orc would sound good too, if like you said you maybe edited them carefully. Too much manipulation can get you some rough sounding stuff. I used a pitch plugin on Sonar 8.5 and just went down two half-steps. You can see what my orc sounds like a few posts above.

Hey thanks! You have a very good sounding orc voice so I'll try to bear that in mind. I edited my previous post with a new orc attempt, what do you think of my second sample in there? I probably need more lines to work with.

As for Khajiit, it's funny - I thought they would be hardest, but they have a particularly distinct sound to me so maybe it's easier to replicate. Really I need some good examples of the other races to tune my mouth to.

Any further pointers? I'm itching to go here but the forum is moving a little slow :P. Gimmie gimmie.

I picked another random Orc to voice, this time with more lines: Yak Gro-Skandar .

http://www.mediafire.com/?w6wpwdfb102gsfb

I feel like its missing something... not bass, but a certain throaty aspect? Maybe? And perhaps a crispness too.

And /another/ orc! This one is a bit lower but with more top end. He also has more interesting things to say: Bakh gro-Sham

i definitely like the high elf, and with some work even the dunmer might be good you almost have the raspyness down, if you could get it more consistant and a little lower it might actually work, keep up the good work if you find any high elves you want to claim just let me know, and keep working on the other voices!

Awesome! Do you feel like the voices aren't different enough? Thanks for the feedback. Can you take a look at my latest Orc upload and tell me what you think? I'm working on some more Khajiit stuff right now.

Edit:

Here's a Khajiit I tried. I'm not very happy with it, though. Maybe it just all feels too forced? Or way off, idk. I can take the critisism :P

http://www.mediafire.com/?yfbb3iozxba9wpi

Anyway since people liked the high elves I'll give those a shot next. I feel like it can't have been perfect off the bat, though, so let me have it.

no actually within the same race similar is kinda good otherwise the shared/misc lines will sound too out of place for certain characters, so similar but also subtle differences for some variety if that makes sense, also thats a pretty good sounding orc i think the pitch and everything is good, but maybe a little more brutish? kinda like hes mad all the time at least i think that would fit a little better but good job

Always shouting? I'll be sure to try that as soon as its not the first thing in the morning where I am :P. Good advice! I made an edit above if you're willing to check it out.

not too bad for the khajiit the rolling r's are good but it doesnt quite sound right not feline enough, maybe more hisssssssssss on the s's

anyway im off to bed ill look at more of your stuff tomorrow :)

Okay fair enough! Thanks for the feedback.

Heres my rendition of Tyermaillin. If nobody has any problems with it i'll get to work on a properly packaged version before I go to sleep today!
